It was perhaps the central paradox for voters wondering what to believe in the rhetoric, because it defied logic to believe it all. Are Americans living in a dystopia or in an America made great again by Trump?
Four years ago, candidate Trump promised that if he won, "The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end. Beginning on January 20th, 2017, safety will be restored.”
Now? “I’ve never seen our streets go this bad so quickly," Pat Lynch, representing tens of thousands of New York police officers, told the GOP proceedings. “We are staring down the barrel of a public safety disaster.” He said this in remarks singing Trump's praises.
Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal lawyer and a former New York mayor, spoke of years of “carnage” and violence rising now, and implored, “Mr. President, make our nation safe again."
All of the convention's apocalyptic rhetoric was in service of bashing Trump challenger Joe Biden, Democratic mayors and national Democrats both in and out of office as being soft on violence and anarchy. Yet the landscape of lawlessness they described is Trump's America now.
Hyperbole suffused the proceedings, both when Trump and his supporters hailed his record and when they denounced the other side. Outright falsehoods were heard every night on the social justice protests, the coronavirus, the economy and Biden's agenda.
All of the convention's apocalyptic rhetoric was in service of bashing Trump challenger Joe Biden, Democratic mayors and national Democrats both in and out of office as being soft on violence and anarchy. Yet the landscape of lawlessness they described is Trump's America now.
All the violence that has go on for months now....seems to be organized and well funded.
It appears that most of the participants belong to Antifa or BLM, known thugs and troublemakers
Sadly, left wing politicians and "leaders" seem to condone the violence and actively resist offers of Federal help in cleaning this mess up

It does? How so Greg? You do know that the AP did a study of arrests in the last few months and found little to no connection of those arrested with Antifa OR 'known thugs and troublemakers' right?
As an example, the majority of arrests in Kenosha are for violation of the curfew. Hardly a part of a 'landscape of lawlessness'.

What has Trump done? Name ONE thing Trump has done to address the violence and anarchy.
Firing teargas at peaceful protesters and holding up a bible don't count...
Oh and BTFW, if he CAN fix it, why isn't he doing it? Why wait until AFTER the election? WTF has he been waiting for all this time?
Come on Greg, you seem to think that the Feds can 'clean up the mess' so explain Trump's abdication.

Pretty devastating (to Trump) list of fact checks. No one should vote for the POS based on this fact check (and others like it ) alone.
But alas John, it seems that no amount of empirical evidence will sway Trump's sycophants. As far as they are concerned, the RNC was wonderful, politicizing OUR White House is AWESOME and it doesn't matter that the vast majority of what was said was stated to gaslight them.
I doubt if most Trumpsters , here and elsewhere, will even read that list of fact checks about Trump's claims. They don't want anything interfering with their idolatry of their "hero".
A hero is a sammich and in Trump's case...all bologna.
