Chris Wallace is leaving Fox News. He is set to join CNN's soon-to-launch streaming platform CNN+, as first reported by Variety and confirmed by Mediaite.

In an announcement made at the close of this week's Fox News Sunday, Wallace shared news of his departure.

"After 18 years — this is my final FOX News Sunday," Wallace said. "It is the last time — and I say this with real sadness — we will meet like this. Eighteen years ago, the bosses here at Fox promised me they would never interfere with a guest I booked or a question I asked. And they kept that promise. I have been free to report to the best of my ability, to cover the stories I think are important, to hold our country's leaders to account. It's been a great ride. We've covered five presidential elections, interviewed every president since George H.W. Bush, travelled the world — sitting down with France's Emanuel Macron and Russia's Vladimir Putin. And I've gotten to spend Sunday mornings with you. It may sound corny, but I feel we've built a community here. There's a lot you can do on Sundays. The fact you've chosen to spend this hour with us is something I cherish. But after 18 years, I have decided to leave Fox. I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I'm interested in. I'm ready for a new adventure. And I hope you'll check it out. And so —for the last time, dear friends — that's it for today. Have a great week. And I hope you'll keep watching FOX News Sunday."

In a statement, Fox News media said, "We are extremely proud of our journalism and the stellar team that Chris Wallace was a part of for 18 years. The legacy of FOX News Sunday will continue with our star journalists, many of whom will rotate in the position until a permanent host is named."

Are there other "ethical" journalists as FoxNews?  Off hand, none come to mind.

Ugh! That sounds dreadful.

It’s a shame to see an actual news man step down, but maybe he can improve CNN. All these networks, taken as a whole are a fucking mess, which is why I don’t actually watch them very often. I don’t mean to make Wallace sound legendary or anything, but from what little I have seen, he sure looks great by comparison to the people around him in the schedule.

From what I read he is going to the CNN online platform. He won't be on CNN itself.

Sort of like that fox news online nation.

His show for the record was on Fox over the air network as a live Sunday news show.  It only ran later in the day as re runs on the Fox News Channel.  Just like Meet the Press was on NBC and later re aired on MSNBC.  Fox has enough on air News talent to cover Fox News Sunday without going to opinion journalists like the rest of the networks Sunday morning news talk shows do.

Wallace is a registered Democrat, he'll be happier at a network that shares his political philosophy...

John is happy cause he thinks it's important... {chuckle}

Ridiculous. XX was trying to claim that Wallace worked for the Fox network and not Fox News.

Simply not true.

Actually, I’m not.  It is as I stated.  Fox News Sunday is as I stated sourced from Fox Broadcast channel, not Fox News Channel.  In fact Fox News Sunday started on Fox Broadcasting with Tony Snow before there ever was a Fox News Channel.

Fox News Sunday

Your wrong John....

Fox News Washington Bureau is the current producer... It's filming locations are Washington DC. and Seattle WA. and is the main production facility for Fox News Channel, they just celebrated 25 years on the air...

It was originally produced by Fox News until the launch of Fox News Channel in 1996... then it switched to the WA Bureau as soon as it opened...

I don’t mean to make Wallace sound legendary

His father Mike is legendary, and it's where he obtained his polish and sense of the real story... I don't think he's going to like the working conditions on any of the other networks either...

Where he broadcasts means nothing, I don't watch any network entertainment programs...

I'm so glad to see Chris leave Fox. IMO he is the only one at Fox that has any real integrity and needs to get out of the Fox cesspool before he drowns in it. Now he has a chance to move one to a much better environment where he can spread his wings more and regain his dignity. Chris has class, which Fox does not, and has managed to maintain his class and dignity in spite of the cesspool he has worked in at Fox.

Well done, Chris!

Come on Ed, we know that the major reason for that is because a guy that told nearly 30,000 lies in 4 years said so. Trump said CNN was fake news and his supporters bought it hook, line and sinker. Doesn't make it true though. To be fair, Fox spins the shit out of things and they lie by omission of facts. Hell, Hannity has made a career out of it.

Example: Hannity was complaining that people are quitting their jobs in record numbers but managed to leave out the fact that many are moving to work from home, moving geographically, or, moving to better paying jobs. Again, lying by omission. Do people on the left do it to? Of course they do, but not to the degree that fox and it's talking heads do, it's not even close.

My favorite Chris Wallace moment was when he said to Dick Cheney, "You really left President Obama a huge mess to clean up, didn't you"? Cheney just sat there and stared at Wallace.
