Mike Johnson Declares the Senate Immigration Bill "Dead on Arrival"
The ReTrumplicans don’t care about what is good for the country, they are only interested in what is good for their party.

The Banned Played On

Jan, 27, 2024 al Jizzerror Fake News - Joe Biden has been working with the Senate to pass a bipartisan immigration reform bill to deal with the border crisis. The donald does not want Congress to deal with the border crisis because he wants to use it as an issue in the 2024 campaign. The ReTrumplicans don’t care about what is good for the country, they are only interested in what is good for their party. So Trump wants Mike Johnson to block immigration reform in the House.

main-qimg-0aff5689eef787e0d9aac23ced05739b

The donald said, "Mike Jackson is a great Speaker of the House.  He still pretends I won the election in 2020 and he is opposed to women's rights.  And Mike will make sure that the border will continue to be a disaster so I can blame it on Joe Biden."

Why hasn't Joe try to fix it until it became obvious he could no longer hide it and it became such an important issue for voters?  Why doesn't he do something about it today?  Why is he waiting for something to appear on his desk? Why doesn't he want a fence in Texas?  Why does Joe think people that may vote for him are that stupid?

You notice the only excuse Brandon apologists have is Trump?

The Senate bill does nothing to secure the border. More border agents to help transport the ever growing numbers of illegals to detention centers so they can be processed; with 1000 DOJ far left immigration judges appointed to grant as many illegals citizenship so long as they promise to vote Democrat.

There is nothing Trump can say or do at this time to stop Brandon from taking action himself and securing the border and enforcing our laws as written. Yet Brandon chooses to sue Texas for trying enforce their border; and prevent themselves from being overrun.

The writing of 'Brandon' is childish and discredits the author.

As I have said previously, I detest Trump as well but I detest Joe Biden even more. Whether some here like it or not, or want to admit it, the border problems are on Biden's watch and it is up the Democrats to come up with "reasonable" solutions that both sides can work with and the Senate is currently controlled by said Democrats.

Is that what you really mean?   Do you really detest Biden personally or do you disagree with his policies?

I detest Trump as well but I detest Joe Biden even more.

Well I just cannot wrap my head around that Ed.   It boggles my mind that anyone would compare the character of Biden and Trump and determine that Biden is the worse of those two in terms of character.

Whether some here like it or not, or want to admit it, the border problems are on Biden's watch and it is up the Democrats to come up with "reasonable" solutions that both sides can work with and the Senate is currently controlled by said Democrats.

Of course the border is Biden's responsibility.   But this is a policy issue.   Should I assume that you meant to say that you detest Biden's policies more than Trump's or do you really mean to speak about the character of these two men?

I doubt it.   Failure to act on illegal immigration does not compare in my mind to a traitor who is the only PotUS in our history who tried to steal a US presidential election through fraud, coercion, lying, and incitement.   A pathological liar who sought to circumvent the CotUS and violate his oath to preserve, protect, and defend same while violating the foundation of democracy — the vote of the electorate.   A malignant narcissist who has demonstrated that he will throw the CotUS and the nation under the bus just to spare his ego from embarrassment.

There is no comparison in character between the two.   It is difficult to think of a current public figure whose character is worse than Trump's.   He has, by an order of magnitude, the worst character of any PotUS.

What is wrong with Trump supporters?

My hypothesis:

  • Some of them believe that anyone who is a billionaire is incredibly smart and thus they defer to his intellect and believe whatever he says.  These are the kind of people we typically see on the man on the street interviews.   They live in a world of conspiracy theory and fear of 'big brother'.
  • Others are party loyalists / blind partisans.   It does not matter how bad their nominee is, the other side is worse by definition.
  • Others are just naive sheep.  They are not paying attention to what is going on and are simply trusting their chosen sources (e.g. Fox News).
  • Then we have the herd mentality.   Those who acquiesce to early momentum and just vote for whoever they think will be the winner.  These individuals tend to be low-information / name-recognition voters.
  • Finally we have those who care only about one or a few general factors.   These typically are voters who exclaim:  "I like his policies" as if nothing else matters when choosing the president of the USA.

This does not satisfy me.   I still cannot imagine how anyone could even consider voting for Trump after what he has done.   But this is the best I can offer.

Do you think Trump is the only person who, as PotUS, can effect those policies?

The answer should be a resounding 'no' given these are solidly in the GOP wheelhouse.

This is my major problem with the GOP and those who vote for Trump because they 'like his policies' in spite of all the negatives he brings.    Starting on Jan 21, 2021, the GOP had the option to detach from the Trump parasite and start moving forward without having Trump drag them down.   Instead, they continued with Trump and now are going to be stuck with this miserable human being as their nominee.

Even now, they have one last chance with Nikki Haley.   Certainly a decent candidate who would not likely disgrace the office and one who is not likely to be a convicted felon.   But still no change.   The GOP is determined to go with Trump no matter what.

Policies is no reason to nominate Trump given the mountains of negatives that come with him.   The fact that even now they are likely to disregard Haley shows the GOP is a dysfunctional mess and will remain so for years to come.

Haley is the candidate I support.   I would like to vote for her and am actively donating to her campaign.   The GOP, however, will surely make my individual efforts —and those like me— pointless.

I asked you a question, George.   That is not a strawman;  a strawman is arguing a claim you did not make.    It is not a strawman to ask a question to determine if you recognize that Trump is not the only GOP person who can effect GOP policies.

If you were to answer honestly that of course Trump is not the only one who can effect those policies, then I would ask you why people support Trump given all of his negatives.

But you likely knew where that was leading (since I generously made that quite clear in my post) and then likely decided to engage in dishonest diversion and refuse to answer the question.

No, it was ended by Biden,

Remain in Mexico (officially Migrant Protection Protocols ) is a United States immigration policy originally implemented in January 2019 under the administration of President Donald Trump , affecting immigration across the border with Mexico . Administered by the Department of Homeland Security , it requires migrants seeking asylum to remain in Mexico until their US immigration court date.

The policy was initially ended by the Biden administration , and after some legal battles, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled on June 30, 2022, in Biden v. Texas , that the administration had the authority to end the policy.

Well at least we got this far.

And, of course, your comment is of the philosophical form:  " If bad, Trump had nothing to do with it;  if good, this is a result of Trump's policies ".

Thing is, the economy is not currently bad.  It continues to move in the right direction, the metrics are decent.   And the surging stock market is a pretty good sign of enthusiasm.   Trump certainly had nothing to do with that (neither did Biden, by the way).

Further, you continue to miss Thrawn's point.   Trump has stated that he would prefer the economy crash before he takes office.

Former President   Donald Trump   predicted the US economy would “crash,” saying he hoped it would do so within the next year – before he would assume the Oval Office should he win a second term in November.

“When there’s a crash, I hope it’s going to be during this next 12 months because I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover. The one president – I just don’t want to be Herbert Hoover,” Trump said in an interview that aired Monday on the right-wing platform Lindell TV.

Do you condone such talk from the likely GOP nominee?

Biden's failed economy.

Oh-oh...  Your ignorance (or dishonesty) about the economy is showing.

U.S. economy surprises with strong 3.3 % growth in last quarter

Economy Jan 25, 2024 9:17 AM EST

WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation’s economy grew at an unexpectedly brisk 3.3 % annual pace from October through December as Americans showed a continued willingness to spend freely despite high interest rates and price levels that have frustrated many households.

Thursday’s report from the Commerce Department said the gross domestic product — the economy’s total output of goods and services — decelerated from its sizzling 4.9% growth rate the previous quarter. But the latest figures still reflected the surprising durability of the world’s largest economy, marking the sixth straight quarter in which GDP has grown at an annual pace of 2% or more. Consumers fueled much of last quarter’s expansion.

For all of 2023, the economy grew 2.5%, up from 1.9% in 2022.

The state of the economy is sure to weigh on people’s minds ahead of the November elections. After an extended period of gloom, Americans are starting to feel somewhat better about inflation and the economy — a trend that could sustain consumer spending, fuel economic growth and potentially affect voters’ decisions. A measure of consumer sentiment by the University of Michigan, for example, has jumped in the past two months by the most since 1991.

There is growing optimism that the Federal Reserve is on track to deliver a rare “soft landing” — raising borrowing rates enough to cool growth, hiring and inflation yet not so much as to send the economy into a tailspin. Inflation touched a four-decade high in 2022 but has since edged steadily lower without the painful layoffs that most economists had thought would be necessary to slow the acceleration of prices.

The economy’s outlook had looked far bleaker a year ago. As recently as April 2023, an economic model published by the Conference Board, a business group, had pegged the likelihood of a U.S. recession over the next 12 months at close to 99%.

Nonpartisan questions.

What is in the bill that will actually implement an answer (short term or long term) to illegal immigration?

Does the bill include another large amnesty to the millions (tens of millions) of border crossers who do not qualify for asylum or legal immigration who should have been processed and deported within weeks of crossing the border?
