House democrats pass H.R.6 " the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019"
"The Dream and Promise Act recognizes the urgent need to provide permanent protections without using this group as bargaining chips to grow the Deportation Force

While many Americans are horrified by an open border, House democrats passed a bill which would provide permanent protections and offer a pathway to citizenship for more than two million immigrants. The bill  provides permanent status not just to undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as minors, but also to those living in the U.S. under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) programs.

The bill most likely will fail in the US Senate.

The vote was 237 to 187. Seven Republicans voted Yea.  All the democrats voted Yea.

Here are the Republicans who voted Yes:

Bacon (NE-2)
Diaz-Balart (FL-25)
Fitzpatrick (PA-8)
Newhouse (WA-4)
Smith (NJ-4)
Hurd (TX-23)
Upton (MI-6)

As with Obama's DACA action, the doomed H.R.6 is obviously being used to garner Hispanic votes during an election year.

Unlimited amnesty for all is their ultimate goal. Once that is achieved borders will be worthless; so will local, state, and federal elections.

It is no longer about building other countries up; it is about tearing the US down.

I think the kids brought into the country who have grown up here, the "Dreamers", should be put on a fast track to citizenship. All others, including those seeking asylum need to get in line and wait and go through the process.

Before that is done, the border needs to be made as secure as possible. The Democrats are doing absolutely nothing to improve the situation down there, including providing funding for more processing facilities and more housing, especially for families....forget about the damn wall.

But this bill is just designed to garner the Hispanic vote next year. A large percentage of Hispanics who are citizens, or who have been in the US for generations, do not support this flood of illegal immigrants, or the party that encourages it.

The majority of the Dreamer kids have been here for many years and they've had ample opportunities to work with the system and apply for their own residency.

Can't disagree with you, but I suspect many of them weren't even aware of their status as their border jumping parents or relatives probably never brought it up

Correct. Since they've had the time, money, and opportunities (many given to them for free) to become doctors, lawyers, and educators, the least they could do is show their gratitude and assimilation by becoming a legal permanent resident or US citizen.

The whole point of HR6 is to provide a path to citizenship.

The"path to citizenship" has already been there and was established in 1986 under the Immigration Reform and Control Act and under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA or IIRAIRA), Division C of Pub.L. 104–208, 110 Stat. 3009-546, enacted September 30, 1996.  Illegal Aliens, which the Dreamers are, provided that they can pass the requirements, can apply for the "path".  All it takes is sitting down with a DHS employee and filing the paperwork.

The majority of those Democrats voting for that ridiculous piece of legislation do not live anywhere on or near the border and do not have to put up with consequences of large numbers of illegals crossing damaging and/or destroying their property. It is something they seem to choose to ignore. As far as dreamers, take them on a case by case basis, not blanket approval for all like the Dems want. But hey, there is no crisis at the border anyway right? Open borders = BS!

" While many Americans are horrified by an open border"

So which Republicans are suggesting we spend the billions on building a northern border wall? Oh, that's right, none of them because they are for open borders, they refuse to even build a small portion of wall between us and Canada. Why? Because even though 70% of the illegal immigrants get here by overstaying their visas, and Canada is the country where the majority of illegal overstays are coming from, they're NOT brown and don't speak a different language. So let's not fool ourselves, rational Americans know what this is all about. We know what it is that so many bitter and angry conservatives are pissed off about and it's not the "open border" or illegal immigrants, it's about their perceived "white culture" being "assaulted" by brown immigrants so they scream about wanting a wall between them and the "invaders" they have been all riled up about by lying piece of filth bigoted right wing pundits.

I want immigration reform, secure borders and a safe, legal option for migrant workers to come and work and pay taxes and then go home like so many other immigrant workers do from other countries. The immigrants are not the enemy, the poverty, violence, oppression and abusers they are fleeing from are the enemy. Let's spend our resources fighting those things, not tearing apart families simply because they don't look or speak like us.

Could you imagine if we had treated those coming from our norther border like we did those from the South? How would you react if this were the story we were reading?

" President Donald Trump's administration does not know how many migrant children were separated from their parents at the Northern border in the year before  the "zero-tolerance" policy launched , and is unlikely to figure it out, according to court papers filed Friday night."

"The total number of Canadian children separated from a parent or guardian by immigration authorities is unknown," according to the report.

The court filings on Friday, mandated by a federal judge in Minnesota, show the administration could not confirm or deny reports of thousands of additional family separations.

The Trump administration said in a court filing that reuniting thousands of migrant children separated from their parents or guardians at the U.S.- Canada border may not be “within the realm of the possible.”

And just so you know, this is not about hating on Canada. I love Canadians, but I also love Mexicans and all the other nationalities in South America regardless of their skin color, culture or language and I enjoy listening to other languages spoken.

Show us the migrant workers surging over the northern border from Canada?  Show us all those Canadians seeking refugee status?  Oh, that's right Canada is not a dictatorship nor is that nation an impoverished third world basket case. So,your entire argument is yet another false, disgusting claim of racism! If this is such a "racist" country, then why are all those non-whites risking their lives to get in?

Remember the rules over here!

I want immigration reform, secure borders and a safe, legal option for migrant workers to come and work and pay taxes and then go home like so many other immigrant workers do from other countries. The immigrants are not the enemy, the poverty, violence, oppression and abusers they are fleeing from are the enemy.

So, you now admit why they come. We can all agree on why they come. What is your idea of immigration reform?

Let's spend our resources fighting those things, not tearing apart families simply because they don't look or speak like us.

We tried that remember?  The money we gave to the corrupt failed states they come from, never got used for any of that.

And just so you know, this is not about hating on Canada. I love Canadians, but I also love Mexicans and all the other nationalities in South America regardless of their skin color, culture or language and I enjoy listening to other languages spoken.

So don't we all. Last warning on the race BS!
