MOVIE QUIZ - CHRISTMAS EPISODE
MOVIE QUIZ - CHRISTMAS EPISODE
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW IN ORDER TO GET A BETTER SCORE. I HAVE DECIDED TO BE MUCH MORE LENIENT IN MY SCORING AND HAVE DONE AWAY WITH MANY OF THE RULES. .
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is that the movie MUST be relevant to Christmas, and it could be any genre. None of the movies are TOO old (well, maybe one is) and all of them appear on Best Christmas Movies lists. I have only seen 8 of these movies myself, so for most of them just identifying the clue images should give you a good idea what the movie is, but as always, some clues are of an item or scenario that is a primary object in or otherwise indicative of or important to the plot and you will probably have to have seen the movie to identify it. A few of the questions were included in previous quizzes, but even if so I tried not to use the same image clues, and as usual I don't think any of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating, but once you think you know the answer I recommend that you check to make sure it is correct.
THE RULES
I am being much more lenient and you will not lose score for not capitalizing or using proper punctuation or adding an extraneous or leaving off a "the" or "A" or punctuation, but I will have to make a decision between your just naming what the clues are and the actual movie name. Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie, which is why I recommend that you check to make sure the name is correct, because the images may only be a CLUE to the ACTUAL name of the movie. Remakes of original movies with the same name will be acceptable. If you name movies that I feel the clues identify as well or better than the ones I used, I will accept them as well. TV programs and TV series such as West Wing are not answers, but I will accept TV movies like QB VII (which is an adaptation of a novel) or some miniseries if they are an adaptation of a novel that is too long for one showing and are spread out, like the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
There are some hard ones to guess, and also some very easy ones, so give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

It's time for that good old fashioned Christmas spirits, oops I mean spirit. Setting up this quiz was quite a challenge for me. First of all, I'm not that familiar with most Christmas movies, so it took me a while to choose ones that either I knew enough about to post clues or else finding ones where I could create clues that were hints about the title, and had to seek images that would fit. To post the quiz I got started and made it through 3 questions and something happened to my computer that made me reboot it (which takes about 15 minutes to get back to being useable - it is about 12 years old and I know how it feels about getting started because I'm pretty old myself.
Anyway, I finished it after about a couple of hours, and posted the first comment, and got a yellow signal that I had the wrong i/d or something, so I tried writing the comment again and it stopped me again so I tried to delete the comment and something happened and I accidentally deleted the whole article I asked Perrie if it could be recovered and it couldn't so I had to start all over again from the top. This time it only took about 90 minutes cause I had the images saved. I think I could use some of those Christmas spirits. Anyway, let's see how you can do on this quiz. Please read the full introduction so you won't make mistakes, and, as always, remember....

If anyone missed seeing the results of the previous quiz, British movies, here is a link that will take you there. (link) -> ->

You were right the first time. This is the time of year when I like to pour a glass of bourbon and wave a Union Jack over it (because egg nog was invented in England back in the middle ages).
Christmas movies.. WOO HOO!!!!!!
should be fun
I've visited the castle in clue #1. There were 3 Lamborghinis parked in front of it at the time. We encountered them a while later on a road no Lamborghini should ever see. Yeah, our GPS sucked. Maybe theirs did, too. Or maybe they had enough money that they didn't care.
LOL. Lamborghinis don't have much clearance under them, do they?
Inveraray Castle -- Duke of Argyll, Clan Campbell. It was used for Duneagle in Downton Abbey. But you probably knew all that.
It's cool that you visited it.
I did know that. It's why we visited it - my paternal great-grandmother was a Campbell.
And yeah, the cars looked like they could bottom out pretty easily. I was really glad our cars were rentals.
That castle was just a random choice from the internet, the specific one that it is has nothing to do with the question. I should have taken one from clipart.
I just mentioned it out of nostalgia. It was a great trip, lousy GPS notwithstanding.
The only time I was in Great Britain we drove around England and across North Wales, during which we enjoyed a medieval Christmas Eve dinner served by wenches and drank mead while listening to musicians playing music from that era at Ruthin Castle in North Wales - a truly memorable experience.
I'd love to see England and Wales someday. We've driven around Ireland and Scotland - of course, there was a lot we didn't have time to see.
Hey, Buzz. Did you make the graphic at the top of the page? Pretty good editing job if you did.
Nope. Just off an internet images search for "Name that Christmas movie" - the way I get all the images I use for the quizzes..
WOW!!! Five members submitted answers the first half-day of the quiz. That's a new record. Hope this one will set a record for submissions. I'd like to see some of the members who are stuck on politics try once, but I guess most of them just don't want to have any fun.
I'm probably wrong on one or two...
Your comment is probably correct.
I'm very happy with the response this quiz has been getting. So far 7 members have played, and each of the movies has been identified by at least somebody with only one question earning a minimum of being correctly answered by 3 members so far, while some of the questions were answered correctly by all 7 participants. I think that's the best any of my quizzes have been answered, and amazingly, on the first day that it's been posted.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
In order to be fair to all participants, because of a couple of errors that I have made concerning question number 1 I have replaced it with a different movie and new clues are posted for it. Those who have already submitted their answers and correctly answered it will keep the point they already got, but those who did not now have an opportunity to retry question 1 with the new clues and if correct they will be able to improve their score.
Twelve members have submitted their answers so far. I will be closing this quiz the evening of Christmas Day (America time) so anyone intending to participate should not wait too long.
Sent my guesses in and off to neighbor's Christmas Eve party where there will be much eating and drinking
Make sure you don't drink so much of that rum and eggnog that you can't find your way home from your neighbour's.
Hear ye, hear ye!!! The Christmas Movie Quiz is now closed. 13 members participated, while one I questioned did not feel like doing it. The winners of this quiz, tying for first place, are Dig and Snuffy, each with perfect 20 scores. In second place, Split Personality got an excellent score of 19 1/2, while taking third place Veronica, Vic Eldred and Kathleen all tied with 19 each. Honourable Mention goes to Nowhere Man with a score of 18 1/2. Lots of high scores for this one. For the folk who don't like fun or playing games, here are the answers:
A new quiz is now posted - Action Movie Quiz. Here is the link in case it gets wiped off the Front (Home) page by numerous political and religious rants. -> ->
