Yesterday Trump signed a presidential ORDER that will require the Department Of Justice to conduct an official criminal investigation on a man named Christopher Krebs.  What heinous crime is Krebs suspected of? Lets quote the order to open the investigation -

Trump accused Krebs of being a “significant bad-faith actor who weaponized and abused his government authority,” and claimed he – among other things – “promoted the censorship of election information, including known risks associated with certain voting practices, and falsely and baselessly denied that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen , i ncluding by inappropriately and categorically dismissing widespread election malfeasance and serious vulnerabilities with voting machines.”

Trump has now, officially categorized truth telling about how the election was NOT stolen as criminal.  All Krebs did was look at the voting machines and say they were found to be working and used properly. Now he will be criminally investigated for doing that.

This is madness. Chris Krebs was a public servant, a GOP appointee, who *did his job* ensuring the 2020 election was secure. For our government to target him like this is appalling & Stalinesque.

Any person who reveres our constitutional republic should speak out against it.

‘Madness’: Trump Gets Backlash Over ‘Stalinesque’ Investigation Into Ex-DHS Official He Appointed

President   Donald Trump   shocked conservatives and liberals alike on Wednesday after he ordered an   investigation   into his former cybersecurity appointee   Chris Krebs   for “falsely and baselessly” denying “that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen.”

In a   memo   on Wednesday evening, Trump revoked Krebs’ security clearances and ordered “a review of Krebs’ activities as a government employee, including his leadership of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).”

As justification for the review, Trump accused Krebsa of being a “significant bad-faith actor who weaponized and abused his government authority,” and claimed he – among other things – “promoted the censorship of election information, including known risks associated with certain voting practices, and falsely and baselessly denied that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen, including by inappropriately and categorically dismissing widespread election malfeasance and serious vulnerabilities with voting machines.”

Trump’s memo received backlash on Wednesday from social media users who called the review “Stalinesque” and pointed out that it was Trump who appointed Krebs in the first place.

“This is madness,”   reacted   MSNBC analyst and  The Bulwark Podcast   host   Tim Miller . “Chris Krebs was a public servant, a GOP appointee, who *did his job* ensuring the 2020 election was secure. For our government to target him like this is appalling & Stalinesque. Any person who reveres our constitutional republic should speak out against it.”

“Outrageous,”   weighed in   the editor of The Dispatch,   Stephen Hayes . “Trump is targeting by name a civil servant widely respected by both Republicans and Democrats. And he’s doing so in service of his false claims – thoroughly and repeatedly debunked – that he won the 2020 election. This won’t stop here.”

Trump also received criticism from his former White House deputy press secretary   Sarah Matthews , who resigned from her position following the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.

“Before the election, I warned repeatedly that Trump would go after those he saw as political enemies,” she   wrote . “Now he’s targeting a public servant who simply did his job and told the truth about the 2020 election being secure because it doesn’t fit with his lies.”

I suggest reading it before answering John's question.

I read it and nowhere does it prove any fraudulent votes in the 2020 election. Just because a group of CEO's and other politicians on both sides of the aisle agreed that a peaceful transfer of power was necessary for financial stability in our country doesn't mean there was actual "real" evidence of fraud THAT COULD HAVE OVERTURNED THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION that was ever found or ignored.

What Trump is doing now should be criminal, which fits because he is a convicted criminal. If you support Trump, you support a convicted criminal and are no better than he is. If any of his supporters had any shame left, I'm sure they would be red in the face with it. Sadly, they do not [deleted][]

What Trump did yesterday was make it the official policy of his administration that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

And our press and media just accept it, with very little objection. He'll probably even have Bondi investigate the two Georgia election workers who Giuliani defamed and see if they can be put in prison .

From that so-called "fact" sheet:

ENDING GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP: President Trump is committed to ending government censorship of Americans and believes that those who engage in such conduct should not have access to our nation’s secrets.

Trump has been firing high level officials (mostly women and minorities, btw) for supposed reasons of 'wokeness' based on speech.

He's been disappearing people off the streets for speech.

Hell, he's going after Krebs for speech (not going along with his election lies).

How many supposedly "woke" books have been removed from school libraries, government agencies, and military academies by Trump's thought police...for speech?

So much for ending government censorship. More like kicking it in to overdrive.

ENSURING LOYALTY AND ACCOUNTABILITY: President Trump has made clear that loyalty to the United States must come before personal or partisan agendas, taking decisive action against those who misuse their undeserved influence to deceive the American public.

And that statement is the complete opposite of reality. What Trump has made patently clear, going all the way back to his first term, is that loyalty to him and his personal, partisan agenda trumps everything else (pun intended). That's why his cabinet is so full of unqualified boot lickers and yes-men this time. He got sick of actual patriots telling him no last time.

All of this is about as Orwellian as it gets, and it's actually happening here.

The only loyalty these rightwing religious conservative sycophants have is to the Trumpfederacy. They already fly his flags, they attacked the American capital on his behalf in attempt to install him as leader. These sick fucks don't give a shit about the America our founders envisioned. It's why so many of them seem enamored with Russia. That's more their desired political infrastructure. One strong man they put their blind faith in because he promised to give them and their God anything and everything they want, they just have to trust him and not worry about politics, they won't even need to vote anymore, they trust he's got their backs and they give him free reign to do whatever it takes to do that, the law and constitution be damned.

Again, to quote Trump's own words in the order to open an investigation

"and falsely and baselessly denied that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen".

If you were a government worker and deny that the election was stolen you are subject to a DOJ investigation.  This is madness and in a sane world would be impeachable conduct by a president.

So why not let the investigation carry on?

There were dozens and dozens of investigations, some 72+ court cases brought, hand recounts, all sorts of attempts by Trumps allies to prove ANY substantive voter fraud AND THEY FOUND NOTHING!

36e756d4-bb92-495b-a265-8a217a6b95b0_text.gif

To continue the investigations at this point would be beyond stupid. The only purpose of it would be an attempt to alter the known facts in the favor of Trump who is now in power and is without a doubt the most corrupt piece of garbage to ever sit behind the resolute desk. He is an embarrassment to this nation, and to let him further stain it by dragging out long dead conspiracy theories so he can feed the resurrected dead meat to his sick brain-dead zombie-like sycophants who gobble this shit up is beyond reprehensible.
