The most disingenuous opinion ever offered
Some people are so unscrupulous, you wonder how they manage to live with themselves. Case in point - per Robert DuPont:
While Jahars marijuana use did not directly make him a terrorist, it closed the door to his dreams of being an engineer or physician and it opened the door to his suicidal violence.
What????? It gets better:
What if Jahar had been required to take drug tests to obtain and maintain a drivers license?
Gee, that's not an insanely intrusive position for the government to occupy. So, in other words, it's okay to drink alcohol to the point of liver failure - we can just assume that you will be doing this physically impairing activity only when you aren't planning on driving a car - but marijuana, we really need to test every licensed driver regularly to make sure that you don't indulge in this benign,non-physically impairingsubstance EVER.
Yes America, this genius is attempting to use the actions of a terrorist to scare you into thinking that it would be best if the government had full access to your urine in return for your right to drive a car. I'm pretty sure that any terrorist in the world would agree that this means the terrorist in question actually accomplished his goal of attacking anddiminishingyour freedom as an American ... even more than the so-called war on terrorism has already done to date.
So strange - I wonder why he could possibly be compelled to preach such garbage? Oh - maybe this has something to do with it:
DuPont runs a company that sells drug-testing services
See the whole pathetic story here: http://reason.com/blog/2013/05/21/mandatory-drug-testing-couldve-prevented
The current status of drug testing in the US is already far too intrusive. Alcohol, when compared to marijuana, is a far worse product in terms of your own health, and the health of others on the road around you. It's no secret why marijuana is criminalized, and it has nothing to do with physical and/or mental health effects. Criminalization of marijuana does far more damage to this country than the drug itself could ever do. States are wising up to this, and soon the federal government will have no choice but to follow suit.
Interesting article
Not so fast.
I know both engineers and Physicians that smoke.
And they drive themselves to work.
In engineering college, it would have been hard for me to find one that didn't smoke.
Interesting article indeed. The 4th amendment is already void where prohibited by law in this nation and working Americans kneel and submit to drug test in the work place daily. I would imagine a large segment of the country probably thinks this is a fine and dandy concept.
Evidently, the ghost of Harry J Anslinger resides in the noggins of the weak minded. On the other hand, this is one of those, Oh, it's a profit thang, that pretty much sums up the manner in which this country looks at any and all issues. It is my opinion that future generations, if there are any, will look back on our "war on drugs" and believe we were barbarians.
Remember the "if you smoke pot, you support terrorism" propaganda that was slouching around for awhile? Same old same old.
