Mama bear, 5 cubs beat the heat in New Jersey family's pool
ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. A mama bear and her five cubs decided to beat the heat in a New Jersey backyard pool.
Tim Basso posted a video online showing the bears climbing into his family's above-ground pool, tumbling out of it, dragging around pool toys and climbing on a slide and swing set.
Basso tells News 12 New Jersey his 3- and 5-year-old daughters weren't eager to share their toys. One of the girls can be heard on the video crying out "No!" as a cub grabs an inflatable toy.
The family watched the bears from inside the safety of their Rockaway Township home.
Basso says he thought the bears would stop only briefly for a drink but ended up frolicking for nearly an hour.
They look like they're having a ball! Are 5 cubs normal? Or is she, perhaps, a neighborhood mom that took all the kids with her?
I love this! Thanks so much!
I don't know how many is the norm for mama bearsto have at one time, but, they sure had a lot of fun!! I'm glad you enjoyed it Dowser!!
You don't see that often. 5 cubs is very unusual, 2 to 3 is much more the norm.
Funny to watch them.
It's cute to see them romp and play. Andwhat an extraordinary number of cubs.
Not so cute to see them tear upa couple ofhundred dollars worth of pool accessories, not to mention the pool itself. I hope all was well after the filter went into the water.
I know a bear will crap in the woods, but do you think a bear would pee in a pool?
They're so cute!
Kav.....I'm so glad they got it on video to share.
Dowser, I'll be those cubs were very tired after all of that water play.
All the wildlife I got in my pool in Toronto was a pair of Mallard ducks that stopped off on their migration, both ways, year after year.
but do you think a bear would pee in a pool? If they do, they certainly aren't going to admit it!!
Very, very cute! Though it makes me glad we don't have any bears around here.
Well, that's pretty cool Buzz!!
LOL We have to wait for the next edition to find out I guess.....sigh
umm...I'm glad there are none near me!
