Festive China: Mid-Autumn Festival
The 15th day of the eighth lunar month is the Mid-Autumn Festival, a celebration that focuses on the moon. From ancient times, it has been customary for Chinese to reunite with family members and enjoy a sweet mooncake while observing the beautiful moon.
This yearning for the moon among Chinese people can be traced back to a fairytale: "Chang'e Flies to the Moon". What is the story about? Watch this episode of Festive China to find out more.

Visiting us today to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival are two of my wife's beautiful nieces here for a delicious lunch that included dressed oysters on the half shell, broad noodles, squash, peanut soup and a green vegetable I can't identify, and for dessert, cantaloup and what I really love to eat during this festival, delicious mooncakes.
I've eaten in a lot of Chinese restaurants in the U.S. but I don't think I've ever eaten a Mooncake. I was curious about them, and wondered if Amazon.com sells them. To my surprise they did-- different varieties-- and also some pretty fancy gift boxes.

But I was just looking to see what they had on Amazon. There is an "Asian Market" not too far away, I had been thinking of going there to see what they had.
Since this is the end of the three day holiday, they might have run out of mooncakes, so you should go there soon.
