Donnie Poisonseed Sowed Divisiveness and Sorrow Throughout the USA

800

I am really sad to see how much so many people in the USA are suffering from the incompetent mishandling of the virus that Donnie knew how serious it was yet delayed (in his own words, so the people would not "panic") what any decent and competent leader would have done to contain the virus while the numbers were minimal.  Instead, he deflected his negligence by blaming others, and his fellow Republicans followed suit, as exemplified by the O'Donnell Republican Covid Playbook for the re-election of their "leader" i.e. - Blame China, Criticize Biden, Support Trump.

By the time any meaningful steps were taken to limit the damage, it was a patchwork quilt of States varying in the degree that they ignored the necessary guidelines for winning the war against a common enemy, depending upon their political leanings.  As well, there was/is the cultural preference for individual rights and freedoms instead of for the collective, the common good.  And so what the USA is experiencing is an out-of-control disaster that has wreaked death, sickness and financial loss in astronomical numbers - and that for a nation so advanced and powerful.

As Yogi Berra pontificated, it isn't over 'till it's over.  But will it be over even when a vaccine is available to the general public when so many have already said that they will refuse to be vaccinated?  And with all the last-minute roadblocks that Donnie is now sowing for Biden and Harris to have to overcome, it will be more difficult for Biden to get the USA back to where it could have been.  But the people know the method of that madness - it is so Donnie can keep his followers loyal for his 2024 candidacy, if the Republican Party is crazy enough to back him then.

My hopes, even though I am not an American, even though I live elsewhere, is that Biden and Harris will be able to succeed in their efforts to "make America great again" - an adage that means more now than it did before.

I suggest that you read and follow the rules of the Confucius group before commenting.

Well....maybe it has to start with each individual. After my appalling behavior this morning, I need to do a lot of work

what any decent and competent leader would have done to contain the virus while the numbers were minimal.

You mean  like those authorities in Wuhan who silenced Dr Li Wenliang

You mean lie and downplay the seriousness and ridicule the recommended safety precautions? That doesn't sound competent or decent to me.

No silly. I'm talking about Chinese government authorities at all levels...from local police to the top guy.

The delay in China was a week or so before the information became known in America, as Dr. Azar has said.  And China has contained the virus, and where there are small flareups, such as when someone arrives from elsewhere, millions of people are tested and containment is successful.  And then in the USA when it became known by the American authorities AND TRUMP in January, MONTHS were wasted while the virus proliferated out of control.  I said it in my article above, read it again.

he delay in China was a week

You mean actively lying about it to  the WHO? Or imprisoning the doctors who tried to bring it to the world's attention? Which delay?

As I said, the delay from China, and I never denied there was delay, was MINISCULE compared to the delay effected by your cherished POTUS.  When the USA discovered that cases were starting to happen in the USA, THAT is when a competent leadership would have gone all-out to contain the situation, or was God going to do the work for Mr. Incompetent.

He wasn't stopped sowing the seeds of division.

IMO, he'll try to take control of the RNC and stay in the public eye.

As for divisive- Trump had a hand- so did the Democrats; but somehow they keep getting a pass.

How about tending to your own backyard first before commenting on any other nation?

He's Canadian, Canada seems to be doing just fine and most are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Trump has two tiny hands but both have been feverishly trying to divide this nation for his own benefit since without demonizing the left as he has done he could never have gotten the religious right to support a serial adulterer and serial liar with two dozen accusations of sexual assault or rape against him. He had to lie about the left and then promise the right all sorts of things he could never actually deliver, and now he's trying to convince the right that it wasn't his fault for failing, it was all those damn leftist Democrats. Only the suckers and losers Trump loves actually believe his lies, but sadly we apparently have a plethora of them who actually voted for this disgusting pile of vomit a second time.

Yeah, they are doing fine. Hell, they legalized pot! And I agree that Canadiens are some of the nicest people. I spent about a week and a half traveling the AlCan when I left Alaska. Super nice people and always helpful

Some have forgotten how the Canadians took the American travellers into their homes when 9/11 occurred and the planes were not allowed to fly to the USA.  Some have forgotten the Canadian Caper, when Canadian diplomats took THEIR lives in their hands to rescue American hostages at the time of the Iran hostage crisis.  Even Jimmy Carter said that Affleck's movie Argo failed to credit the Canadians who did it, and were most exposed to danger.

You're right Trout, Canadians are not so bad, and sometimes it's good for Americans to read the words of someone who is NOT an American for what is bound to be a more objective viewpoint on issues in which Americans are bound to be more subjective.

I heard a joke about Canadians. What do Canadians do when told to get out of the pool?

Answer: They get out of the pool (it's a remark on their politeness)

Here's one about Americans...

Question:  What do Americans do when you tell them they should be wearing a mask.

Answer:  You had better be wearing a bullet-proof vest when you tell them.

Uh gee Buzz, Trump has sown seeds of "Divisiveness and Sorrow" throughout his entire period of existence.

The only real question is-----"Why are there so many that believe him?"

I'm sorry bbl-1, I wish I had the answer. I thought that perhaps it was just faulty education that prevented individuals from having adequate critical thinking skills, so I just don't understand it.

Poor education is only part of the problem. Many of his supporters are well educated but many of them embraced the greed and bigotry trump promoted.

I don't think he realized that the families and friends of the 200 to 250 thousand people who have died would end up not voting for him. That is a lot of tragedy that has befallen us and all his administration did from the top down was fail, pretend it was a hoax, pretend the virus was nothing but a cold or the flu, lie at every turn downplaying the reality. While he retained a fair amount of his base, the reality of what has happened on the ground to folks all over the country ended up making a statement at the ballot  box. A lot of Republicans ended up voting for Biden but still voted Republican down ballot retaining a Republican majority in down ballot races.

He convinced his base that this virus was no big deal and would go away. I'm thinking that the ones that stayed with him didn't have anyone in their family die of this disease so it was easy to believe it was a hoax or no big deal
