I have a daughter and a son and three grandaughters and one grandson and six great grandaughters and six great-grandsons and finally two great great granddaughters and one great great grandson.
I did the same thing, until my daughter became unable to do things like mow the lawn due to her health issues - she can't push the mower (can't work those core muscles because of the the scar tissue.)
My son and daughter were always treated equally, which could be at least one of the reasons why they so love, respect and admire each other. I cannot recall ever seeing or hearing of a fight between them, although I'm sure that that could be unusual.
That's awesome, Buzz. My brother and I weren't treated the same. He never had to do housework but I still had to do yard work and farm work. That's probably the source of all the tension we experienced with each other. My kids seem to really like each other, too
It's interesting, just how deeply our prejudiced stereotypes run. Ever since I heard "hunter - gatherer society", I assumed that "hunter" was male and "gatherer" was female. Hey! Morphology!
But.... it seems that the latest research has women hunters.
My wife and I raised two girls, I had to have the dog side with me to get any support. LOL. They were raised pagan and have always felt they were anyone's equal. (They made sure their husbands understood that too.)
I know I do.
I've got a mother, 2 sisters, and a daughter. my daughter has helped me embrace my 2nd class status best.
I have a son - I am for equality, no gender above the other.
my daughter runs the family...

Whew, I'm worn out just writing that.
Are they equal?
No, the girls dominate the boys...LOL
As long as it is a "fair fight".
It's always fair, Veronica.
I have a daughter and a son. I treated them equally while raising them. There was no "girl's chores or boy's chores"
I think my daughters father-in-law has heartburn over the way I raised her
