BETTE DAVIS FILM QUIZ

 800

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.   POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.  IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.

Bette Davis has made enough movies that I need not share this quiz with another, and as before you didn't have to see those movies because all the answers are either obvious from the clues or they can be found on the linked IMDb movie list below this paragraph, or a mix of both.  As usual, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED  that the movie MUST  be a movie listed on the linked IMDb movie list of 100 Bette Davis movies following this paragraph.  I think I have seen only two of the movies on this quiz that I can remember, so, as always, some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, and some may require you to do some studying of the linked IMDb movie list to find the answers or else it's a mix of both.  I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies.  I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.

Movies of Bette Davis (Complete LIst) (IMDb)  LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls073812586/

Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important

THE RULES

I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name .     For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct.  Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie.  That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct.    As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb list linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer.  In previous quizzes I did accept alternatives for the questions.  Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.

A few times now a situation came up on previous quizzes where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers. Be careful to use ONLY the list linked above , because there may be other similar lists that will not have the same movies on them.

SPECIAL HINT FOR THOSE WHO BOTHER TO READ WHAT'S ABOVE

This is the biggest reason for wrong answers.  Although some of the movies can be identified by just one of the clues, some of the clues can apply to more than one movie on the quiz, so it is IMPORTANT to take BOTH clues into consideration.

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Back to the classics.  This quiz is the films of Bette Davis, whose movie career stretched over many decades.  You might not have seen many or even ANY of these movies, but no problem, you can get a perfect score on this quiz just by identifying what the clues are, or what you can find in the mini-synopsis for each movie on the linked IMDb movie list posted on the quiz, or using a combination of both.  You will see that there can be a different image of what a clue represents on a different question and it could identify more than one movie on the quiz, so you must take into the consideration the OTHER clue in order to choose the correct answer.  So take a break from Christmas celebrations and put a few hours into having some fun, but remember, as always....

This quiz will be closed on Friday December the 29th at around 10 p.m. New York City time.

Sometime it depends.  There were a couple of quizzes where I took several hours over a few days to allow time to rethink, there were others that were very easy.  I would think the average time spent is around a couple of hours total. I think what runs me into trouble the most is when I've seen most of the movies and overthink the clues.  But it's a lot of fun regardless of the time spent, and good to keep the brain moving on.

That means you go shopping on Christmas Day then.  My count included stores being closed on Christmas Day. Next year Christmas Day is the 360th day of the year, with stores closed the # of shopping days next year is 359. Counting today there are 6 days left in this year so the correct number of shopping days is 365.

I kind of miss the days when nothing was open on Christmas Day. And I grew up in a town of about 900 people and we had 13 bars within city limits and another 2 that you could walk to just outside the city limits. Even all the bars were closed.

Back in the day when family was more important than the commercialism of making the next big sale.

In the beginning  these quizzes were about knowledge people might have about movies, now they are a matter of looking down a list and seeing which titles might correspond to the photos.

I doubt there is a single person here who knows the names of 20 Bette Davis movies without help.

I'm glad that some people here enjoy your quizzes, I really am, but , imo, its not something thats going to appeal to a lot of people.

As I've said, it's become more of a game than a quiz, and a distraction from the usual things posted on NT, just as your music articles are, and all those who do participate tell me they have fun doing it.  Since I've been doing them this way, I ran a poll for those to whom I send quiz notifications to choose whether I should make the quizzes more challenging, less challenging, or just the same.  Only one player chose more challenging with all the rest choosing for me to carry on the same.  When the quizzes were based on knowledge of facts drawn from them you were the only one to complain about it.  Perhaps one day I'll try posting one similar to my original quizzes, but I might lose players that way, just as I lost you.

This quiz is now closed.  Eight members played and all did extremely well.  Sharing first place with scores of a perfect 20, in order of submitting their answers, were Dig, Snuffy, bccrane and Perrie , while all four others shared second place with scores of 19: charger 383, Jasper2529, Vic Eldred and Veronica.  My congratulations and thanks to all who participated.  The question that I had said the clues might get a laugh on the part of the players, number 6, got the most wrong answers, but that was because other possibilites were close, but not close enough.
