The Supreme Court is poised to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an unprecedented leak of a draft opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito.
The draft leak obtained by Politico was written in early February. It was not immediately clear if it has been rewritten or revised. Fox News is not being waived off the story.
Until an official opinion is signed and released by the Court, Roe v. Wade remains the law of the land. Drafts circulate and change, as do votes.
Should Roe v. Wade be overturned, abortions would be left for the states to decide.

A despicable, unprecedented leak by someone trying to influence the Court only proves what a disastrous decision Roe was.
It's obviously a political issue, as this demonstrates.
As Scotusblog tweeted:
"It’s impossible to overstate the earthquake this will cause inside the Court, in terms of the destruction of trust among the Justices and staff. This leak is the gravest, most unforgivable sin."
What's interesting is that Alito is the author. Roberts, who apparently hasn't voted, would have probably assigned the opinion to himself. So that makes Thomas the most senior justice in the majority and I'm really surprised, given his history, he didn't author it. Maybe his health caused him to step back. Or maybe Alito;s reasoning appeals to the other three and he stepped back for political reasons.
