The clash of civilization and barbarism
Hamas's unprovoked and brutal attack on Israeli civilians on Oct. 7 has shone a bright light on the global rise of antisemitism and forced individuals and institutions alike to take a stand. Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and others have expressed their pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel sentiments overtly, while others have revealed their positions more unwittingly. For example, CNN writer Stephen Collinson gave himself away when he described Israel's retaliatory attacks on Hamas targets in Gaza as "indiscriminate."
At any rate, two points are clear: Everyone has an opinion, and antisemitism runs far deeper than most of us had thought.
One of the most disturbing developments has been the growing number of pro-Palestinian rallies at America's most elite universities, attended by students who are clearly ignorant of the reality in the Middle East. The spectacle of these protesters chanting "death to the Jews" and calling for "intifada," as well as the tepid responses from university leaders, shows just how thoroughly they've been indoctrinated by the left-wing ideology that dominates academia.
The indoctrination that originated in our universities decades ago has spawned the most radical, anti-American generation ever. And these people are now working in our government, our legacy media, and our most powerful institutions.
In the weeks since the attack on Israel, the United Nations, an organization created to foster international peace and prevent conflicts, has clearly come down on the side of the terrorists. Unbelievably, on Sunday, the U.N. General Assembly rejected a motion to condemn Hamas for its savagery and adopted a resolution for a "humanitarian truce" in Gaza which passed overwhelmingly by a vote of "120 to 14 with 45 abstentions."
United Nations Watch, a nongovernmental organization based in Geneva whose mission is to monitor the performance of the U.N., published a copy of the three-page resolution. Not only does it fail to address the more than 200 hostages still being held in Gaza by Hamas, but it doesn't even mention the terrorist group. Instead, it demands "immediate, full, sustained, safe and unhindered humanitarian access … to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid." It also calls for Israel, which it labels "the occupying Power," to rescind its order for Palestinian civilians to evacuate northern Gaza.
The organization also posted the voting record, which shows that EU countries such as Belgium, France, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland voted in favor of the measure. Has the world gone mad?
On top of this despicable resolution, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres saw fit to appoint Iranian Ambassador Ali Bahreini to chair the 2023 United Nations Human Rights Council Social, which is scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Given the regime's horrendous track record on human rights and the fact that Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, Guterres's decision seems like a cruel joke.
The world is in crisis. Arguably, our plight is even more dangerous today than it was during our fight against Nazism during World War II. While we faced a formidable enemy then, at least we were united in the cause. Today, the country is nearly as divided as we were during the Civil War. Those who excuse the sadistic murders of over 1,400 human beings live among us.
The Oct. 7 attack was not merely an assault on Israel. It was an attack on civilization brought to us by barbarians who seek our annihilation. We witnessed a savagery that seemed almost inconceivable in a civilized world.
In a Monday op-ed published by the Wall Street Journal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that the world is at a "turning point." He believes that unless the civilized world is "willing to fight the barbarians," we will live in a "world of fear and darkness."
He considers calls for a ceasefire to be "calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism." And he promises, "That will not happen."
Throwing down the gauntlet, Netanyahu wrote, "Today we draw a line between civilization and barbarism. It is a time for everyone to decide where they stand. Israel will stand against the forces of barbarism until victory."
Netanyahu is right. There is no turning back for Israel. It is long past time for action. Israel has both the motivation and the capability to destroy Hamas, but up until now, it has not been allowed the time by the international community to get the job done.
The rest of the West faces its own crossroads. The Israel-Hamas war really is a clash between civilization and barbarism. And it is essential that civilization wins.

Like I told you before, name them. Or [removed,]
Tlaib, omar, many many college professors, many many college students. There are a lot of people out there with shit for brains.
I just noticed that on one of your other seeds, one you locked, it was necessary for you to removed for context, by charger an awful lot of comments that obviously disagreed with your opinions. Maybe it would be wise these days to take your own advice.
Wtf are you talking about?....
Ohhh, did you take that personal?...
Tlaib tweeted out a video calling for the eradication of Israel using Hamas slogans today.
Nobody in the Democratic caucus seems to care.
I would like to see the eradication of idiotic thinking such as she displays.
She is a cancer on Congress.
If she were a Republican saying the same stupid shit, they would be clamoring over each other to get to a microphone to denounce her.
I ended that seed because someone made the statement that all Palestinians are animals.
Like it or lump it.
Which made little to no sense since you had deleted said comment.
Oh, okay, that was an improper generalization and should have been deleted. I once had an Israeli client who told me that Palestinians were animals, but back then I didn't know much about them so I didn't agree with her. Some time after that I met Palestinians when in Israel, and some are "fine people". Where have I heard that expression before?
Civilization = liberal thinking.
Barbarism = right wing fascism.
Said no one ever who was the least bit interested in truth.
So you believe the liberal wishing for the destruction of an entire people globally is civilization?
Says a lot about liberalism, and it ain't good.
Jews are well-aware of the extent of antisemitism prevalent in many parts of the world, however, the apparent increase in antisemitic acts and propaganda here in the U.S. is very troubling.
Although the U.N. voted for the creation of the modern state of Israel, votes on matters regarding Israel before the General Assembly have been fairly consistently anti-Israel for decades. The same is true for votes taken in some of the U.N. committees.
You got that right! Not long ago, I was in a discussion about how overblown the white supremacy scare was, mostly fueled by the media. It has everyone worked up about a mole hill. This, however, is way, way more scary. We have these fanatical morons on campuses supporting Hamas, Palestinians and a false narrative, along with the media giving airtime to diseases that openly state their intend to eliminate Jews and an appalling number of us totally approve.
Let me illustrate how insane this all is. In Charlottsville, we had fanatical morons marching with tiki torches shouting "Jews will not replace us", and somehow the morons supporting Hamas can't see they are doing the same damned thing. The very same ones who denounced the morons at Charlottsville. And, from the amount of demonstrations in favor of Hamas and the Palestinians, there's a whole lot more of them than I've ever seen of white supremacists.
So, what I have to wonder is, if you're (generic you) the kind of person who can cheer on Hamas, what are you yourself capable of doing right here in our own country? What horrible atrocity are you willing to commit in the name of your cause?
Until now I had no use for the Washington Examiner, but I endorse 100% the seed above. In fact, with what is happening in the world, although until now I have tried to maintain a relatively neutral centrist position on issues, I feel I have been forced by what I'm seeing what's happening in the world to become very right wing, at least on this issue for sure.
Although I'm surprised that France agreed with the UN, having already had to experience some horrid antisemitic terrorism, I'm not at all surprised that Ireland, that was always anti-Israel did, nor am I surprised that the author of the Inquisition, Spain, would do so. Although many decades ago I thought the United Nations was a boon for humanity, my opinion now is that their building in NYC should be bulldozed into the river beside it, with a lot of its occupants locked inside.
Arvo Buzz..the UN always has been and always will be a waste of space..and the WHO is not far behind..
As a matter of interest what is China's stance on the war??
Not heard anything about what they have said or think...or are they using their favourite word..co operation?? 🙄
China has not chosen sides openly, and has joined most other nations in calling for a pause for humanitarian aid to enter. However, although professing neutrality on the issue, the news broadcasts and talk shows do show a slight bias in favour of the Palestinians. That is no surprise to me since China has been putting in a lot of effort in creating good relations with the Arab/Muslim nations, such as brokering the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. However, the issue does not seem to be of much interest to the people of China generally. I have no concern about antisemitism in China because the Chinese people generally have respect for the Jewish people - there are a lot of similarities in their culture and traditions, and they admire the business acumen of the Jewish people and there are even books published here on that topic. Don't forget that Shanghai was a sanctuary for Jews escaping from the Nazis, no visas were required for them.
You "never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity" just as Abba Eban described the Palestinian leadership. The fact that Shanghai was not Communist until after the war made NO DIFFERENCE in how Jews who had sought refuge there were treated both during the war and after, to this day. There are still many Jews living in Shanghai, and there is still a synagogue and an active Jewish Community Centre there. Here you go, MM, educate yourself about something you attempted to deny by your comment. Jewish life continues in Shanghai NOTWITHSTANDING the CPC government.
LINK ->
How do you know that? Just because a government is Communist does not automatically mean they would be an Axis power and would join the Nazis. Did Russia join the Nazis? Japan refused to kill the Jews when Hitler told them to. What proof do you have that the CPC would have been any different? You just jumped at the opportunity to disparage the Chinese government because I spoke of it.
There are some simpleminded morons who will claim somehow that HAMAS and Palestinians are different. and that Israel should stop attacking GAZA, these are the same type of people that would have sided with Japan in 1941. Hamas was elected the government of the area known as Gaza, the people there have done nothing but support and encourage this government. so the "country" of gaza attacked the state of Israel and as far as i'm concerned until they surrender and turn over their leaders to stand trial for war crimes, they should suffer the same punishment as the leaders they support.
This time really is different. Israel is not backing down. The status quo of bullying Israel into accepting a simmering standoff as a phony peace ain't working any longer.
Antisemitism is truly something that I will never be able to understand, honestly I just don’t think I am stupid enough for it to make sense.

The Barbarians will always be at the gate. What’s crazy is such a large segment of western countries want to let them in…. Pakistan is expelling millions of illegal migrants, they aren’t idiots.
So you are aligning yourself with radical Pakistanis now?
Have known and worked with many immigrants who love America.
My great grandparents were immigrants back in the 20s.
I'm half German and half Irish. They were pioneers and prospered.
