President Biden will deliver his first primetime address to the nation as commander-in-chief Thursday night, as the US marks the one-year anniversary of the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden's speech, scheduled for 8 p.m. EST, will come the night before he plans to sign his $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief package into law.

While text of his remarks have yet to be released, the president said at an event Wednesday that he planned to focus on "the next phase" of the virus relief effort in the wake of the bill's passage.

"Tomorrow night, I'm going on primetime to address the American people and talk about what we went through as a nation this past year," he told reporters, "But more importantly, I'm going to talk about what comes next.

"I'm going to launch the next phase of the COVID response and explain what we will do as a government and what we will ask of the American people."

"There is light at the end of this dark tunnel of the past year, but we cannot let our guard down now or assume that victory is inevitable. Together, we're going to get through this pandemic and usher in a healthier and more hopeful future," Biden continued.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that the speech would follow familiar Biden pandemic themes, urging sacrifice before an eventual return to normal.

"The president will look forward to highlighting the role of Americans — that Americans will play in beating the virus and moving the country toward getting back to normal," she said.

US health authorities have approved three COVID-19 vaccines, something that is sure to come up as Biden pledged last week that there will be enough vaccine doses for all American adults by May.

He will also likely address how some states are loosing restrictions on businesses and dropping mask mandates, given his recent rebuke that such ideas were the product of "Neanderthal thinking."

It was Wednesday, March 11, 2020, when the World Health Organization declared that the virus had reached pandemic-status.

Hours later, then-President Donald Trump delivered an address from the Oval Office where he announced a travel ban from Europe. The administration had already imposed travel restrictions on China by then.

This should be entertaining.  How much rehearsal time have Biden's handlers invested in this?

Trump and his supporters are off topic

It will be interesting to see how many mistakes he makes regardless how much info his advisors try to cram into that mush between his ears.

If he reads from the teleprompter he shouldn't make too many mistakes.  And I doubt if he will take questions, if he does I will be supprised.

I'm more interested in hearing anything new on the partisan side.  Will this just be a victory lap for his "victory" on the latest Covid bill?  Or will it be laying the groundwork for a new Covid bill?  Or will it lay the groundwork for his infrastructure bill?  How much more money will we borrow?

I can only hope that when the economy turns around that Washington starts doing something against the debt. But I doubt that will happen,  Congress just can't seem to do what is right when they could rather waste money.

Personally MAGA I'd much rather have a president that does make a mistake from time to time. It shows that person is human.

I'd also much rather have a president that makes mistakes instead of one that deceives us to get his own way.

yeah, but they all deceive us one way or another. What's that old joke.  How do  you tell if a politician is lying,  when you see his lips are moving.

Washington has devolved into partisan politics and neither party care for us outside of our votes provided we vote for them.

Totally agree. They are a bunch of con artists! I find it almost sad the lengths some go to to defend any of them.

Which is exactly what Biden is doing.     [DELETED]

No questions, I'm sure.

Can he successfully read a statement written by others? That's the question.

Joe Biden has spent his first 50 days in office demonstrating that he's not Trump.  But, at some point, Biden (and Democrats) will need to show that their 'not Trump' approach actually works.

The press has largely remained silent.  That honeymoon won't last forever.  The scrim for clickbait eyeballs means that Joe Biden cannot stay in the White House basement for his entire term.

By the time the leftist media actually gets sufficiently annoyed to call Biden, his administration and the Democrats on his lack of availability, they will have very likely gathered enough balls to acknowledge that Biden is simply the window dressing and the elder abuse will stop when he is removed courtesy of the 25th Amendment.   Nancy Pelosi was simply projecting the future when she spoke of it during the Trump administration.

That won't happen until Democrats need a sacrifice.  If the 'not Trump' approach doesn't work as promised and doesn't translate into 2022 midterm wins then Biden will be blamed.  Biden is tying himself to Democrat Congressional leadership so that the blame can be spread around.  Biden isn't trying to lead the Democrats; he's trying to protect his legacy already.

During those times, getting fewer and farther between, when Biden might actually be aware of who he is, his position and surroundings, I could agree with you.  But having had family suffering dementia and the ups and downs of that debilitating disease, and realizing how quickly it has manifested in Biden, I very seriously doubt if he will be aware enough by the end of summer, much less the end of the year to continue his current situation.

All of his handlers should be charged with elder abuse.
