A few years ago I got a routine eye exam.  It revealed two things.

1.  I still have 20-20 vision.
2.  I have dry macular degeneration.

Yep.  My eyes are degenerates.  I guess I must have watched too much porn.  I probably shouldn't have watched that slightly perverse " Girl on Girl on Midget on Goat " video.  I couldn't resist watching it because it sounded so creative and artistic.  And the goat was an excellent actor.

My eye doctor perscribed Bausch & Lomb PreserVision Eye Vitamin & Mineral Supplement (Areds 2 formula).  I was relieved.  No hypodermic needles in my eyes!

Then came the bad news.  He asked me if I smoked cigarettes.  I told him I quit about fifteen years ago.  He said "that's good.  If you don't want to go blind, you need to stop smoking everything . "  He must have noticed how bloodshot my eyes are.  I knew better than to tell him I believe in an "ounce of prevention" to avoid  glaucoma.  So I told him I was using my wonderful Traegger Smoker Grill on a regular basis (true story).  He told me to wear swimming goggles when I cook or I would go blind.

Damn, he said to quit smoking everything.  I had been smoking weed every day (usually all day long) for decades.  Oh well, at least he didn't tell me to stop masturbating.  So I bought several different kinds of snorkeling goggles (I also enjoy snorkeling).  And I also bought a couple of these:

Review: Firefly 2

As we touched upon briefly, this unit features on-demand convection heating, a first for the vaporizer industry. Most vaporizers have a 1 – 2 minute heat up time and once they reach the set temperature they maintain that temperature during the entire session, while this is an effective way to vaporize herbs it can be a bit wasteful because the herbs are cooking even if you are not drawing from the unit.

With the Firefly 2 your herbs are only cooked when you press the heating buttons and begin drawing from the unit. Once you let go of the buttons and stop drawing your herbs no longer cook, which helps preserve their integrity for the next draw. Unlike most units the Firefly 2 does not have an on/off function, the unit is constantly on and in standby mode. There are 2 touch sensors, which we will refer to as buttons, on either side of the unit, when both are pressed the green light at the top of the unit will flash slowly for about 5 seconds until it turns solid.

When it turns solid you are ready to start drawing from the mouthpiece, for best results we recommend extremely slow, long draws. The device goes back into standby mode after holding the buttons down for 30 seconds, we found for the best draws you will want to inhale for that entire duration. This device does have a fairly steep learning curve, so if you find yourself underwhelmed after the first session do not be discouraged, you essentially have to unlearn everything you knew about vaporizers and start fresh with this device. When we first used the unit we had the same sense of disappointment, but after a couple more sessions we finally figured out how to take proper draws and produce some very nice vapor.

The Firefly 2 also includes an app which is used to change your temperature profile, switch to concentrate mode and even change which buttons need to be pressed to heat the device. In our experience the app was a little finicky when connecting to the device. We found the easiest way to get the device to connect if the app won’t recognize the vaporizer is to close the app, switch your phone into airplane mode and then disable airplane mode, tap both buttons on the firefly to ensure its awake, and then open the app again.

I know what you're thinking.  Vaping is destroying people's lungs.  Vaping is very dangerous.  I agree.  Here's a quotation from Perrie's current seed ( Michigan Teen Needed New Lungs Because Of Vaping ):

Investigators at the CDC reported a breakthrough last Friday, saying they had discovered vitamin E acetate in lung fluid samples of 29 patients from 10 different states.

Vitamin E acetate , an oil, is a synthetic form of vitamin E. It appears to be used as a cutting agent in THC e-liquid as a way to dilute the product. It's been found in half of the 419 THC product samples tested at the Food and Drug Administration. Patients affected by the illness have reported vaping both THC and nicotine.

As solid as the evidence is for vitamin E acetate as a source of the outbreak, it's likely just one of multiple causes.

The FDA has found other diluents, such as medium chain triglycerides and polyethylene glycol, in products. Medium chain triglycerides are sold in oil form as a dietary supplement, and polyethylene glycol is the active ingredient in over-the-counter laxatives.

I vape organic buds (from growers I know, and trust).  I use a grinder to produce a coarse grind.  I don't vape THC oil, I vape good ole "medical" marijuana.  And I don't add Vitamin E or laxatives to my weed.

I also use the lowest temperature when I vape.  I can adjust the temperature of my Firefly 2 with my i-Phone (the app is available online at the Apple Store).

Since the weed doesn't burn, no smoke is produced .  Butt, I still use goggles (most of the time).  My vision doesn't seem to be deteriorating.

After I hit the Firefly several times, I open it and stir the bowl with a toothpick.  Then I can get a few more hits.  And when the bowl is played out, I dump the "dregs" into a container.  I can make canna butter with the dregs (the dregs are decarboxylated weed) and I cook lots of high flying recipes with the butter.  The dregs can also be smoked (butt I can't do that).

I recommend using two Fireflies.  One Firefly can be on the recharger while you're vaping.

I don't claim that what I'm doing is "safe vaping", butt it is a safer way to get high.  Smoking anything is bad for your lungs (and you eyes).  And, as David Brinkley once said, "Everything that's fun is either carcinogenic, fattening or illegal."   Butt, I like to have fun, so I risk it.

As you can probably tell, if you seen my stupid content, I usually vape when I NewsTalk.  I also imbibe "medical" ethanol.  That's why I enjoy NewsTalkers .
