CLASSIC B&W MOVIE QUIZ
CLASSIC B&W MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be one of the 82 movies on the GREATEST BLACK AND WHITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME linked below. Open and use that IMDb list to help you with finding the correct match to the clues and making sure of title accuracy. The release year of the movie is not necessary.
(IMDb list LINK) -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls009847182/
I have seen 12 of the movies on the quiz myself so although a few of the titles should be easily identifiable by just naming what the clue images are, most will still require you to either have watched the movies or been familiar with them or you may have to research the storyline because the clues will represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to have seen the movie or know the story. Some of the movies have been included in previous quizzes, but these are almost all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important. A bit of advice: sometimes the clues might suggest more than one movie, so make sure you take BOTH clues into consideration.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked IMDb movie list to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean to me that you know the name of the movie. In a previous quiz a title for one of the movies came up a little different when the list was opened in America than it was for me here so if that happens again you do not lose any score. As well, if you can convince me that my clues equally or better indicate a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the 82 movies on the IMDb list linked above , I will accept that alternative as a good answer, and I have accepted alternatives previously. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.

Here we go again - a new movie quiz. Because I know that not everyone is totally enamoured with classic movies, this quiz could be more of a challenge than those I've posted recently. You might have to research the movies a little more often than before, but that could mean that it may be a little more fun. So take a little time away from the usual and spend a little time solving this quiz. However, as always, remember..…
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
This quiz will be open for 5 days and closed with the winners announced this Sunday evening at about 10 p.m. New York City time.
Wonderful movie topic choice, Buzz! Thank you!
Classic movies have always been very important to me. When I first joined Newsvine many years ago I started a group called "Classic Cinema". I did that as well when Perrie created this site, but realizing that classic movies were not everyone's cup of tea I changed it to refer to movies generally, then eventually movies and TV but I'm considering dropping TV since nothing has been happening there for a long time.
Thanks to my parents and siblings, I learned to appreciate many genres of classic movies, especially those from the 1930s-1960s at a young age.
Re: Classic TV - I don't like much of today's TV programming and prefer watching reruns of 1950s-1980s sit-coms and dramas.
Color me a dinosaur , I suppose!
Dinosaurs are okay, just don't be T-Rex.
Ha ha! Having children who grew up with (DELETED) dinosaur figures, and puzzles, I learned a lot about dinosaurs!
Is it necessary for me to explain that deletion?
I don't remember what it was, but I'm sure that your deletion was necessary! Sorry!
You ignored the multicoloured warning I begin the quiz with and repeat in the first comment.
Good topic, thanks Buzz.
My favourite movie topic.
See what I can figure out
Looking forward to it.

Received and scored - first one submitted, thank you.

Glad to know that we don't get tickets for those anymore!
No tickets for periods.
a very tiny bump
A simple one for sure, but it still does the job.
Bumpity Bump Bump!!!!!
(next up, the grind)
Grind is okay too.
Bump (and grinding grinding grinding) back to the front page.
Ok people, it's time to wash your eyeballs out now. The image of me bump and grinding should not linger.. but it's a Friday morning and I feel like tormenting folks.. hehe
Your tormenting is helping to keep the quiz up front.

Received and scored, thank you.
Submitted. Thanks again, Buzz!
Received and scored, thanks and you're welcome.

Received and scored, thanks.
Sure didn't take long to wipe this quiz off the Front (Home) Page.
If I'm not able to bump it up front again, I could use a little help from my friends.
Using a lot of my Friday energy to BUMMMMMMPPPPPPP this up!
Happy that you donated so much energy in order to bump the article.
Still working on it
Still lots of time.
Bump again - still time for people to complete the quiz and turn in answers
Nope, not for me again, time ran out.
I usually do these while at work when I have to babysit a machine. I figured I could wait until Saturday when I don't expect any customers to show up and there is a long job for this particular machine and I could sit down and figure them out. Customers kept showing up and taking me away from the machine to the point that there was no more time today to do the long job, it will have to wait until Monday and I'm outa here until Monday and usually never near a computer again until then.
So, sorry Buzz when you see this, it takes at least 1 to 2 hours to figure these out and I don't have that time during the weekend.
I am curious about the time needed to do the quiz, and I assume that it will vary. It takes me a lot longer to prepare the quiz than it does to participate. From what you wrote, I guess if I allowed a whole week perhaps it would draw more participants.
Buzz,
I think you should give people a week. I know I have run into problems on occasions.
Okay, will do for next quiz.
Perhaps there isn't time for some members. I've been getting more than one excuse about not having time so I wonder if I should stretch the time for doing the quiz from 5 days to a full week.
A week would be better and hopefully get more participation
CORRECTION: Two more sent in answers, so at this point it is SIX participants - still not enough.
I think I'll do that next quiz and see if it increases the participation.
OK done and ahead of schedule.
Received and scored, thank you.
Sent 'em in
Received and scored, thank you.
This quiz will be closed in 12 hours from now.
Get your answers and guesses in soon
There are 5 hours left. I hope more participate this time!
Note what I just replied to charger 383. Two regular participants sent their regrets due to lack of time or circumstance so there was a possibility for nine, and I hope to cure that problem by extending the time for each quiz to a week from now on. Anyway, in a little more than an hour I will close this quiz and announce the Winners' Circle members - and ALL who participated have qualified.
A seventh participant has submitted answers, and I don't expect more now that there is only a little more than an hour left before closing time.
Time is up. Seven participated, and all have perfect or almost perfect scores, with every player winning their places in the Winner's Circle. Five share first place with perfect scores of 20 - in order of submitting answers: Split Personality, Jasper2529, Dig, charger 383 and Veronica. Almost perfect with scores of 19 are Snuffy and Perrie. Way to go - and I thought this quiz was more of a challenge. Everybody is just getting too smart about how I create my quizzes.
Thinking about what to do next, I think I'll go back to specific actors for a change. In order to give everyone a little more time, the quizzes will be open for a week instead of 5 days so it doesn't really matter what day they start and will always go right through a weekend.
Thanks to all who played, and congratulations to all for doing so well. Here are the answers for the pussies who are afraid to have fun:
Congrats to all the 20's... and us 19's weren't all too bad either so congrats Perrie.
Thanks Buzz, another fun quiz.
Congratulations to everyone, and thanks again, Buzz. Looking forward to the next quiz!
