PIRATE MOVIES GAME
PIRATE MOVIES GAME
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. THIS GAME IS SIMILAR TO PREVIOUS SINGLE CLUE GAMES.
For the answer to be correct, it is REQUIRED that it MUST be a movie on the linked IMDb movie list of 100 Best Pirate Movies of All Time located just below this paragraph. The visual clues represent words, scenarios or images that may be relevant to the movie title or words relevant to the movie title that can be found in the mini-synopsis of the movie on the linked IMDb list. That means you will not have had to see the movie or know the story to identify the movie from the clues, which is why this is a game more like a treasure hunt than a quiz. I have seen only 4 of the movies on this game that I can remember, and it's possible a few may have already been used in previous quizzes, wherein I may have used the same or similar clues for one or two of them as I had before. I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your ability to find the answers, web searching using google or web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating. The real fun of the game is using the visual clues and mini-synopses required to identify the movies, so IMO if you cheat you are the biggest loser even if you're able to fool the rest of us.

There may be similar lists with a similar title so please use ONLY the one that is linked.
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same game
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, and this will be important for all my games, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct. Just identifying the image does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb lists linked above , I will accept that alternative as a good answer. Previously I did accept alternative movies for the questions.
Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.
A few who played the quizzes previously had quit because of the rules. But I wish to ask if there is a game that does NOT have rules that must be followed?
A few times now a situation came up previously where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got when they opened that same movie name although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Did anyone miss the movie games? It's been quite a while, so sharpen up your eyes and finger tips and let's get back to having some fun. When I posted the article about pirate ships a few hours ago it mentioned movies and I guess that got me going with the idea. So come on back to the games and give this one a try, but remember as always...

This quiz will be open for a week, and will be closed at about 10 p.m. New York City time on Wednesday, June 26th.
figured a some out
Most of them are easy but a few might be a little trickier.
Sweet - looks like a really fun game. Time to play!!!!
For sure.
Looks like a good one Buzz!
It is.
Just a few more to go. Had some time to kill waiting for a confirmation fax. So far this is an easy one, SO, for all others out there, NO EXCUSES.
I didn't want to do a hard one that would discourage players from returning to the game.
I'll give it my best, Buzz
I know you will.
Sent in what I got, going to ride the Reading Railroad and might not have time when I get back. They are running a steam powered excursion train this weekend
enjoyed something fun and different
Received and scored, thanks. Riding the rails may not be different for you, but I'll bet it's going to be fun.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PLAYERS
Due to a duplication I have replaced the movie and its clue for number 10.
Thanks for that, I was wondering how I got the same answer for two of them... hehe
I think I'd better clean the rust from my wheels for the next game.

Received and scored, thank you.

This morning woke up to some thunder and it started raining, no wind just rain and occasional thunder. Was just getting ready to go to work when I noticed the trees in the front yard were being pushed by a wind from the west, so went out to investigate and it suddenly shifted from out of the southeast and becoming very strong, it broke a tree over on the edge of my lawn and a cottonwood tree started shedding its limbs, my first thought was a tornado again, so started scanning for it and noticed that the wind was to the horizon, too big an area for a tornado and the upper clouds were barely moving while the lower clouds were moving, what looked to be, about 50 mph. The wind has now stopped and the sun is breaking through, the wind lasted about 1-1/2 hours.
Oh yeah, a bump up.
Thanks for the weather report, and oh yeah, the bump up.
Now that all is settled down, my dad's house has a tree on it, he's OK, his power is out and the outage map is extensive, so he may be a few days without power.
It looks like the center of the storm system that hit MN and WI went right over us and that is why the high winds.
Nature is fighting back.
Oh no. Glad to hear he's ok. I hope there's not too much damage from the tree.
It was a black walnut tree about 36" at the base, but the tree hit with the upper limbs where they were about 6 to 8 inches about 1/3 of the entire tree. The thing about black walnut is the limbs are brittle and the largest one to hit the house snapped and slowed the rest of the tree. It's a steel roof so no holes but the soffit is destroyed where it hit.
Just noticed this morning that around the shop there is a pleasant sweet smell. A catalpa tree was in full bloom when the wind hit and the ground is littered with blossoms and leaves from the catalpa as well as small limbs and leaves from the cottonwoods in the yard.
In all my years in Canada I remember only one incident of a tornado that I witnessed myself - the sky turned green.
Submitted.
Received and scored. Thanks.
Six have played so far - hope there will be more. There are only 24 more hours to closing time.
Get your answers in today
Only three hours left, so I don't expect any more than the six who played.
This game is now closed. Six have taken the trouble to have a little fun on NT, too many may not know that they don't have to see one movie in their life to be able to enjoy playing and get a perfect score with this game. Anyway, I leave them to their idea of what fun is, and can announce the winners of this game. Obtaining perfect scores of 20 out of 20 are Snuffy and Dig . Veronica got a score of 19 giving her second place while charger 383, Vic Eldred and bccrane shared third place with scores of 18. My congratualations to all for achieving a place on the winners circle, and I thank you all for playing.
The next game should now be posted. Its link is ->
It's about chick flicks, and is bound to be as much fun as this one was. So hopefully more members might take a shot at it. I can't BEG them to have a little fun - it is their decision to be made.
Congrats Dig, and a hearty well-done to all who played and had fun.
Thanks Buzz, another fun quiz!
You're welcome, Snuffy, and thanks for your wholehearted support of the game (no longer reaally a quiz).
Damn!!! Forgot to post the answers., Here they are....
