The approval ratings for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have reached dismal new lows, according to a stunning, just-released poll.
In a survey published Sunday by USA Today, the president's approval rating stands at just 38 percent. According to USA Today, that's the lowest number they've ever recorded for a president at this point in his term — with the exception of Biden's predecessor, Donald Trump. Notably, independents — by a 7-to-1 margin (44% to 6%) — believe that the president has done a worse job than they thought he would.
The vice president fared equally poorly in the new poll. USA Today found that just 28 percent of those surveyed approve of Kamala Harris at the moment. In all, 51 percent disapprove of the vice president's job performance, and 21 percent are undecided.
The poll was taken Wednesday through Friday — so it does not factor in any bounce the administration may have received from passage of an infrastructure package.
That said, there was little good news to be found for Democrats. If the election were held now, according to the survey, 46 percent would vote for their local Republican Congressional candidate — compared to only 38 percent who say they would back their Democratic option. And only 29 percent approve of Congressional Democrats, compared to 35 percent for their Republican counterparts.

Well, at least their ratings are above congress. Barely in Harris's case.
Based on what is going on in the country (and the US place in the world) the question I have is how 38% can approve of the job he is doing? Are they paying attention at all or actually buying into "it's not my fault, it is covid and all those nasty people that won't get the vaccine" or "inflation is temporary" narrative he seems to be pushing.
These could be the ones that cry at the mention of a particular former President.
So, if history is a guide, 2024 will have Harris as the D nominee and the Trump as the R nominee.
Went from overly optimistic to cynical that quickly?
I certainly hope that our future ends up that way, but history for the past few decades has shown that the candidates for PotUS generally worsen over time.
I'm not so sure about Trump.
I do not expect either of them to be nominees.
Harris would be a horrible candidate IMO ... very undesirable. So I do not see a path for her and hope Biden maintains his health until the election.
Trump likely will not run. I think he will play his current game and suck as much love from his sycophants as he possibly can but will not put himself into a position to lose again.
My statement was not a prediction, it was a statement of disgust regarding the trend.
Trump is addicted to attention, and the presidential campaign is the ultimate in getting attention.
He doesnt care about losing because he doesnt believe he can lose. If he loses he was cheated - voila! - more attention.

I disagree. Trump's head would explode if he lost twice. He is spending his life right now trying to keep the smoke screen up to hide the fact that he lost in 2020. I suspect it eats him up inside. I am sure he would think very long and hard about running unless it was clear that he would win.
I tend to agree, but I think we're still in the 1st quarter of the game and a lot can happen between now and the 4th quarter.
That's how I see it. I think he'll try to position himself as some sort of kingmaker whose ring must be kissed for his blessing.
I hope not, That will make the third presidential election in a row that the choice is made between the lesser of two evils. I am tired of plugging my nose when I vote.
