Elon Musk called the woman who accused him of sexually harassing her flight-attendant friend a 'far left' actor 'with a major political axe to grind'

Elon Musk is facing a sexual-misconduct claim relating to an incident alleged to have taken place aboard his private jet in 2016. Jae C. Hong/AP
  • Elon Musk used Twitter on Thursday to rebut a woman's claim of sexual harassment.

  • Musk called the accusations "utterly untrue" and called a person who talked to Insider a "liar."

  • He also called the source "a far left activist/actress in LA with a major political axe to grind."

Elon Musk took to Twitter on Thursday night to hit out at a woman who accused him of sexually harassing her friend aboard his private jet in 2016.

Insider published a report earlier Thursday   in which Musk was accused of exposing himself during a massage and offering to buy a horse for a SpaceX flight attendant if she were willing to perform a sex act on him.

About seven hours after the piece was published, Musk responded to a Twitter user who wrote: "Where were these wild accusations against @elonmusk before he took a stand against the establishment?"

"Exactly," Musk   tweeted ,   adding   that the "wild accusations" were "utterly untrue."

He then called out a friend of the flight attendant who had made the claims and who talked to Insider for the article.

"But I have a challenge to this liar who claims their friend saw me 'exposed' — describe just one thing, anything at all (scars, tattoos, …) that isn't known by the public," Musk   tweeted . "She won't be able to do so, because it never happened."

He went on to describe the woman's friend as "a far left activist/actress in LA with a major political axe to grind."

Asked by a Twitter user whether Musk responded to Insider's   request for comment ,   he tweeted : "No, it was clear that their only goal was a hit price to interfere with the Twitter acquisition. The story was written before they even talked to me."

Contrary to Musk's claim, Insider quoted a response from him in its article. Answering via email, he said there was "a lot more to this story."

"If I were inclined to engage in sexual harassment, this is unlikely to be the first time in my entire 30-year career that it comes to light," he wrote to Insider, also calling the story a "politically motivated hit piece."

He also requested and was given more time to respond but ultimately gave no further comment before the story was published.

Musk, the world's richest person, has repeatedly   argued   he is   being attacked for his political views . This week, he   called the Democratic Party a "party of division and hate"   while vowing to vote Republican.

I thought Musk borrowed money and he and his partners lived in their office to keep expenses low when he started Zip2.  Musk was able to persuade Navteq, to give him free mapping software. Musk wrote the code that linked business listing databases and maps together.  He grew the Zip2 by convincing businesses to pay to be included in the application.

I think that I read that he sold his first software, a game, when he was 12 years old.

What do you know about his parents and why do you think that he was never told no?

It isn't hard to imagine that growing up white in South Africa is a way to learn how to be an asshole with some poor instincts for helping to make America a better version of itself.

It's a shame because Elon Musk's engineering instincts seem to mostly have goals that are attractive to the left. The man is capable of taking leadership in getting our automobiles powered by electricity and ultimately alternative and renewable sources. He is capable of deploying solar energy and internet access to places that are off the grid.

And then the man needs to be a dick 24/7.

What a tragedy. It will ultimately be his downfall.

No, they employ and pay people to work and generate a profit for the owner(s) of the business..  I have never seen a job that gives a rat's ass about your sense of accomplishment, they leave that up to the individual employee.

Give to charity?

If it wasn't a tax write off, would they?

Give back to the community?

Would like some examples of that.

They don't have to do that you know.

Do what?

Employ people to run a business, to make a profit?  Can you list a single business that does not have any employees?

Donate to charity to write it off their taxes, or for advertisements to push their brand?

The company I work for also has those options, however the truth of the matter is that they only have them because they wouldn't be able to retain any employees without them.  There is no evidence your company is any different.

Don't misunderstand.  Some companies do better by their employees than other.  I work at a good one myself.  However the truth of the matter is that they do not do any of these things, without getting something in return.  Whether it is employee retention, or appearing in such a way to attract more (better) employees.

One of the biggest things these companies see is the need to have employees in order to make money.  But too many of them, at first signs of an economic turn down, also see their employees as disposable.  They would rather eliminate those employees than have a drop in their profit margin.

I do not discount that there are legitimate cases of sexual misconduct/harassment happening, and it is wrong on all levels - but when someone is rocking the boat by speaking out against the establishment and sexual misconduct allegations POP up from years ago, I tend to want proof, not accusations made by Aunt Betty's cousin Jeannie

What's next, is Bezos going to be the next target of sexual misconduct?

[why are there never current cases of sexual misconduct?]

Same here. A little proof is all that is needed.

"But I have a challenge to this liar who claims their friend saw me 'exposed' — describe just one thing, anything at all (scars, tattoos, …) that isn't known by the public," Musk tweeted . "She won't be able to do so, because it never happened."

Apparently he must have a scar or tattoo on or near his rocket that she should be able to identify.

When you come out with allegations that turn out to be false you hurt every women who has a legitimate claim.

I read that a whack a doo in DC says Musk is a threat to democracy .. perhaps creating a sexual misconduct case with stop said threat to democracy ?

" SpaceX , the aerospace firm founded by Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest man, paid a flight attendant $250,000 to settle a sexual misconduct claim against Musk in 2018 , Insider has learned."

SpaceX Paid $250,000 to a Flight Attendant Who Accused Elon Musk of Sexual Misconduct (businessinsider.com)

So Democrats went back in time four years, long before Musk tried to buy Twitter, and got some flight attendant who worked for Musk to accuse him all to sabotage his attempt to force a private social media company to host white supremacists and domestic terrorists/insurrectionists aka right wing conservative extremists views? Now that's a wild conspiracy theory, but hey, with a large majority of Republicans believing Qanon bullshit, I'm sure it's already a common belief among the monumentally gullible and clearly poorly educated base that right wing conservative representatives cherish.

Fair enough ...

The stars have now aligned so that she can probably beat the NDA and cash in well beyond any penalties Musk will try to stick her with

However, the original comment does not read that way to me .. saying that the stars have now aligned, the NDA can prob be beat .. then state 'cash in' well beyond any penalties, which are provided for in the NDA, it will not be Musk exacting the penalties .. there is a legal agreement with SpaceX..

Either way it is tabloid fodder  ..  250k severance does not prove quilt, nor does if prove her silence was bought .. it is my understanding that NDAs as well as non compete agreements are signed by many employees of tech companies .. hell my son is working for a marijuana dispensary and had to sign a NDA as a condition of employment..

Remains to be seen how the story continues to unfold

Have a nice evening

Maybe I was unclear.

I find the "accusation" against Elon Musk to be believable.

That doesn't mean I put 100% stock in it. Everything we think we know in this world we only think we know. We heard it somewhere. We read it somewhere. A textbook told us it is correct. But as individuals none of us really knows anything. We believe what we were told we should believe based upon this or that authority we put faith in. And when it comes to things we read in the press the best I can do for myself is put an asterisk next to every factoid with some measure of how probable it is that this or that thing is true.

So I do believe the story that this woman pursuing a career as a flight attendant with Space X was encouraged to get training as a masseuse and it culminated with Elon Musk expecting a happy ending after a massage.

If this story is true it is disgusting.

How would you feel if this was your daughter pursuing a career as a spaceflight attendant and this was how she was treated?

How should we feel if our daughter was an intern at the White House and she wound up in a scandal because she was exposed for giving the president oral sex?

Both of these lurid tales are/were violations of workplace rules and laws and for obvious reason.

This woman no longer seems to think that she needs to keep her silence. Let's just hope she doesn't get chewed up and spit out by the system. Because that is what the system does to these women.

I will start at the bottom and work my way up .. you def bounced around

This woman no longer seems to think that she needs to keep her silence. Let's just hope she doesn't get chewed up and spit out by the system. Because that is what the system does to these women.

For starters 'she' did not release this 'information' to the press - was she part of the release, perhaps - remains to be seen .. chewed up and spit out by the system?  Do you hear yourself .. Have you been in America very long?  Ask Monica Lewinsky about being chewed up and spit out .. and the sick thing about all that, she never once made anything public, she trusted the wrong person... Bill Clinton being one of them...

How should we feel if our daughter was an intern at the White House and she wound up in a scandal because she was exposed for giving the president oral sex?

Guess I got ahead of myself .. but let us jump right in .. how would 'we' like to be the mother of the daughter that had oral sex with the president and watch H. Clinton demonize her on TV .. then watch said demonize'r run for president?  spitting out shit like 'we must believe the victim?  Ooo wait what about the women that said B. Clinton sexually assaulted or raped them .. how would you like to be them and have to listen to H. Clinton talk about believing the victim..?

Both of these lurid tales are/were violations of workplace rules and laws and for obvious reason.

Yeah, whatever...

How would you feel if this was your daughter pursuing a career as a spaceflight attendant and this was how she was treated?

Do not have a daughter .. but I would hope she would not allow herself [if I did have one] to become a victim of anything  - had she been placed in the situation, she would have busted his nutz and insisted the plane be brought to the ground ... and only settled for 500+ million bucks to keep quiet!

If this story is true it is disgusting.

again ... yeah, whatever.

So I do believe the story that this woman pursuing a career as a flight attendant with Space X was encouraged to get training as amasseuseand it culminated with Elon Musk expecting a happy ending after a massage.

Good for you...

That doesn't mean I put 100% stock in it. Everything we think we know in this world we only think we know. We heard it somewhere. We read it somewhere. A textbook told us it is correct. What the fuck?  Never been a fan of the term 'sheeple' .. but I think you just defined it for me ...

I find the "accusation" against Elon Musk to be believable.

Good for you .. now if you had a son and a friend of someone 6 years later, went to the press and said they were told he allegedly did this 'disgusting' thing .. how would you feel?  I have sons .. I know how I would feel!

Maybe I was unclear.

No, I think you made your brand of ignorance quite clear from jump....!  You made it clear that it was all about the stars aligning, legal agreements being broken and cashing in  .. you made an attempt at walking it back - then doubled down on 'facts' be damn'd.....  Accusations rule Elon did it!

You should read the Business Insider Story it details the nature of the reporting and what documents they have either seen or have a sworn statement about.

The legal counsel for SpaceX gave a sort of non-denial as a response to the inquiry.

Reached via cell phone, SpaceX vice president of legal Christopher Cardaci said, "I'm not going to comment on any settlement agreements."

Not quite the same as "there was no settlement agreement" "there was no NDA with this person."

I find myself wondering if Musk could wind up under a subpoena answering questions about this incident. There are probably lawmakers dying to expose and investigate various aspects of Tesla's and SpaceX's toxic workplace issues.

The article describes the due diligence did in reporting the story, including contacting Tesla.

The part that stretches credulity is that the friend, who is not bound by the NDA, reported it to Business Insider without the knowledge of the victim who is bound by the NDA. The thing is, an NDA such as the one described in this story would no longer be legal in California. It's not clear that the old NDA is all that enforceable and attempting to sue the victim would just open up the entire incident to scrutiny.

I don't think Musk has a clear way to address it. It's added to the list of problems he has in California.

Whiped out of what, Musk was supposedly already naked,

He was supposedly covered from the waist by a single sheet.

Stock options Musk was awarded in 2012 are set to expire in August next year. In order to exercise them, he has to pay income tax on the gain.

Rather than take a salary or cash bonus, Musk’s wealth comes from stock awards and gains in Tesla’s share price.

Though Tesla shares have taken a tumble since Musk’s Twitter poll, they remain incredibly valuable — the stock is up 28% year-to-date.

When Musk wants cash, he can simply borrow money using his company’s stock as collateral. However, this practice has been criticized by some politicians as a   tax loophole   for the mega-rich.

Earlier this year, ProPublica   published an investigation   showing Musk and several other billionaires paid no federal income taxes in 2018.

Between 2014 and 2018, Musk paid $455 million in taxes on $1.52 billion of income, according to ProPublica, despite his wealth growing by $13.9 billion over that period.

This is pretty shocking. It took the dems a full month to find someone to accuse Elon of sexual misconduct after he had the audacity to buy one of their branches of propaganda. They are slipping. Maybe they were looking for another way to call Republicans racist and when they found replacement bullshit they could turn their full attention to try and bring Elon down.

I have an alternate take. Elon doesn't mind the hot press he will get telling the sub-billionaire class that they can get happy endings in outer space.

What else is SpaceX good for?

Well starting in 2020.. getting astronauts to the space station .. getting supplies to the space station ... as well as getting Starlink satellites in orbit to save the Ukraine ..

Without SpaceX would would still be dependent on Russia for International Space Station Support and without Starllink, Ukraine might be losing.

Before I go .. I must ask where do you get your information from, as I think you should avoid that source .. I am beginning to wonder if you even know who  Elon Musk is....

I can't stay mad at Elon Musk as an engineer tech entrepreneur.

But as a human being the man needs work.
