Movie Quiz - Documentaries
Movie Quiz - Documentaries
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the documentary MUST be one on the 98 Best Documentaries Of All Time Ranked list posted by Looper and linked below. Open and use that Looper list to help you with finding the correct match to the clues and making sure of title accuracy.
(Looper list LINK) -> https://www.looper.com/480937/best-documentaries-all-time/
I have only seen 3 or 4 of the documentaries on the quiz myself so although quite a few of the titles should be easily identifiable by just naming what the clue images are, some will still require you to either have watched the documentaries or been familiar with them or you may have to research the descriptions below the screen shots on the list because the clues will represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to have seen the documentary or know the story. Maybe only one or two have been included in previous quizzes, and as usual I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from them. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge and ability to research the descriptions if necessary, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
Note that I never use the same film more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important. A bit of advice: sometimes the clues might suggest more than one documentary, so make sure you take BOTH clues into consideration.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the documentary name on the linked Looper movie list to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean to me that you know the name of the documentary. In a previous quiz a title for one of the movies came up a little different when the list was opened in America than it was for me here so if that happens again you do not lose any score. As well, if you can convince me that my clues equally or better indicate a documentary other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the 98 documentaries on the Looper list linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer if you can give good reasons, and I have accepted alternatives previously. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one.
Make sure you number your answers the same as the questions.

Red Box Rules were never required on my quizzes over the years so I don't think they're required now.
Long time no see. I believe that this time the documentaries on the list may not be so familiar, and it will take a little more effort to check the descriptions of the films under the screen shots on the linked list if the answer is not obvious from just naming what the clues are images of, and many of them will be so. Perhaps this will be a little more of a challenge than previously, but "Ah, a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?" (Robert Browning). You will have a week to submit your answers, as the quiz will be closed on Tuesday July 11th at about 10 p.m. New York City Time. Good luck, but as always, please remember.....
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
When the quiz is closed and the winners announced, discussion about the quiz, or the movies or anything else that is relevant will be welcome. Please be patient.
Evening...sorry totally off topic but just reading about the floods in your city...I assume you are ok?
I appreciate your concern but I know nothing about that. Where we live it has never been a problem. There has been a lot of rain lately and we haven't been getting the really hot temperatures that have been happening north of us. But my wife's veggie garden has been thriving in the alternating sun and rain.
Not sure if this will work..15 are dead and streets are rivers etc .
I couldn't open that, but I did see this: LINK ->
That didn't happen anywhere near us, and thanks for the heads-up, I had no idea this was happening. Although I watch the news of CGTN every day they never broadcast it, but they might tomorrow morning.
Have to study te clues and list
Never used Looper before but I like their lists.
Gonna try!
Looking forward to it.
Thanks for another movie challenge, Buzz!
Well well well.... you got this posted before I left.
Submitted.
Received and scored, thanks.

Gotta say, I was surprised that (DELETED) wasn't on the Looper list. That was a groundbreaker and a game changer in the way docs were made at the time. I rewatched it recently and it has aged spectacularly.

Thanks for your submission. Did you not see this?

Ah, sorry. I forgot about that, but I seriously doubt that what I mentioned would have ruined the quiz for anyone.
As far as I can tell, that particular subject matter isn't even found on Looper's list. Thus, it couldn't be a spoiler or a hint for any of your clues, because the answers have to come from the list.
So, again, sorry. But no harm done.
Others who have done the same have made the same argument, but all ignore the fact that it causes me to have to waste my time and research to see if there is any possibility that it could lead to being a hint, and rather than having to make a determination as to whether it does or not, it simplifies it for me if it is simply forbidden. Some others who selfishly ignored the problems it can cause me quit doing the quizzes.
But I don't rule out any kind of discussion about such things, because I also said this in my first comment.
So as it is said, "There is a time for everything under heaven."
Yeah, I did that once where I gave a BS answer to question #21. As these quiz's go up to 20 I thought I was ok also. Turns out I was not as I did give a clue that could be used. So it's best to not mention any movies, such as #@@@#$$#^@%^@#%$@#%$$#^# until the quiz is closed.
Else Buzz might turn into a hacker and sic the IRS on ya... LOL
No, I wouldn't do that. The worst penalty I've imposed is to delete the offender's membership and block the offender from being able to post any comment or anything at all on anything on the movie group.
Pretty sure to be able to get a few of these, but what you didn't mention was the time limit. Strike that, its in the first comment, sorry.
It gives you the Monday.
I'm a bit confused. In comment 1 , you said ...
I assumed you meant Tuesday, July 11th. But in comment 8.1 you said Monday. Since this is July, it seems that there's been a month and date confusion?
I'm happy to send in my answers by whatever day you set, but I don't know which it is - Monday (7/10) or Tuesday (7/11).
I didn't catch that, but it is Tuesday July 11th to give some of us who don't come near a computer through much of the weekend a chance to enter on Monday or Tuesday morning.
Right now I have just one that is giving me some trouble, so I'll easily make it before the deadline. If I got them all right is another question.
Damn! I hope Alzheimer's isn't setting in. I DID say "May" didn't I. Of course it should have been "July" and I have corrected it. As for my mentioning "Monday" in my comment to bccrane, it is because he had told me previously that Monday was the only day he ever had time to do the quiz, but this time he did it before Monday.
Answers are required by Tuesday July 11th at 10 p.m. New York City time.
Have figured most of them out
Good!!!
Early morning bump to keep this on the front page. Come on guys, get your fingers in gear and take the quiz. This is easy, look at the clues to figure out which movie it is from the list.
Quiz closes Monday so you have the weekend.
Hope everybody has a good weekend and tries the quiz, it's fun. See ya all next month... (woo hoo, road trip!!!!)
Actually post 1 states the quiz closes on Tuesday at 10pm so you have lots of time.
And with that.. "on the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again"
Have a great and safe trip.
As always, thanks for the bump. These bumps don't give me whiplash.
Just submitted, I guess I didn't need the Monday after all.
Received and scored. Thank you. My comment to you about "Monday" above caused a bit of confusion.
Three members have now participated, and all in all it is now established that every question is answerable, so there are no impossible questions. Hope to receive at least more participation than I did for the previous quiz.

Received and scored, thank you.

A Monday bump.
Get the answers in soon
Only one more day.
NOTICE: This quiz will be closed and the winners announced in about 24 hours from now, i.e. at about 10 p.m. New York City Time on Tuesday July 11th.
That will be in about 12 hours people, so get to it.
Oh and of course, bump.
Your warning is appreciated.
Answers submitted ... and bump!
Just a little of 3 hours to go and bump again.
It's just for fun, it doesn't matter if you get a few wrong, trust me I know.
Well said. At this point six members have participated and there are now a few minutes less than three hours to closing.
This quiz is now closed. For some reason I thought this one would be too hard because I assumed most people would not have seen the documentaries, or at least most of them. However I was so wrong. Only seven ventured to play, and five of them got perfect 20 scores and the other two missed only one question and got scores of 19. I guess I worried too much and made the clues too easy. Perfect scores of 20 were obtained by Snuffy, bccrane, Dig, Perrie and Jasper2429 - all winners of first prize, while second prize was shared by both Split Personality and charger 383, both with scores of 19. The results are proof that you don't really have to see the movies to be able to participate. I've not decided what to do next so it will probably be a little while before you see a new quiz.
In the meantime, for those too many NT members who are so enamoured by politics and wars and refuse to take a break to have some fun, here are the answers:
