The bill was drafted by the GOP-led Texas legislature.
Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesdaysigned into law a GOP-led bill that includes some of the most comprehensive voting-reform measure in the country.
State Democratic lawmakers had for months attempt to block the passage of the bill, even leaving the state to keep their Republican counterparts from having enough Assembly members to hold a vote.
Even before Abbott's signing, several groups, largely liberal leaning and opposed the new restrictions on mail-in voting and other balloting, mounted court challenges.
What it means:
▪︎ Bans 24-hour and drive-thru voting
▪︎ New vote-by-mail ID mandates
▪︎ Bans officials from mailing unsolicited mail-in ballot applications
▪︎ Empowers poll watchers
▪︎ New requirements for assisting voters
▪︎ Monthly voter roll checks
Might as well start this off right.
Can anyone tell me what in the new law is racist or restricts voting beyond what ALL states restrict regarding voter identification and times and days of voting?
That's what the Court should be asking.
True, but I am really looking forward to someone here who has made the racist or suppressive claims supplying their thoughts.
What voter fraud related to mail in voting was reported by the state of Texas?
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
prevention of what? something that doesnt exist?
"voter reform" in red states is invariably targeted at minority voters.
Ask and ye shall receive.
None that I know of,
Got an answer to my question?
Nope. Since there was no mail voting fraud the "reforms" are illegitimate.
It's like I used to tell the guys in the shop when an Industrial Engineer and did time studies and had to change the piece rate(s). If you started work tomorrow and this was the rate you wouldn't bitch.
Times and rules change John. And there is nothing wrong with this legislation.
Ok, so now you admit that you can not say what is racist or suppressive about the law, but still want to make that claim?
Senseless.
Patently false. Even if you think that, how would that nullify the ENTIRE law? Only a court can decide if it is illegitimate.
Doesn't exactly fit in with the anti-big brother and small government that the republican party campaigns on.
That's what law is about....to prevent further fraud.

Are we reduced to inventing quotes now?
Unlike you, I have a talent for creating content. [deleted]
I am sure that is due to two things:
your intensive practice of it and my unwillingness to invent things.
It's known as biting humor. Try and learn something.
What you taught me above is that you like to complain about stuff but can't articulate what it is you are complaining about.
That it is not!
Invariably, you're always the first one to mention race.
An outrageously dishonest comment.
