A shopping trip in Chengdu, China
It was a fairly warm day for the end of February, but still a little overcast. We decided to go to an area where the shops are plentiful and not expensive. There are lots of department stores here with international brand names like Rolex, Gucci, Clinique, Coach, Bally, etc. but we prefer to buy similar products at a fraction of the price that those stores charge.
1. Typical shops
2. A colourful storefront
3. Many levels of stores
4. Items that are atrractive for the Chinese New Year
5. Lantern Alley
6. Kites for sale - It gets windy in the early Spring, and flying kites (which were, by the way invented in China) becomes a traditional passtime.
7. A typical flower shop
8. For the kids
9. Drapery shop - hanging beads for between rooms (reminds me of my hippie days)
10. So much colour - lanterns and other New Year decorations
11. Then to a park for a restful stroll - Forsythia is a sure sign of Spring
12. Time for a snack - sugar bread balls, 2 sticks of 5 on a stick for the equivalent of less than one US$ - delicious
13. A flowering tree - not sure of the name
14. Finally relax beside the rushing waters
