Probably, but the moral here is that it's good to have friends that are, "intellectually barren".

I believe it has activated a previously unknown portion of the human mind that controls idiocy.

Not that it certainly has its uses ( not the idiocy lobe ), but for all the good it has done it may have done just as much harm. But I am old so take it with a grain of salt.

BTW, I am an Astrologer-- I've been studying it for over 35 years. I come across "coincidences" like this rather frequently-- I've come to realize thsat there are "forces at play" beyond those of which most people are aware.

What Weirdness Have You Found On The Internet?

Well-- how much time have you got? :-)

Unfortunately most of the weirdest stuff I've discovered are in video form, and  since the majority of people on NT have the attention span of a three year old, I find it really doesn't pay to put in the effort to post videos as most people don't watch them.

But, if anyone's is interested, I'll post a few-- if you're searching for extra weird stuff you won't be disappointed!

Here's one that someone posted on NV, probably over 10 years ago. A great find seeded by...anyone remember her?..."California Girl". (Its short-- and as is the case with many of these, it gets better right at or near the end so please watch the whole thing):

I do remember her..

She later changed her screenname because she didn't want to have people associate her with that state-- she was worried if people thought of her as californian they'd assume she was weird...

Later I formed a private group on Newsvine called "The Evil Foursome". IIRC, it consisted of myself, Ed Kain, The Doctori, and California Girl. It was one of many satirical groups I created on NV. (At one point I had started over 150 groups-- many had only one or two members :-). All for purposes of doing some humorous trolling of some of the more paranoid idiots who inhabited that site...

Did you notice the # of views on the YouTube page?

BTW, here's a little "secret". A while back someone I knew who was familiar with the inner workings of YouTube told be that they (YouTube) sometimes fakes the view count. On popular videos they greatly inflate the numbers of views shown. They do this as it creates a sensation on Social media sites-- and then more and more people who haven't already seen the video go to YouTube to see it.

(I'm not 100% sure that's true-- but it seems to jibe with what I know...)

"Rickroll" was a fairly childish prank that was "a thing" on the I"net for a while. Basically a person would post a link to some current topic-- and regardless of what the link supposedly led to, it was always to that Rick Astley video. After a person clicked on it, people in the Internet forum would gleefully post:

YOU'VE BEEN RICKROLLED!!!

(As I mentioned...it was a pretty juvenile prank! :-)

For more on Rickrolling, here's a link to the Wikipedia article (no this isn't an attempt at Rickrolling...):

Rickrolling (Wikipedia)

(Needless to say, a few people on Newsvine engaged in it for a while...)

Unless I'm in a real rush I always read comments on YouTube videos!

Apparently part of the culture there is for regular users to compete to see who can make the wittiest  or cleverest comment. Many of the comments aren't all that great but sometimes there are some that are really, really, clever!

Speaking of gay videos...here's one that's apparently an annual event on Fire Island (Two towns on Fire Island are popular areas for gays). I am seeding this because its weird-- but also because it will probably offend some folks here...which is always a plus! jrSmiley_36_smiley_image.gif

FIRE ISLAND INVASION

But so much for drag queens-- here's what life was like in a more "straight" type of gay disco-- very authentic portrayal of what it was like in a "leather bar" in the late 1970s, the height of the Disco era:

Apparently this has gone viral on The Internet:

AOC opposes Daylight Savings Time because “the extra hour of sunlight drastically speeds up climate change”

Daylight Savings Time is at odds with the Green New Deal

npc-fav2.png?fit=140%2C140&ssl=1   NPC     March 10, 2019

In congress today, she spoke for a record three 3 hours and 58 minutes covering a variety of topics – all in a response to being asked “how will we pay for the Green New Deal?” Her monologue of an answer consisted of a myriad of reasons to vote for the Green New Deal as well as an explanation as to why we must immediately do away with Daylight Savings Time.

“If we change our times with the sole intent of increasing the amount of daylight we receive, that’s an extra hour of sun shine that will warm the planet. That’s one extra hour per day of extra heat warming our already unstable planet. We need to repeal Daylight Savings Time as a primary measure to decrease the rate of climate change. Less hours of sun shine equal less heat hitting Earth’s surface. We’re running out of time!” – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
