You'll be glad to know that just to the left is a wind farm. The coal-powered plant is still there and operating, and there are still huge piles of coal laying around and scars in places from surface mining, but WV is starting to see the benefits of renewable energy.
Wow - Great view. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad to be close enough to WV so I can pop down on a weekend for hiking when I have the time. I would love to see this view everyday if I could.
Heading to Keystone CO on Wednesday for work but am so pumped about the location. I'm packing my hiking boots/sticks with me to do some hiking after work.
Be careful there-I went to a convention in 2014, was there for 7 days, never did adjust tot he altitude. If you drink, it'll be a much faster buzz.......
I know you were responding to PJ, but as far as the altitude, I seldom drink in WV, as I'm usually the one driving, but it usually takes me half an hour to regain my hearing after I go up or down the mountain from which this was taken. My son gets on my case for yelling or ignoring him, and I gain a better understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing.
Yeah - the altitude is making me catch my breath more so I'm trying to take it slow and get myself acclimated before doing any real hiking. Looked out my hotel window this evening and saw a moose and her calf. AWESOME!!!! I can't wait until I can retire so I can get the hell out of Washington. sigh.....
It was more vibrant in person, but I couldn't get it to show up well with my phone's camera. I tried playing with the settings later, but it stayed faint.
I know! So invigorating and awe-inspiring. An already clear world can actually appeared touched by "fuller soap." And then, the sun comes out to dry up the 'spray.' Brilliant clarity!
Somewhere in those hills both of my mom's grandparents had farms, both of which are still owned by the family, although my side all moved out west. I remember a family reunion when I was small on one of those farms. Beautiful country.
The mountains of West Virginia, after a storm passed through.
Dear Friend Sandy: Great view.
Enjoy the holiday.
E.
Thank you, Enoch.
Excellent feeling of depth and distance in your composition.
Thanks, Buzz.
Almost heaven...
Nature is awesome. So many people take our amazing planet for granted.

Beautiful photo Sandy.
Mother Nature at her finest.
Thanks, Kavika!
West Virginia is truly wild and wonderful. Great photo, Sandy!
It is. Thanks, TG!
Very nice
Thanks, charger!
Did you enter your car in the car show, or just go to look?
I just looked at Carlisle PA show, took the Charger to local shows

Thanks, Gary.

Have fun in the mountains.
My neighbor left Sunday for a 2 week stint in the Chilean Andes working on telescopes. Something he has to do every so often.
There are great views of the southern sky there.
Agree, great pic Sandy. Reminds me of where we used to go hunting.
Beautiful shot Sandy. Would you mind if I used it for a painting?
Thanks, Perrie, and I'd be honored.
Thanks Sandy!! I'll post it after it's done!
Thank you Sandy, nice respite from the madness.
I love the extremely faint rainbow.
Good eye, Hal. I would not have noticed had you not said that.

Great view. When I was young friends of mine (their parents) owned a cabin in West Virginia. Went there a couple of times. Beautiful.
It is a beautiful picture, and the rain washed everything 'clean inside.' I know the feeling that inspires the author to snap the shot! (Smile.)
I love that "just-washed" feel in scenery.
