The Grand Farce is about to Begin
"These hearings will allow us to examine the findings laid out in Mueller's report so that we can work to protect the rule of law and protect future elections through consideration of legislative and other remedies," Nadler said. "Given the threat posed by the President's alleged misconduct, our first hearing will focus on President Trump's most overt acts of obstruction. In the coming weeks, other hearings will focus on other important aspects of the Mueller report."

We the People

The House Judiciary Committee hasn't had much luck lately in trying to redo the Mueller investigation. Numerous administration officials have successfully dodged congressional subpoenas to appear before the committee, claiming executive privilege. The President has announced that he gave millions of documents to Robert Mueller during the Mueller investigation and has no interest in submitting to redundant congressional fishing expeditions. Robert Mueller has indicated that he would prefer not to testify. All of which has left Jerry Nadler and other democrats on the Committee with out their little political feature presentation - the one that was supposed to either set the stage for impeachment or so damage the President that he lose the 2020 election.

Lo and behold, the Committee is going to do the next best thing. They are going to reenact one of their favorite historical events - the Watergate hearings! Democrats have often tried to compare the "Russia probe" to Watergate and now they have finally convinced themselves that the two events are one in the same! In that spirit, the House Judiciary Committee will hold the hearings beginning today, featuring testimony of none other than John Dean, the former White House counsel whose legendary testimony sunk President Nixon.

For those too young to remember, Dean was the White House Counsel for Nixon, who testified publicly before a Senate Select Committee, explaining in great detail how President Nixon and his aides (drum roll please) obstructed justice!

John Dean testifying during the Watergate hearings

Dean's allegations against the President and others were substantiated by tape recordings that Nixon had kept for some unknown reason. All of it involving obstruction over a needless botched burglary via an administration which had won a landslide election. I suppose if democrats could have the nation relive something, Watergate would be it.

So, I suppose we will be treated to Dean's analysis of Donald Trump and the democrats perceived similarities between the crimes of the Nixon administration and the allegations of all manner of wrongdoing against the Trump administration. Maybe Dean can pause for a minute before he speaks and pose with the look of moral outrage on his face. A hero again! Then the democrats can thank him for coming, while making little speeches with a question tossed in here & there.

Let us not forget, this is about Congress fulfilling it's obligation to hold the President accountable.

Today it'd Dean, tomorrow its contempt of court for two honorable men and Wednesday the House Intelligence Committee will take a partisan look at Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
