TRAGIC ENDING MOVIE GAME

 800

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE ELSE.    POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.   THIS GAME IS SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS GAME, BUT REQUIRES ONLY ONE MOVIE LIST INSTEAD OF TWO.

This game will be about the same as the previous one save that it is a single topic requiring only one IMDb movie list.  Almost all the questions require only one picture clue combined with the titles and mini-synopses information on the linked IMDb movie list, and in order to differ the answer from other possibilities only two questions required two picture clues.  This is a lot easier than my previous creations because in many cases the single picture clue will virtually shout out the movie title.  For the answer to be correct, it is REQUIRED  that it MUST be a movie on the linked IMDb movie list of 80 Tragic Ending movies located just below this paragraph.  The visual clues represent words, scenarios or images that may be relevant to the movie title or words relevant to the movie title can be found in the mini-synopsis of the movie on the linked IMDb list. That means you will not have had to see the movie or know the story to identify the movie from the clues.  I have seen 6 of the movies on this game that I can remember - a few may have already been used in previous quizzes, and I may have used the same or similar clues for one or two of them as I had before.  I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies.  I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your ability to find the answers, web searching using google or web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.  The real fun of the game is using the visual clues and mini-synopses required to identify the movies, so cheating just means you're a dishonest person, if that's what you want to think of yourself for the rest of your life.

Tragic Ending (IMDb) LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls062349846/

There may be similar lists with a similar title so please use ONLY  the one that is linked.

IMPORTANT!!!   In the case of the two movies with two picture clues it is IMPORTANT  that you take BOTH  clues into consideration because one of the picture clues alone could indicate the wrong movie.

Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same game.

THE RULES

I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name.  For example, and this will be important for all my games, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct.  Just identifying the image does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie.  That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct.  As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. Previously I did accept alternative movies for the questions.     Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.

A few who played the quizzes previously had quit because of the rules. But I wish to ask if there is a game that does NOT  have rules that must be followed?

A few times now a situation came up previously where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got when they opened that same movie name although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers.

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Although life does have its happy endings (a term that could have a censorable meaning) it also has its tragic ones.  This time you are being asked to play the game of naming the movies wherein clues are provided to you, mostly one picture clue per movie (just two require two picture clues) and a list of 80 tragic ending movies from which to choose.  See what you can do with this, but only if you want to have the fun of playing the game.  However, as always....

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE ELSE.   POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

This game will be closed and the winners announced Monday evening April 22nd at about 10 p.m. New York time.

Please do. It might be fun to run a game where only the 'incorrect' answers are accepted.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PLAYERS:

I have changed the clue for number 6 because I came to the conclusion that the clue that I had posted originally was misleading.

Some of the clues absolutely SHOUT the answer to you, but at least one of them is going to make you think WAY out of the box, because it is very tricky, and if you do eventually figure out the answer you will realize how easy it really was.

This game is now closed, a little later than usual because my 15-year-old computer is giving me some problems.  All seven players made it to the Winners' Circle.  The only one who got them all right, a perfect score 20, is charger 383.  Coming in second sharing scores of 19 are Dig, Perrie and Snuffy.  Taking third place with scores of 18 are Split Personality and bccrane, while Honourable Mention goes to Vic Eldred with 17.   Only two were able to answer the killer question, which was number 4, by thinking "acronym".  Both thanks and congratulations to all.

For the sake of those from afar, for those who don't play games, and those who like to play as long as they have the answers, here they are:

  1.  The Wedding Curse - a daisy
  2.  Se7en - the seven deadly sins
  3.  Videodrome - Toronto skyline
  4.  I See You - a hospital ICU unit
  5.  Carrie - high school senior prom
  6.  When a Stranger Calls - a ringing phone
  7.  Ginger Snaps - ginger root & a werewolf
  8.  Mirrors - mirrors (Didn't that shout out what the answer was?)
  9.  Saw - chess pawns
  10. The Mist - a supermarket
  11. Identity - a Nevada motel
  12. Wish Upon - a special box
  13. The Purge - a target
  14. United 93 - a crashed airliner
  15. Bwakaw - a middle-aged taxi driver
  16. The Green Mile - a green 1 mile sign
  17. Hollow Man - an invisible man
  18. Buried - a lighter & a cell phone
  19. Birdshot - a young farm girl
  20. The Fly - a fly (give it up if you didn't get this one)

I will be posting the next game soon - it will be about Canadian actors, Donald Sutherland and Anna Paquin.

Thanks for the encouragement, it helps to keep me going notwithstanding that a couple members prefer to bitch about it.  I'm always open to fair criticism, and I have complied more than once by making changes to what I do, but some people prefer to only see negatives rather than appreciate the positives.
