HENRY FONDA & NATALIE PORTMAN MOVIE QUIZ

                 800     800

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.    POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.  IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.

Back to actors so in this quiz, as usual, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED   that the movie MUST   be a movie in which Henry Fonda or Natalie Portman acted but ONLY in the movies listed on the IMDb movie lists that are linked following this paragraph.  I have seen only about 4 of the movies on this quiz that I can remember, so, as always, some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, but some may require you to either have watched the movies or be familiar with them or will require you to do a little research into them because the clues might represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to have seen the movie or know the story or what the film is about. However, all you need are the linked IMDb lists to find the answers.   I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies.  I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.

The Best 38 films of Henry Fonda (IMDb)  LINK ->     https://www.imdb.com/list/ls003048730/

Natalie Portman Movies (IMDb) LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls003361336/

Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important

THE RULES

I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The" or obvious typos, but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name.   For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title.  Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie.  That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct.   As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb lists linked above , I will accept that alternative as a good answer.  In previous quizzes I did accept alternatives for the questions. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.

More than once a situation came up on previous quizzes where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant opened although it was the same link, so if that happens, please tell me when I score your answers.  Be careful to use ONLY  the lists linked above, because there may be other similar lists that will not have the same movies on them.

SPECIAL HINT FOR THOSE WHO BOTHER TO READ WHAT'S ABOVE

Although some of the movies can be identified by just one of the clues, some of the clues can apply to the wrong movie, so it is IMPORTANT  to take BOTH clues into consideration.

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

It's getting harder to find a new genre to use for the quiz so I'm back to using actors and actresses.  I know that Henry Fonda and Natalie Portman are an odd couple to pair up but what is important for me is that between the two of them their movie lists total no less than 80 movies, and in this case the Fonda list is 38 movies and the Portman list is 45 movies, and also that there is enough information on the lists that I can find and choose relevant clues.  So another week, another quiz for you to play, but always remember...

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.   POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

This quiz will be closed on Friday November 24th at 10 p.m. New York City time.  I'm looking forward to your submissions.

That's something we need to do more of around here, the wild turkeys can do damage to crops and when they yard up in the winter that's when you realize how many there actually is around here, there can be easily 200 per flock in the fields.

It’s been a few years now since we had wild turkey instead of domestic.  I can tell you that the wild bird is much tastier than even a fresh, range bird.  I used to dry brine mine and then cook it slow on a Weber grill.  A great tasting bird.

Stop and Shop Grocery Stores in NY have had turkeys on sale for 49 cents per pound. I got three twenty pounders. One is now dry brining for tomorrow and the other two are still froze solid.

I am also having stuffing, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, giblet gravy, candied carrots, collard greens, cranberry sauce and dilly bread. My desert choice is cheesecake or banana pudding. No pumpkin pie though. I reckon that should be enough for me.

What is everyone else having?

Just a simple family dinner planned, the dinner is hosted by a daughter and all adults are bringing something.  I prepped the sausage & sage stuffing, just need to bake it today, also being provided is turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, corn casserole and yeast rolls.

Funny story about frozen turkeys.  Years back I had a 12 cubic foot chest freezer that was very old so I bought a new upright freezer to take it's place.  Prior to the new freezer being delivered, I went thru the old freezer to see what all we had in there and only found one turkey.  At the time we always bought 20lb + birds as we were feeding a family of teenagers who as you know can eat like there's no tomorrow.  But after setting up the new freezer and giving it 24 hours to cool down, when I moved the food from the old to new freezer there were 6 turkeys.  My wife swears she didn't buy any turkeys and I know I didn't but cannot for the life of me figure out where the additional 5 came from.

I hope you and yours (and everybody else here) have a very happy Thanksgiving.

Oh yeah, and a Thursday morning bump.  I see we're in first place on the Front Page, here's an attempt to stay there.

Buzz, to be honest, I love movies but am no good at remembering all the details of them like some people can do. I envy that, but on the plus side, when I do see a movie for the second time, if it has been a while, I still enjoy it.

I may tackle one soon if I am familiar with the topic!

My quizzes used to be much more of a challenge because many of the questions would have required to have seen the movie.  As it happens, I'm pretty good with noticing and remembering details in movies and in many cases I watch them more than once or twice.  However, the quizzes are now different, and as I've explained, are now more like a game or a treasure hunt and you don't need to see the movies at all to get a perfect score just using the IMDb list of movies posted on the quiz.  The questions can all be answered either by identifying the clues I post which virtually shout out the movie title or the clues can be found in the mini-synopsis of the movies that are on the linked IMDb list.  Try it, you'll see.  Practice with this quiz above along with the answers posted in my comment below this one.

I do hope you'll try! Believe me, there have been many quizzes when I haven't seen even one of the movies (or even the overall theme). Buzz recently had a quiz about anime movies, and I've never seen one. His clues were good enough to give me ideas to compare with the movie list he gives us.

One thing that should be appreciated about these quizzes is that it is one of the few topics posted on this site where it doesn't matter what your political bent is, we're all one family having fun together.

This quiz is now closed.  The winners, all with perfect scores of 20 , in order of submitting answers, are Split Personality, Snuffy, Veronica, Jasper2529, Dig, charger 383, Kathleen , and bccrane .  Missing just one answer for a score of  19 is Vic Eldred .  My congratulations and thanks to all - I'm sure you enjoyed it.

Looking at the scores I'm beginning to feel that although all but one prefer for me to continue this method which doesn't require you to even see the movie and the answers can all be found on the linked movie list and from identifyng the clues is really not much of a challenge but is more like a game or a treasure hunt.  However, what is good about it and worth continuing is that it is a distraction, and all who play say it's fun to do.  Sad, is it not, that so few will give a try to something that will distract them for a while from the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" now occurring and is fun to do.  So for those timid souls, here are the answers that they can compare with the clues and practise to finally brave the challenge.

  1.  The Lady Eve - Eve in the Garden of Eden & 3 shark cards
  2.  Black Swan - a black swan & a ballerina (an easy one)
  3.  Mars Attacks! - The god Mars & aliens attacking Earth
  4.  Warlock - Marshall's badge & Deputy Sheriff's badge
  5.  The Ox-Bow Incident - an ox-bow & 3 nooses for lynching
  6.  Goya's Ghosts - the artist Goya & Ghosts
  7.  The Cheyenne Social Club - an old cowboy & a whore house
  8.  Fort Apache - a fort & Apache Indians
  9.  Beautiful Girls - a piano player & a crossroads
  10. Where the Heart Is - a pregnant teenager & Walmart
  11. Domino One - a domino & a chemistry student  (pretty obvious)
  12. The Tin Star - a tin can & a star
  13. Anywhere But Here - a mother and daughter & Beverly Hills
  14. The Male Animal - a male symbol & a college teacher
  15. Cold Mountain - a thermometer showing cold & a mountain
  16.  Illusions & Mirrors - a shadow & dunes at a vacant beach
  17. The Other Boleyn Girl - 2 sisters & Henry VIII
  18. The Grapes of Wrath - the dustbowl & California
  19. Drums Along the Mohawk - drums & a Mohawk haircut
  20. Once Upon a Time In the West - a harmonica & a widow

The next quiz now posted, is an interesting mix, and it's called The Whole Shebang .  Hope you find time over this holiday weekend to check it out.

It won't be on the Front (Home) Page for long, so here is a link to it:

Congrats everybody on a well-deserved score.  And Thanks Buzz for a fun quiz.  Too bad so many people would rather snark about politics than have some fun.
