Rice says she won't seek another House term, the latest exit on Long Island
Rice said in a statement that elected officials "must give all we have and then know when it is time to allow others to serve."

ALBANY — Rep. Kathleen Rice will not run for reelection in November, she announced on Tuesday, making her the third of four House members on Long Island to announce they are leaving at the end of their terms.
Rice, a Democrat who has represented a Long Island district for four terms, said in a statement that elected officials "must give all we have and then know when it is time to allow others to serve."
She becomes the 30th House Democrat nationwide to announce they would not run this fall as the party hopes to retain the majority in the mid-term elections.
"I will remain focused on protecting our democracy and serving my constituents throughout the rest of my term," Rice said.
The new lines that are poised to be in place this year do not dramatically change the district centered on southwestern Nassau County. It will go from a seat in which President Joe Biden received 56.2 percent of the vote in 2020 to one where he received 56.1 percent of the vote, according to numbers compiled by CUNY's Center for Urban Research.
Republicans made significant gains on Long Island in 2021, but area Democrats are confident the seat will remain blue.
"It'll be a safe Democratic seat," said Nassau County Democratic Chair Jay Jacobs. "We'll figure out the best person to represent that district and make that recommendation," he said, adding that the party could start putting out names "in a matter of days."
"I think that I understand her decision, and certainly I wish her well, [but] was a bit surprised to hear," Jacobs said.
Republican William Staniford, a tech company CEO, launched a campaign for the seat last month.
Both districts in western Nassau County will now feature open races. The seat to the north of Rice's is being vacated by Democrat Tom Suozzi as he runs for governor in a primary against Gov. Kathy Hochul.
And a Suffolk County seat in the House is also being vacated by Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin, who is running for governor in a GOP primary.

Translation ..... she’s served long enough to get the ridiculous pension and healthcare politicians have scammed for themselves so why fight it.
And she won't be part of a minority party that will be attacked by the liberal whackos for failing to protect their Biden budget busting legacy...
If she played her cards right I am sure there is a cushy board job on a company she has done favors for; a lobbyist job; or at very least a job at a Think Tank, for her to parachute into.
If not she should have cultivated enough friends at the beltway in 4 terms to still get insider information on the market.
Or a job in Brandon’s executive branch…
