The Biden administration on Thursday warned Texas that it would sue the Lone Star state if it implements a law that would allow state officials to arrest immigrants who cross the border illegally.
The Justice Department said it would file a lawsuit against the legislation titled SB4, by Jan. 3, unless Texas assured the administration that the state would not go through with enforcing the measure.
"Because SB 4 is unconstitutional and will disrupt the federal government's operations, we request that Texas forbear in its enforcement," Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton said in a letter to Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott, according to CBS News.
Abbott signed the measure into law earlier this month. It is slated to take effect in March of 2024.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and other groups have already filed lawsuits against this law.
"The bill overrides bedrock constitutional principles and flouts federal immigration law while harming Texans, in particular Brown and Black communities," said Adriana Pinon, legal director of the ACLU of Texas.
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd, meanwhile, praised Abbott's border security measure.
"Border Patrol agents nationwide, not just in Texas, are grateful for Governor Abbott's leadership and willingness to recognize that it is the rule of law that keeps all Americans safe," Judd said.

Republicans/Conservatives need to insist that Brandon close our borders and enforce all of our immigration laws before any talks of immigration reform start. Also, there will be no amnesty- end of story. The second the Dems insist on one it ends all negotiations.
It's amazing how the Democrats and their lemmings don't understand, for immigration reform to be effective, the border needs to be far more secure than it is right now.

So, why is Biden tougher on Texas than he is on Mexico? Seems like Eric Adams should be demanding that President Manuel Obrador pay part of the costs of housing the migrants Mexico dumps onto the United States.
Now Obrador has started requesting more aid from the United States. And Biden will likely send more money to Mexico before he sends money to New York. And Biden will send a lot more money to New York before he sends any to Texas. Obrador has even given Biden an ass cover by blaming Cuba. As if that explains the Africans, Asians, and who knows what else that is being dumped onto the US by Mexico. Illegal immigration has been good for Mexico; Mexico gets to cherry pick the best of the crop and dump the waste onto Texas. Naturally Biden will claim that the problem is Abbott's fault.
Biden's plan is working. Our country now adds more illegal aliens a month than new American citizens are born.
