Aratiois a statement of how two numbers compare. It is a comparison of the size of one number to the size of another number.
At present, The News Talkers is virtually overrun by unkind, insensitive, rude and mean people who also have no other agenda than to bring everyone else down. So it's not enjoyable, useful or beneficial to hang out here and pretend this is a nice place for reasonable and kind people to talk about stuff that matters to us.
So I quit.
I'll check in from time to time to see if the ratio improves, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

There is no public place online where you can go to escape the trolls. None. Knowing that, a person must condition themselves to ignore and not respond to trolls. Ultimately, there is no other way to deal with this. Heated discussions are not always troll bait.
Sadder still is why I would have to think, imagine or speculate whether someone posting is REAL. I've been taken for a fool twice on this freaking site, it tiresome and childish. Last time I talked about not having the secret NT decoder ring many of you appear to have...is there a secret page to discover?

Lynne, my understanding is that there is NO evidence that James Martin was a fake.
Others can produce such evidence if they have it. Eyetoldya should not be declaring the person a fake without some sort of evidence. But little things like that don't stop numerous people here from acting out.
NT is becoming anything goes, because it is allowed. It's pretty much that simple.
I always acted under the assumption that NT was a place to discuss news, political and cultural issues, when it really is a form of social media for people to say just about any uninformed and un self regulated thing they like.
The person who is accusing James Martin of being a "fake" has repeatedly posted "fake" information on this site and changed his name and avatar DOZENS of times.

I guess I can hang out in the various member-only sanctuaries in here. And I will hope that NT will somehow cultivate a kinder, more welcoming atmosphere.
I'm all for the free and open / honest of opinion ... free speech. But such discussion should occur in an atmosphere of basic respect and kindness. There are a bunch of daily posting regulars in here who were unkind, rude, insensitive and disrespectful from the moment I arrived. I suppose we all know which are which, and perhaps the solution is for all of us to ignore them entirely -- but you know they will talk amongst themselves ... then, perhaps, grow bored eventually.
So I'll stick around for private communications with select members here ... in whatever member-only sanctuaries we have or can create.

I have changed my name , on average, once a year since I have been at NT. You have on occasion changed yours once an hour for a number of hours, and have more often done it once a day or once a week. You have also posted numerous fake news stories intended to fool the casual reader.

OK this has to stop. It is not healthy for the site or the membership. The constant name calling and fighting is destructive. I checked out James IP and it came up clean. I do the same to every member. But this petty arguing is getting to the rest of the membership that would just like to post and be taken seriously.
James, I am sorry that you have experienced the "ugly side" of the site, so very quickly. Please reconsider-- there are many of us who enjoy your posts and your company!
And I enjoy many of the folks here as well. There is a lot of mutual admiration and respect between myself and many others here. It isn't robust debate that is being chafed about. It is bullshite comments meant to denigrate the poster. It is about carefully crafted insults rather than intelligent dialogue.
It's about people that chose to trash rather than discuss.
