CAINE & KNIGHTLY MOVIE QUIZ
CAINE & KNIGHTLY MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. THIS QUIZ IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS QUIZ.
Since the numbers of participants are dwindling, and the larger majority who voted the 'picture clue numbers' poll indicated a preference for two picture clues per question this quiz is an acquiescence to that preference. This quiz is back to two different actors with separate IMDb movie lists and two picture clues per question. The third clue per question is, and for the answer to be correct, it is REQUIRED that it MUST be a movie on the linked IMDb movie lists for 40 Michael Caine movies and 44 Keira Knightley movies located just below this paragraph. There may be similar lists and in fact ARE with the same name so please use ONLY the ones that are linked. The visual clues represent words, scenarios or images that may be relevant to the movie title or can be found in the mini-synopsis of the movie on the linked IMDb lists. That means you will not have had to see the movie to identify the movie from the visual clues because you may not have seen the movies I've chosen. I have seen only six of the movies on this quiz - a few may have already been used in previous quizzes, and I may have used the same or similar clues for one or two of them as I had before. I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using google or web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating. The real fun of the quiz is using the visual clues and mini-synopses required to identify the movies, so cheating just means you're a dishonest person , if that's what you want to think of yourself for the rest of your life.
Michael Caine Movies (IMDb) LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls068752476/?sort=alpha,asc&st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1
Keira Knightly Filmography (IMDb) LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls069642446/
Be careful to use ONLY THOSE particular linked lists because there are similar lists that do not have the same movies listed, some even with the exact same title.
IMPORTANT!!! It is possible that one of the clues could indicate more that one movie, so it is IMPORTANT that you take BOTH clues into consideration.
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name . For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct. Just identifying the image does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb lists linked above , I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In previous quizzes I did accept alternatives for the questions. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.
A few who played the quizzes previously had quit because of the rules. But I wish to ask if there is a game or quiz that does NOT have rules that must be followed?
A few times now a situation came up on previous quizzes where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Last time it was Commonwealth, this time it's Brits alone, and back to 2 picture clues to see if it can improve the participation. I used a photo of Sir Michael Caine purposely so I could tell you this story. I met him in Toronto. When Variety Club of Ontario ran a TV Telethon, since he was a guest for our telethon he also agreed to do a PSA for our charity, and I was required to manage the filming of the PSA. What we discovered is that he couldn't read the cue cards for love or money because he's blind as a bat without his glasses, so although we preferred that he would have done it without glasses, we were happy to have a celebrity like him do it even with wearing glasses.
So lets see if two picture clues will improve the participation, because if it doesn't, maybe posting quizzes every week is too much. Anyway, please all give it a shot, but remember always...
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
This quiz will be open for a week and will be closed on Friday March 15th at around 10 p.m. New York City time.
Will try to do my part!
Didn't you say something like that on the last quiz?
I'm guilty too.
I guess some of us are in great demand.
You shouldn't spread yourself too thin.
Interesting choice, should be fun
They always are. I'm just sad that so few NT members don't realize it's really just a fun game and they don't need to have seen ANY of the movies on the quiz in order to get a perfect score.

Submitted.
Received and scored, with thanks.
Will get started soon
Still lots of time.

It's Sunday morning. Before you settle in this evening to watch the glitz and glamor of the Oscars, take a moment to do the movie quiz. It's fun & easy.
Maybe watching the Academy Award Show will prompt someone to try playing a fun quiz game about the movies. (A dream that I'm sure won't come true.)
Answered and submitted
Received and scored. Thank you.
It's going to be a busy week for me, but going through the clues and list I have a few done already and should be able to submit later this week.
I'm glad you discovered that this one isn't exactly a killer.
It's Monday morning. Relive the magic of the Oscars by taking this movie quiz!!
I'll relive when the Oscars WERE magic - back when Bob Hope was the host.
Just four more to go and a bump up.
1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to get ready and 4 to go.
it's Tuesday morning, did you get the memo?
So much politics, so little fun. Go ahead, have a little fun and take the quiz.
Great advice falls on deaf ears.
Actually it's Wednesday morning where I am, and the memo hasn't arrived yet it must be on that proverbial "slow boat".
And a Happy Wednesday morning to you. (yeah, yeah, I know. Now it's your Thursday. Imagine that, living in China is so advanced you're even a day ahead).
LOL. It's not that it's advanced, it's no more advanced than America is, but it enables me to live so much more comfortably, and safer, on my income than I possibly could in Canada or the USA.
Unfortunately, your attempts alone to keep the quiz visible are not enough, and at this point, a little more than 2 days away from closing, only 4 have participated. Instead of interest in doing a fun quiz that is more of a game and doesn't even require seeing any of the movies on the quiz, the interest in the quiz is dwindling which is causing me to think seriously about what to do.
I do understand, it's a shame if this ends. Perhaps just maybe do one a month? Maybe that would help bring some people in? I don't know, so many people here just want to play their partisan games and bitch about the 'other' side. sigh...
It is unfortunate that so much of the NT membership is made up of persons whose preference is to play one-upmanship and try to display their self-believed "superiority" over others. I guess people have fun doing that rather than playing a fun game where everyone wins and nobody loses.
I wish you would stop saying, or strongly implying that the only reason people don't play your game anymore is because they'd rather argue about politics.
Have you given any thought to coming up with a new game?
Thanks for noticing. Have you given any thought to helping keep the quiz going? I thought you were pretty big on movies.
We're kind of going off topic here, but I'll let it go.
Got 2 left to figure out
Waiting impatiently.
Sent them in
After looking at the clues and lists several times, went back and the answers to last 2 just came to me with one look
Received and scored. Thank you.
The Oscars have caused much debate
about how new movies rate
Show us what you know about the movie buz
and answer Buzz's quiz
That's the best rhyme
I can come up with at this time
The quiz is seen front page
When pushed to mount the stage
As long as done by players
Like poets who rhyme with prayers.
NOTICE TO INTENDED PLAYERS: The quiz closes in 24 hours from now.
Just sent in.
Raining this morning so what's left of the corn in the fields will have to wait a few more days. Combine broke down so worked on it yesterday morning and was able to get two truck loads off before the customer accepting the corn shut down for the day. That's the problem with doing off season harvesting you're at the whim of your customer, but there is no need for drying charges.
Received and scored, thanks.
Not only did my wife grow up on a farm, but now she has a plot of land next to the nearby mountains that are within walking distance where she grows many different vegetables. The people who do that not only respect each other's crops, have become friends, but often make trades for ones they don't grow themselves. My wife knows her veggies so well she has wandered through a wild field for a half an hour and come back with enough for a meal of greens between us. Of course she is also a great cook, and we rarely have to buy any vegetables now.
LAST CALL (although 7 have played I don't expect any more answers to be submitted). The quiz will be closed in a little less than 3 hours.
This quiz is now closed. Six of the seven who played got perfect 20 scores. They are, in order of submitting their answers, Snuffy, Dig, Veronica, charger 383, bccrane and Perrie. Vic takes second place with a score of 18. Congratulations and thank you to all.
I have not posted a new quiz because I wanted to see the effect of returning to a two image clues quiz, and how many would play. Having noted that attracting new players is pretty well nothing more than wishful thinking, my concern about all those perfect scores is that there is little challenge to such a quiz which causes me to be concerned that the quiz will simply be so easy that it could become a bore and lose even more players from the number that is dwindling already. As well, save for a couple of players putting some extra effort into keeping the quiz visible, it was off the page most of the week, which also makes me feel that support for the quiz is waning.
Therefore I intend to think about what I am going to do next, and may have a new quiz posted by this time next Friday. In the meantime, take a rest from it. I think I need the rest.
Here are the answers for those who care...
Thanks Buzz. it was a fun quiz if an easy one.
congrats all who played.
Whenever you post the next one I will play
As Major Heinrich Strasser said in the movie Casablanca, "I expected no less."
