Brandon Awarded Medal of Courage
Guns are NOT the solution, guns are the problem.

SiNNERs and ButtHeads

I am fucking sick of the cowards who are afraid to say, "Fuck Biden" so they say, "Go Brandon."

From now on, every time I hear a jackass say, "Go Brandon" I will think of Brandon Tsay, who is a true hero.  He confronted an armed mass shooter and disarmed him thereby saving lots of lives in Monterey Park, California.  Apparently, the spokespsycho for the NRA, Wayne LaPierre, is fucking wrong when he says, "The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

Last November an unarmed Army vet, Richard Fierro , took down a mass shooter at Club Q in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Guns are NOT the solution, guns are the problem.

Brandon Tsay, the hero who disarmed the Monterey Park shooting suspect, honored with medal of courage

By Tina Burnside and Sarah Moon , CNN

Published 6:21 PM EST, Sun January 29, 2023

T he City of Alhambra honored the man who has been hailed a hero for disarming the Monterey Park shooting suspect at a second dance studio during Lunar New Year celebrations last weekend.

Brandon Tsay , 26, was awarded a medal of courage from the Alhambra Police Department during a ceremony Sunday.

Tsay can be seen in surveillance video wrestling a firearm from the shooting suspect, Huu Can Tran, at a dance studio in Alhambra. Authorities say Tran had opened fire earlier at a Lunar New Year celebration at another dance studio in nearby Monterey Park, killing 11 people and injuring 10 others.

“The carnage would have been so much worse had it not been for Brandon Tsay,” California Representative Judy Chu said during the award ceremony. There was a visible law enforcement presence at Sunday’s event, held during the city’s own Lunar New Year Festival.

Tsay was surrounded by police officers when he came on stage to accept his award, where he was joined by his family. He received a standing ovation and some attendees had posters and signs bearing his name. One sign at the community event read: “Brandon Tsay is our hero.”

Tsay was working the ticket office at the Alhambra dance studio when the armed man entered and pointed a firearm at him, Tsay told CNN last week. He lunged at Tran and struggled with him for about 40 seconds, he said. Tran hit him several times on the face, the back of his head and on his back and hands, Tsay said, before he was able to wrench the gun away from Tran.

During the struggle, Tsay said he thought to himself, “If I let go of this gun, what would happen to me, the people around me, my friends, my family?”

Chu, who presented Tsay with a certificate of congressional recognition, said Tsay’s story “was so amazing” that she called him to be her guest at President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on February 7. But just one hour after Chu spoke with him, Biden called Tsay to personally invite him to be his guest, Chu said.

Biden called Tsay last week to thank him for his act of bravery.

“I wanted to call to see how you’re doing and thank you for taking such incredible action in the face of danger,” Biden told Tsay. “I don’t think you understand just how much you’ve done for so many people who are never going to even know you. But I want them to know more about you.

“You have my respect,” the President said. “You are America, pal. You are who we are – no, no, you are who we are. America’s never backed down, we’ve always stepped up, because of people like you.”

Chu called the President’s invitation a tremendous honor. “All the eyes of the nation will be on that address,” Chu said.

Mr. Tsay is a true hero.  You will not find even one of his caliber on the ammosexual side of the US Congress.

As far as the Brandon thing, when you have nothing spout vacuous bs so the weak, insipid and dull of mind have something to believe in.

I saw The Mothers of Invention there a couple of weeks later.  Those were the days...

I also saw them a few months earlier, when they performed 200 Motels with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra at Pauley Pavilion at UCLA.  They also did a set of other songs without the orchestra not related to 200 Motels, including "My Boyfriend's Back"!  That was hilarious.

I'm linking this review because it discusses that performance, and a much later one.

The concert at the Santa Monica Civic included new material for 200 Motels that they had not performed at UCLA.  Flo and Eddie, formerly of The Turtles, performed with them.

I bought their first album "Freak Out" in about 1968-69.  My friends and I were all Zappa fans back then.

He's a hero just as are the Capitol police. My heart hurts for all they've been through. For a fucking lie. For nothing other than a fucking lie. Anyone who supports that POS trump is a traitor. Traitors supporting a traitor. The only other thing they have in common is ignorance. And plenty of it. And quit letting LaPierre get richer by using the blood of Americans to do it. They just gave violent domestic abusers the right to guns . Why do the right-to-lifers support this? They want to force births and don't seem to care about the out-of-control deaths of children by firearms.

In 2020 (the most recent year with available data from the CDC), firearms were the number one cause of death for children ages 1-19 in the United States, taking the lives of 4,357 children. With the exception of Canada, in no other peer country were firearms among the top five leading causes of childhood deaths. Motor vehicle accidents and cancer are the two most common causes of death for this age group in all other comparable countries.

Combining all child firearm deaths in the U.S. with those in other OECD countries with above median GDP and GDP per capita, the U.S. accounts for 97% of gun-related child deaths, despite representing 46% of the total population in these similarly large and wealthy countries.  Combined, the eleven other peer countries account for only 153 of the total 4,510 firearm deaths for children ages 1-19 years in these nations in 2020, and the U.S. accounts for the remainder.

Firearms account for 20% of all child deaths in the U.S., compared to an average of less than 2% of child deaths in similarly large and wealthy nations.

Tables included here .

Off topic I know, but I'm so looking forward to tomorrow's State of the Union address; a State of the Union  that I would be proud for my children to watch, to again feel inspired by my president and country, to feel the pride of watching a true American patriot that stimulates, motivates and encourages instead of a bitter, name-calling, delusional and hateful racist and mysoginist. Never once would I have let my children watch a trump State of the Union. Shameful piece of shit that he was as president. The ultimate loser. And liar. That why no one's doing shit about Santos. It's what republicans represent.

I am sure everyone is aware how "go Brandon " came to be. Since the first sentence is bullshit it is a safe bet the rest of the article is bullshit too.

No one is afraid to say Fuck Biden.

It would perhaps be more correct to say "Not everyone"

There are many good people in D.C. who have never expressed their personal opinions

because they like their jobs or incomes or notoriety.

And I would assume the vast majority of people are just too polite to talk that way.

It certainly doesn't hurt Biden and such talk/speech is only put out "there"

for the speaker to impress him/herself and his/her minions.

I am fucking sick of the cowards who are afraid to say, "Fuck Biden" so they say, "Go Brandon."

Poor baby.  Although I'm not afraid to say it - FUCK BIDEN.

Guns are NOT the solution, guns are the problem.

Because ignoring the real problem is the way to go about this.  Did the gun force any of these shooters to pick them up and squeeze the trigger?  No.  The gun is an inanimate object.  THE SHOOTER made the decision to pick up the gun and start shooting.  But dealing with the shooter is, apparently too hard for many so go after the inanimate object.

Once a week I would proudly wear my NRA jacket (which was covered with medals) to high school.

There was only one other member of the NRA at my high school (in Brooklyn, NY).

My father was a Navy pilot so he wasn't a member of the NRA butt he was a supporter.

I had the same patches on and marksmanship medals.  I hate seeing what this organization became.

The same cultural shift occurred to gun shows as well.  The pivoted from an emphasis on hunting and target shooting to self defense, survivalist and militia nonsense.

I used to go to the NRA range once a week to target shoot.

The range (indoor, of course) was in Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn.  It's the "hood" where Mike Tyson grew up.

I enjoyed riding on the subway with my rifle and my friend who also carried his rifle.

We always got seats because people exited the car when they saw us.

Nobody gave us any shit in the hood either.

People aren't used to seeing guys with rifles in NYC.

BTW, we used the target rifles the NRA provided at the range.

We liked carrying our rifles butt they weren't as accurate as those target rifles so we rarely fired them.

Derp.  Yes, Brandon Tsay (who was unarmed) went after the "inanimate" object.  When he took the GUN, the potential mass shooting never fucking happened.  The way to deal with a shooter is to take his gun away.   The best way to deal with a potential shooter is to prevent the asshole from being able to acquire a gun.
