The left will roil the US if Donald Trump beats Joe Biden
Given what happens after 2016, expect more violence and screaming from the US left is Donald Trump beats Joe Biden in the 2024 election.

We are about to embark on what might be one of the wildest years in the history of American politics, and it may end up merely a prelude.

If 2024 is set to be tumultuous and unpredictable, just wait until 2025 if Donald Trump wins the presidency again this year.

His adversaries don't have a history of accepting his victories with equanimity.

Trump's unexpected victory in 2016 launched conspiracy theories about how Russia had helped him win; catalyzed a years-long law enforcement investigation into him and his campaign based on those theories; and set off protests in the streets.

All that was mild, given what may yet be in the offing.

Trump's opponents are sincerely, and to some extent understandably, alarmed by his conduct after the 2020 election and how he's branded his political comeback a revenge tour.

For most of them, though, saving democracy doesn't mean upholding the rules no matter what and letting the voters decide the election and the next president.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer threw his support behind Donald Trump (above) for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. REUTERS

No, it means blocking Trump by any means necessary, regardless of the consequences for the rule of law, democratic politics, or faith in our system of government.

In this view, democracy has only one legitimate outcome, and it doesn't involve Donald Trump back at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Some Democrats deserve minimal credit for distancing themselves from the Colorado and Maine decisions striking Trump from the ballot and arguing that the right way to defeat Trump is via the voting booth, although this isn't much of a concession.

What's already happened has put the country in an unprecedented place.

It's hard to imagine what's more extreme than one side in our politics indicting its leading opponent, creating the real prospect of jailing him in the months before an election and excluding him from the ballot in select states.

Yet if Trump wins, we have to assume this is only a taste of things to come.

It's not as though his enemies are going to conclude that Trump was an intolerable threat as a candidate, but once he's been elected president again, the voters have spoken and everyone should revert to politics as usual.

The Washington Post ran a long, much-discussed essay by the respected foreign policy writer Robert Kagan arguing that Trump has brought the United States to the brink of dictatorship.

If he returns to power, "the price of opposing him becomes persecution, the loss of property and possibly the loss of freedom."

This dire view depends on every institutional bulwark of America's system — from the courts to the military to public opinion — surrendering to a one-term president who, if history is any guide, will get rebuked in the midterms and become a lame duck by his third year in office.

But if tyranny is where you think we are headed, what's the appropriate response?

Running anti-Trump super PAC ads this year? Canvassing for President Biden? Going on CNN panels to sound very concerned?

In other words, all the standard means of political organization and persuasion?

And if Trump emerges victorious and the alleged dictatorship is underway in earnest?

Certainly, the reaction will make the pro-Hamas protests that have roiled college campuses and disrupted transportation nodes around the country look small-scale by comparison.

If the republic is supposedly on the verge of falling, extralegal means of resistance are justified.

At least some portion of the left will convince itself that only a color revolution can save the country.

During the 2016 Trump-Clinton contest, one school of Trump supporters posited that it was the "Flight 93 election" — possibly the last chance to save the country.

The consequences of failure were so awful that anything was justified to win.

Now that's the way the left feels, except Trump won his Flight 93 election, and Joe Biden could well lose his.

If so, there will be much to fear from democracy's self-styled defenders.

At this point, we don't know why Bidens got money.

Besides access to Joe, they had nothing to sell.

Why do you think foreigners rained money on a drug addict?

Well, they did use Joe as leverage, Joe knew it and did nothing to stop it.

That is grounds for bribery charges and impeachment

Rich Lowry, who has been a human yo-yo on the subject of Trump for the past 9 years , is an embarrassment to America.

Rich Lowry is well aware that Trump tried to steal the 2020 election. He is well aware that Trump is completely unfit for office, for dozens of reasons.

BUT, when he sees a chance to berate "the left" he will jump at it.

The next time Trump says something idiotic and un American Lowry will criticize him, and then soon after will go back to acting "indifferent" about Trump.

It will start on Jan 6th (get it) when Biden condemns MAGA from Valley Forge. That will be the day the left suddenly wraps itself in the American flag and associates itself with George Washington, whom they spent three years calling a "racist slave owner," and tells people that Donald Trump tried to steal the election. That is all they have to campaign on....Trump, Trump and more Trump.

Sure will.  Of course Biden won't mention the report on racism in the military his administration buried:

Recall 2021... when the Biden FBI deployed   counterterrorism resources   against concerned parents who showed up at school board meetings, and Gen. Mark Milley told     Congress that he wanted "to understand   White rage " one month after an enraged father was   dragged out   of a Loudon County, Virginia school board meeting after              his   daughter was raped by a transgender boy   in the girl's bathroom - which the school board then covered up.

Loudoun County dad Scott Smith dragged out of school woke board meeting & found guilty of disorderly conduct/resisting arrest reveals his daughter was 'raped' in the girls' bathroom by a 'skirt-wearing' boy who was arrested for a 2nd girl later. & School WOKE Board COVERED IT UP.   pic.twitter.com/odjuzYniQz
— 🇺🇸Robert.N🇺🇸 (@Rob_Noorollah)   October 13, 2021

Remember that?

And instead of addressing the concerns of millions of angry parents who had woken up to a nationwide phenomenon of mentally ill schoolteachers, critical race theory / DEI indoctrination, and transgender boys crushing the dreams of female athletes,   the Biden administration turned the whole thing into a 'white rage' problem caused by extremist Trump supporters.

In December of 2021,  the Pentagon furthered the 'white rage' narrative , warning that 'extremism' within the ranks was on the rise, which would require 'detailed new rules' to prohibit service members from engaging in 'certain activities....'

According to the   Wall Street Journal , "Good news: The U.S. military isn’t packed with violent extremists."

That’s the gist of a new report commissioned by the Pentagon in 2021 and released quietly with little notice in December. The result won’t surprise Americans who have spent time in uniform, but   it should calm the media frenzy about right-wing radicals in the armed forces. After reports that some service members participated in the Jan. 6 riot,   Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin ordered an independent study to get “greater fidelity” on extremism in the ranks . The think tank tasked with the report, the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), “ found no evidence that the number of violent extremists in the military is disproportionate” to U.S. society.   A review of Pentagon data suggested “ fewer than 100 substantiated cases per year of extremist activity by members of the military in recent years ,” the report says.

The researchers found that "the prevalence of extremist and gang-related activity that are reflected in court-martial opinions is limited to fewer than 20 cases" since 2012, for example.

But Biden needs to stoke the fear of a white racist hiding under every pillow to pander to his supporters fantasies. He sure can't run on his accomplishments.

On the other hand, what will Trump supporters do if Biden wins the election. We all know they will cry "fraud, stolen, rigged", in fact they are doing it already, but will they try another insurrection, or have they learned their lesson that Trump will never have their backs.
