Beautiful bird and photos Mac.
Thanks.
BTW, I used to live in Downey CA.
LOL Mac, thecity spells it with the E to respect the Downy Woodpecker, since it was here long before the city existed.
Then I give them an "E" in spelling.
Wonderful shots Mac. I just love those little guys. Get me a downy owl and I will be in 7th heaven.
I never saw one when I was in Zion National Park.
How 'bout I drive up your way and we head out there and see if we can spot one?
I actually liked to hear the occasional tapping of the woodpecker on the tree trunks when I was up in my cottage. Great bird shots as usual A.Mac.
Buzz,
I occasionally hear Flickers "tapping" on metal downspouts and Pileateds ripping up wooden sheds.
But Downys, their cool to have around.
Great !! I have never seen one of these before. Thanks for sharing her and all of the work you do.
We see them every day especially in these sub freezing temperatures. Bird feeder stays active but Falcons introduced by the states kill thousands every winter. Big fine on killing them.
When the Red-tailed Hawks swoop down, they clear every critter from my yard.
