I just read an article about him where he said he has never watched any of Star Trek tv shows and only one of the movies. Said he only watched the one movie because he was directing.

If so I would be defined by the likes of, The Outsiders and Red Dawn.

WatchMojo is pretty good at making 10-minute videos, but their lists leave a lot to be desired. This one isn’t too bad, by their usual standard.

Citizen Kane is a great movie, but I don’t think there is anything particularly iconic about Charles Foster Kane.

The Tramp was a fun character, but he has not had any kind of staying power with the public.

Ender mentioned Frankenstein, which got me thinking about other monsters/villains. Several of them are iconic. Dracula, Invisible Man, Wolf Man, Godzilla, King Kong, Alien, Predator, Jason, Freddie, that girl from The Ring, Chucky. And I don’t even watch horror movies most of the time. That clown from It? Is that a thing?

Super heroes. Superman, Batman, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider Man, etc.

I notice that only 1 of the 10 is a woman. That’s kind of sad. I hope that can change going forward. Other arguably iconic female characters, not already in the list, I thought of were Cleopatra (as played by Elizabeth Taylor), Nurse Ratched, Barbarella, Black Widow, Eve Harrington (All About Eve), Blanche Dubois, Anne Wilkes (Misery), Alex Forrest (Fatal Attraction), Frau Blucher, Mammy, Scarlett O’Hara, Marge Gunderson (Fargo), Mary Poppins.

I don’t know. Maybe if I have to say the movie, the character isn’t that iconic?

Kathleen mentioned Ripley. I think that’s a good one. I might have thought she might be starting to be forgotten, but a video game I play a lot is World of Warships Legends, and right this minute, they are having a special event with fun commanders for April Fools Day. One of those made up commanders is Shelly Beapley - a clear homage to Ellen Ripley.

I'm such a horror movie genre fan. I love Robert Englund. He's the only true "Freddie Kruger" in my opinion... no one could ever replace that character.

Woooo.  There's no way I can start making a list.  Rather than naming the characters, I'm going to refer to the actors who PLAYED the characters.  In my opinon, the most iconic character in the movies was James Bond as played by Sean Connery.   Harrison Ford as Han Solo and as Indiana Jones is next, and the characters that Gary Cooper has played such as Sgt.York, in High Noon and in From Whom the Bell Tolls, Paul Muni because he virtually BECAME the characters he was playing, such as Emile Zola, Scarface and Wang (in The Good Earth), and Orson Welles for his brilliance in every role.  If I'm going to name actresses it would be Elizabeth Tayor for a lifetime of great fulfilling the characters she played from Lassie and Great Expectations to Angela Vickers to Cleopatra, Audrey Hepburn because I loved her in everything she did, and Meryl Streep because she can adapt to any kind of character that is needed from Sophie's Choice to Julia Child, and Marilyn Munroe for so perfectly fufilling the roles that everyone expected of her - she was always the "dumb blond" who wasn't dumb at all.  There are so many more there isn't time for me to even think about how many.

Newer movies (1980 or newer):

James McAvoy as Kevin Wendell Crump / Dennis / Patricia / Hedwig / Barry / Orwell / Jade / "The Beast" in Split.

Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith as Jay and Silent Bob in several films written by Kevin Smith

Kane Hodder as Jason Vorhees in the most Friday the 13th movies

Tony Todd as Candyman in Candyman (1992)

Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet in Spaceballs

Chevy Chase as Clark W. Griswold in all of the National Lampoons Vacation movies

John Belushi as 'Joliet' Jake Blues and Dan Aykroyd as his brother Elwood in The Blues Brothers

Bruce Campbell as Ash in Evil Dead

Older movies (1979 or older):

Jack Nicholson as Johnny in The Shining

Mia Farrow as Rosemary in Rosemary's Baby

Cleavon Little as Bart and Gene Wilder as Jim in Blazing Saddles

Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode in Halloween (1978)

Bill Murray as Tripper in Meatballs

John Belushi as "Bluto" in Animal House

Okay, that's enough from me.
