Mainstream media disinformation more powerful and destructive than QAnon
No, it takes a sophisticated operator to take the central problem of American life, the agonizing death of our middle class, and cover it up with a smokescreen of manufactured race hatred. You'd really need to be, as CNN would put it, a "disinformation network" to pull that off. The irony, because everything is irony, is that CNN itself has become a disinformation network far more powerful than QAnon, and far more destructive.

The liberal mainstream media and big tech social media are public enemy number one when it comes to misinformation and spreading secular progressive propaganda.  The hate Trump and his supporters, misinformation about tree hugging envirowhackism, socializes medicine, combined with cancel culture and attempts to get government to censor opposing points of view make them of no value to our country.

The mainstream media's focus on race is a smokescreen to hide America's biggest problem

Tucker Carlson 11 hours ago

We at " Tucker Carlson Tonight " have watched with growing amusement as our media gatekeepers thrash about in a frenzy of foaming hysteria at the possibility that someone, somewhere might dare to present facts or form opinions without their express written permission. Freelance thinking is what they hate most, because it's a threat to their monopoly. They can't say that out loud, so instead they call it "disinformation."

"Disinformation is the real threat," says the guy who thinks his union has the contract on bringing you the news. It's ridiculous.

However, before you judge these people, take a moment and feel some compassion. Imagine if you had spent 30 years making a good living as a car mechanic, and all of a sudden GM invents an engine that anyone can fix at home with a screwdriver. You'd be upset. That's how CNN feels about the internet. It's exposing their scam, so naturally, they're a little irrational about it.

The thing about disinformation, they're telling us, is not that it's simply harmful to you personally. It's not like eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's or sneaking a smoke while the kids are at school. Dsinformation isn't a sin, it's a crime. Disinformation is an offense against this country, an attack on America and, more critically, on something called our "norms."

CNN GIVES MORE COVER TO DISGRACED CUOMO AS GUEST CLAIMS LACK OF 'HARD EVIDENCE' IN NURSING HOME SCANDAL

If we're being completely honest, there is a kernel of truth in what they're yelling about. There is disinformation out there and it does hurt people, imparing their ability to make wise decisions. You can't know what to do next if you don't know what's really going on. A lot of people in this country are in that position right now. We saw evidence of it just this week.

We recently read a research paper called " How Informed are Americans about Race and Policing ?" It was published by the Skeptic Research Center , and it's a pretty amazing document. The researchers asked people to estimate the number of unarmed African-Americans who were killed by police in 2019. Accrding to the results, 44% of Americans who describe themselves as liberal believe about 1,000 or more than 1,000 unarmed African-Americans were gunned down by cops that year. The actual number of unarmed African-Americans killed by the police in 2019 was 27.

The rest of the study found similar results: Self-described liberals, for example, believe that a strong majority of people killed by police in 2019 were African-Americans. The actual percentage was less than half that, closer to 25%.

These are not small mistakes. A lot of Americans are completely and utterly misinformed, and that has actual consequences. Public policy can change dramatically on the basis of things people think they know but don't actually know. So it's worth finding out where the public is getting all this "disinformation."

COVID CONSPIRACY THEORY SHOWS VAST REACH OF CHINESE DISINFORMATION

Is it QAnon? Marjorie Taylor Greene's Twitter feed? The Kremlin? The Proud Boys? Alex Jones?

The answer is none of the above. The answer is cable news and politicians talking on TV. They're the ones spreading disinformation to Americans. Apparently, not only are huge numbers of unarmed African-Americans murdered every year because of their race, to deny or even question that fact is to effectively participate in those killings yourself.

Where, and this is the missing piece of the puzzle, are all the victims of this indiscriminate racial violence? Last month, MSNBC was pretty sure they had found one. The channel claimed cops had tried to execute an unarmed African-American man called Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. They repeated the claim that Jacob Blake was unarmed again and again and again.

However, someone in MSNBC's news division forgot to check with Jacob Blake about that because a week later, Blake himself admitted on camera that he was, in fact, armed.

JACOB BLAKE ADMITS HE HAD A KNIFE WHEN HE WAS SHOT BY POLICE

JACOB BLAKE, JAN. 14: I'm rattled, you know? I realized I had dropped my knife, a little pocket knife, so I picked it up after I got off of him, because they Tased me and I fell on top of them ... I shouldn't have picked it up, only considering what was going on at that time, I wasn't thinking clearly.

We feel sorry for Jacob Blake, whose life has been changed forever, but his story is not quite the neat little morality tale we thought it was, is it?

We can give you many examples. Here's one from the weekend. Hundreds of activists gathered in New York to stage a march against White nationalism. They said they were seeking justice for an 84-year-old man from Thailand who had been attacked in San Francisco and later died from his injuries.

Protesters stormed through Washington Square Park chanting slogans like "Whose streets? Our streets!" One held a sign that read, "White nationalism is the virus." Maybe it is, but it's hard to know exactly who's been infected with it. Police have arrested a 19-year-old man called Antoine Watson for the crime, and let's just say it's hard to imagine that Antoine Watson is a White supremacist.

VIDEO SHOWS SHOCKING ASSAULT THAT LEFT 84-YEAR-OLD SAN FRANCISCO MAN DEAD

So why are they suggesting otherwise? An interesting theory comes to us from a researcher called Zach Goldberg , who does not work at CNN. Goldberg looked at every time the term "racism" was used in America's largest newspapers and noticed a trend. There was a noticeable spike just after 2011, which not coincidentally was right around the time of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

When people are starting to talk about what Wall Street actually does in public, all at once journalists agree that the real problem with America is racism. America is not a place with a screwed-up economic system that rewards a tiny number of emotionally damaged grifters who possess otherwise useless skills applicable only to finance while everyone else gets poorer. That's not a problem. No, America is instead a place where the rest of us must hate each other at all times because of our skin colors, which, by the way, cannot be changed.

That way, once we're all yelling and aggrieved and angry about irresolvable race questions, once we've picked the wound until it won't stop bleeding, we won't have the time to ask even the most basic questions about economics -- questions like "Why are all these billionaire hedge fund guys paying half the tax rate I am? Who precisely is getting rich from the Federal Reserve? Where's all that money going?"

You don't see a ton of stories about those questions in The New York Times. They're too busy talking about race. It's a pretty sophisticated operation. Vladimir Putin could never pull it off. He'd buy a few dopey ads on Facebook and call it a day.

OK, if you're trying to show that a guy was improperly described as being unarmed, this is a dreadful example. A pocket knife? I'm not suggesting a pocket knife can't be deadly, but there is no indication he was even threatening anyone with it. So, mere possession justifies shooting him? Come on! And this was the lead example.

The story about falsely associating the murder of Vicha Ratanapakdee is a better example of the problem.

Go with the strong examples. The weak ones not only fail on their own merit, but they also cause people to mistrust the speaker and disregard even the strong examples.

The Left’s Push To Cancel Conservative Media Isn’t ‘Fighting Disinformation.’ It’s Censorship.

Horace CooperFeb 22, 2021
GettyImages-52004734.jpg?auto=format&fit=crop&ar=16%3A9&ixlib=react-9.0.3&w=970 Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images

The trend among progressives to limit speech moves to Capitol Hill this week when Democrat lawmakers convene a hearing on “disinformation and extremism in the media.”

According to the hearing announcement, “the spread of disinformation and extremism by traditional news media presents a tangible and destabilizing threat,” and lawmakers look forward to hearing “what more can be done to address this growing problem moving forward.”

One option being considered by many on the Left is censorship — the effort to punish or prevent discussion using force or pressure — whether the effort involves government actors or not. Progressives are leading the charge to limit expression when they don’t agree with it.

The Left used to pay lip service to the dangers of censorship whether it was justified or not. It wasn’t that long ago that the Left claimed any criticism of Colin Kaepernick’s loathsome attacks on the U.S. flag constituted censorship. Not only were we told that we must withhold our views of his attacks on Old Glory, but we were also told we should join in the attacks or freedom to protest would be imperiled. These claims, of course were baseless. Kaepernick was never forced to recant his hostility to the flag. Today the NFL is more “woke” than it was when Kaepernick started his protests despite the vigorous public debate.

Consider the Left’s complaints at the beginning of the George W. Bush administration that EPA’s failure to promote global warming priorities constituted “suppression” that would make Americans dangerously unaware of the serious risks we faced. Ignoring the legal right of an incoming administration to set policy, the Left’s supporters at The New York Times and the academy claimed that the Bush administration’s actions were akin to suppressing science.

Today the tables are turned and many on the Left espouse censorship as a useful tool to achieve their goals. Whether a part of “cancel culture,” “doxing” or boycotts, progressives now openly seek to censor voices and opinions they oppose. In the name of preventing “election misinformation” and “fake news,” the Left recently launched a campaign to pressure cable providers — like Comcast and Charter — to drop Newsmax, Fox News, and One America News. Using writing campaigns, boycott threats and targeting of individual cable companies, the progressives claim they aren’t censoring views they abhor, but instead merely ensuring the American people aren’t misled. It’s not censorship, but “harm reduction,” as one CNN commentator recently noted.

In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Juliet tells Romeo, that a “rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” What she means is that what you call something doesn’t affect what it is. Similarly, the campaign by the Left to force cable networks to drop certain news outlets is suppression regardless of their rationale.

This suppression runs afoul of laws passed by Congress and enforced by the FCC that were designed to ensure a variety of news sources are available on cable networks. Echoing the First Amendment, Congress determined that it’s the responsibility of consumers to decide whether programming is valuable and useful — not the job of the extreme Left.

Gaslight #1:

" We at "  Tucker Carlson Tonight  " have watched with growing amusement as our  media gatekeepers, ..." Lets look at who the gatekeeper is. Let's see, FOX is media, so that would mean that Tucker's gatekeeper would be his editor or whoever pays him to spew lies, distortions and disinformation, basically his bosses at FOX. But let us continue.

"...thrash about in a frenzy of foaming hysteria at the possibility that someone, somewhere might dare to present facts or form opinions  without their express written permission ."         If you look at who those gatekeepers are (his bosses) I can see why they would be so upset at paying him if he didn't come out with these hyperbolic gems like " frenzy of foaming hysteria ."  Ever since its creation, FOX has felt the need to remind everyone constantly that they are the source with fact and without bias because, well for one, Tucker doesn't make this easy for them at all: Link to NPR Report: You Literally Can't Believe The Facts Tucker Carlson Tells You. So Say Fox's Lawyers .

"...Freelance thinking is what they hate most, because it's a threat to their monopoly. They can't say that out loud, so instead they call it "disinformation."    Classic gaslight 101: Don't believe what they say because they are trying to make you think in a certain way. Now I am going to tell you how to think because I know better. Whenever somebody says this, look behind the curtain. In the first place, what, exactly, is "... their monopoly ," ?? I mean, it sounds Evil with all the undertones of big business squelching the voice of competitors, but if you really look at it, who is saying this and when are they saying it? Primetime on the cable channel with the highest ratings? Ohhhh, I get it. This must be another one of those times when he is just lying to fill air space and lead the gullible astray, playing to that poor soul who doesn't have either the wits or the wherewithal to check what Tucker is saying and find out that, yet again, Tucker is playing him for the fool.

Do I need to continue? That was just the first Paragraph of Carlson's daily lie fest.

Gaslight #2:

" However, before you judge these people, take a moment and feel some compassion... " Good ol' Tucker, always the compassionate verbal assassin," ...Imagine if you had spent 30 years making a good living as a car mechanic, and all of a sudden GM invents an engine that anyone can fix at home with a screwdriver. You'd be upset. That's how CNN feels about the internet. It's exposing their scam, so naturally, they're a little irrational about it."  This is just a nonsensical jab at CNN to back up his claim of all-knowingness and, "Don't listen to them. Listen to me," theme. Don't look to closely or one will notice the very large knife behind his words designed to separate a fool from his conscience, as the next paragraph shows...

"The thing about disinformation, they're telling us, is not that it's simply harmful to you personally. It's not like eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's or sneaking a smoke while the kids are at school. Dsinformation isn't a sin, it's a crime. Disinformation is an offense against this country, an attack on America and, more critically, on something called our "norms." "

Here is where he really digs into the torpid intellects sitting on their couches, at their screens, or maybe even out at their anti-covid bar-stool rallies. He just redefined a bunch of words. Sins just got reduced  standing vs crimes, and Disinformation, which really is a problem (partly because of Tucker Carlson), according to Carlson, gets reduced standing vs both of them by his poo-pooing of the norms of discourse. Translation of this is back to Gaslighting 101: I am the arbiter of truth and only I can be believed. It is what Trump did his whole presidency with one lie after another. In effect, Carlson is saying it is perfectly acceptable for him to lie to his audience and the country at large. What is more, he is telling his audience that they should believe him.

Tucker is saying that the "others," like the news outlets that actually make an attempt to present factual information as clearly and correctly as possible, are saying that it is a criminal offense to knowingly lie to someone. At some point there is a threshold that we cross where disinformation and outright lies do in fact hurt people. I can see why he would be a bit touchy about this subject, seeing as how that is his stock in trade. He must be getting sued again.

But let's have some compassion for Tucker. Lying, gaslighting and brainwashing is really difficult work. It is a good thing he enjoys his job.
