JODIE FOSTER AND/OR PAUL GIAMATTI MOVIE QUIZ
JODIE FOSTER AND/OR PAUL GIAMATTI MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
Continuing with the movies of an actor and an actress, and as before you didn't have to see the movies because all the answers are either obvious from the clues or they can be found on the linked IMDb movie list below this paragraph. As usual, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be a movie listed on one of the two linked IMDb movie lists following this paragraph. The list for Jodie Foster has 40 of her movies listed and the list for Paul Giamatti has 50 movies of his. I think I have seen only one of the movies on this quiz, so, as always, some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, and some may require you to do some studying of the linked IMDb movie list to find the answers or it's a mix of both. I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
Jodie Foster - Movies (IMDb) LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls058148099/
Paul Giamatti Movies I've Seen (IMDb) -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls063090555/
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name . For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct. Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct . As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the two IMDb lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In previous quizzes I did accept alternatives for the questions. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.
A few times now a situation came up on previous quizzes where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers. It happened again on the previous quiz with Ocean's Eight - when I open the linked list it is Ocean's 8 . Be careful to use ONLY the lists linked above, because there may be other similar lists that will not have the same movies on them.
SPECIAL HINT FOR THOSE WHO BOTHER TO READ WHAT'S ABOVE
This is the biggest reason for wrong answers. Although some of the movies can be identified by just one of the clues, some of the clues can apply to the wrong movie, so it is IMPORTANT to take BOTH clues into consideration.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Okay, here we go again - another actor & actress combo quiz. I've particularly enjoyed watching Paul Giamatti in his movies, and about 31 years ago I sat beside Jodie Foster at a charity lunch back in Toronto - so lets see if we can get the number of participants up for this one, but as always, please remember...
This quiz will be open for a week as usual, and will be closed on Friday December 22nd at around 10 p.m. New York City time.
Allow me to be the first to vote up one of the best things on this site.
You have both my permission and my thanks.
So True, so true...
It's fun for me too - and I enjoy spending time on it more than on anything else on NT, especially since I'm no longer taking many photos.

Starting now, while taking a break from searching for a missing cat.
Hope you find the cat. But doesn't just turning on the electric can opener get them running?
LOL, yeah, but when things scare them they usually show up shortly after when the coast is clear. He's been gone for over a day now and has missed a few meals, which is definitely not normal.
Did the cat return? Cats will do that. Let me tell you about my experience with that. Back about half a century ago, my then wife and I were leaving for a 10 day Christmas vacation trip to the UK, and we let my cat Fidget out to do his thing the day before we left, because he always returned right away, especially when there was snow on the ground. But, he DIDN'T return. We went all around the neighbourhood trying to find him but it was getting close to leaving time so we asked a couple of our neighbours to watch for him and if they saw him to take him to the vet whose office was around the corner where I'd arranged for him to be boarded while we were away. Our whole time in England and Wales was under a cloud worrying about Fidget, and when we got home we immediately called the vet, but no cat there, and we asked our neighbours about him and they told us they had seen him now and then but never got to catch him. So we went to bed feeling sick about it, and I woke early and was starting to prepare breakfast when from the other side of the kitchen door to the outside I heard a "meeow", opened the door and Fidget ran immediately where his food and water bowls usually were, didn't see them, looked up at me pleadingly, and amazingly he looked fatter than when we left. The story of the return of the cat.
The sound of the dried food poured into the bowl does it too.
You have a lot of birds hanging out on your property, so maybe the cat just wanted some really fresh meat.
He wouldn't have to leave the yard for birds. He'd barely have to leave the porch, lol.
I've walked all over the place twice, including the woods. Last night and again today, in drizzly rain and cold. Drove up and down the road a few times. Checked with neighbors. Nothing. Not a trace.
My biggest worry is that a coyote got him, but he went missing in the daytime and they aren't really active then, at least not in people's yards.
I really hope he just went on walkabout and will return on his own soon. But he's neutered now, so he shouldn't have much of an urge to do that. He never wandered off before being neutered, so it would be kind of strange. Still, I'm hopeful.
Answers submitted.
Received and scored. Thank you.
Good luck with that - hope the cat returns.
Sunday morning - get your answers in as Christmas is only 8 days away (and the quiz closes in 5 days).
Don't expect a Christmas movie quiz - I did one last year and it's too soon to repeat.
Answered and submitted. There is a note on one of my answers.
Received and scored with thanks, and replied to your note.
It's Monday Morning and the answers are easy to find. Come take a look at something that's not politics or partisan.
And it's Monday afternoon. Come on, we need more submissions...
We only have 4 so far, but there's still lots of time.
To reply to that comment I was going to ask if those non-participants were "stuck in the mud" and I looked up synonyms for it, and the web replied "stick-in-the-mud" and the first synonym that was listed was "conservative". LOL
Got one more to figure out
I'll give you a hint, just don't tell Buzz... the answer to number 22 is to the left...
You're misleading him, Snuffy. You know very well it's to the right.
But you told me not to give clear hints... LOL
I plead guilty.
Number 22 is either False or C
We better stop talking about number 22. I once used it as a clue to a movie, and if you know which one (and it isn't one that either Foster or Giamatti are in) don't post it here.
You will, I'm sure.
Sent them in. Looked out and saw we had a light dusting of snow.
Received and scored, thanks.
Ahh, Tuesday morning. Still time to get your answers in.
And it's starting to cool down for Christmas, today's high should only be 72.
Where do you live?
Phoenix, Arizona. Where NOBODY has ever died from having to shovel sunshine from their driveway in order to get to work.
But we did have snow here back in 1998, but I was a traveling IT consultant at the time and was in Tampa, FL so I missed the snow. Oh darn... LOL
Well, most of my life was spent in Ontario, and now I don't miss the snow, save for the fact that it can make things look more beautiful - like frozen ice on bare tree branches sparkling in the sunlight.
Wednesday morning and it's raining out here. It's a light rain that's on and off, but still a welcome visitation for the desert.
On a wet day, it's a good day for a quiz.
On a dry day as well.
Help!!! We're off the board, and I might have done it myself because I posted the Creative Arts Weekend article due to A.Mac's absence.
Thursday morning, two more days to get in on the quiz and have fun.
Just tonight and tomorrow at this point in time to submit answers.
Submitted.
Looks to be we are headed into another "green" Christmas here, the eve will be rain and the day near 50 degrees. Went along the Huron shore last night and there was a ship moving through, being this late in the year ship traffic is usually shut down in November, but with the current weather pattern ship traffic may well extend into January.
Received and scored, thank you.
Never forget the fate of the Edmund Fitzgerald:
"And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered"
One of the things they worry about, other than the winds, is that it gets cold enough, even with less wave action than what the Edmund Fitzgerald encountered, for the fresh water spray and ice build up, and with enough it, can capsize a ship. The weather hasn't been cold enough long enough to have to worry about ice build up but also all the ports are still ice free.
When I was a little kid, spending summer vacations at my grandmother's cottage on the Burlington Beach strip of land that separates the far west end of Lake Ontario from Hamilton Bay I used to fish off the pier of the canal through the beach strip that allowed ship traffic between the lake and the bay. The big iron ore ships would pass through that canal on the way to The Steel Company of Canada in Hamilton, and I would watch those HUGE (to me) ships sail past from less than 50 feet away.
Bump so that others might play even though my brain is lousy with covid.
Thanks for the bump, and more so because you're suffering.
What?! Not again!
Only about 24 hours to this quiz closing and only 6 have participated.
About six more hours till this quiz is closed - time to take a break from Christmas shopping and get your answers in.
Only a few hours to go now.
I have always read far more than watching TV or movies, but I will comment to try to draw attention to the quiz.
These days, I watch some British shows on BritBox and Acorn TV.
The last "new" movie I watched and really enjoyed was probably the cartoon "Tangled". LOL!
I don't get to see first run movies here because in all my years here I've been to a cinema only once, to experience 4D, but maybe others enjoy being punched in the back, jiggled in their seat and sprayed with mist on their faces, but not me. I watch all my movies on the 7 or 8 cable 24/7 TV movie channels here that show foreign films and there's usually 2 or 3 English language ones playing at any time, and I usually watch movies every day.
This quiz is now closed. When I closed last week's quiz I indicated how each quiz gets less participants, one less each time, and this time it is one less yet again - now only 6 participants. I have already prepared the next quiz and I will post it soon, but if it does not show an increase I will realize that I am going to have to give it a rest, at least for a while.
