Mal Goes To Mount Rainier

Mal packs up his travois and heads out to take some photos at Mount Rainier.

There are lots of photos you can see in the slide show at the end of this article, but I am including some of my favs as static images just in case the slide show doesn't work for you.

First a few photos of the mountain... DSC_0181.jpg

Now some wildflowers... DSC_0137.jpg

Oh... Sorry about the bugs... They kept jumping in saying, "Take my picture... Take my picture..." DSC_0004-2.jpg

DSC_0159.jpg

Now a water in motion shot... I finally got one of these... it is pretty tricky to get this kind of shot... I had to find a spot that was mostly shaded, so I could use a slow shutter speed without blowing out the image... DSC_0173.jpg

The last images are of hand painted lampshades. The artist is Dale Thompson. There are many of these shades (small to huge) in the lobby of the Paradise Inn Lodge... 6135100398_8fd830f4fd_o.jpg

Now the slide show...

Mal,

What an amazing selection of photos! How Beautiful! I love the slide show. You are very talented, my doggie pal.

What do you think of the site? Is it good for photography?

Thanks Perrie!

I like the site... at least what I have seen so far. It seems to be good for photography, although there are lots of things I have yet to try. One significant improvement that I see is the "Like" button. I also think starting right out with rich text editor for comments (not having to switch into that mode) is a real plus.

I haven't been doing much photography these days... because my day job is keeping me really busy, and then I decided to take on the stage manager position for a local play production. So far we have had 5 of the 9 performances for the run of this play, and we have gotten an uproarious standing ovation for every one so far... knock on wood... It is quite a funny play, God of Carnage (I think it is coming out as a movie soon)... think, Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf meets I Love Lucy... two couples discussing an altercation between their son's which starts out cordial and devolved into pandemonium... It's hysterical!!! As I mentioned to you earlier, Perrie, one of the leads was quite late in getting his lines... It was making me REALLY nervous, but he managed to accomplish it... and the whole thing has been a terrific success.

One of these days, I will get out there and shoot some new photos... So you will see more of me... But, due to my SM (that's Stage Manager... I don't want to hear anything about whips and chains) job, it will be a few weeks before I can shoot any new photos.

It sounds like you are having a wonderful time as stage manager! I wanted to see that play when it was on Broadway. Now, I will have to wait until the movie.

Damn! You wouldn't give me the dirty talk, LOL!

I'm trying to get as much feedback, to make the site really easy & fun to use. The choices are wild! I can even put a gaming page up!

When you have the time, I would like to change the header a bit. I have an image I would like to embed, but I need to know a lot of code to do that. I was hoping you could give me a hand with it. But no worries if you are too busy.

I hope you won't be sad when your play ends, especially since it did so well!

Very nice Mal . The tips were excellent too . I wonder how many bad shots I
would have taken of a waterfall before I would have thought of what to do ...

Hey!!! Where are we supposed to post our photo-essays? Here or on the Photography Group? It's a pain in the ass not to know where the photos are.

I don't know if it's where I am, the internet provider, the school's server or my computer, but when I click on the little red x's for the lampshade photos, then on the menu "show picture" the red x disappears and nothing is shown. As well, the slide show is just blanks for me.

By the way, Mal, sorry for all my complaintsl. I forgot to say that I did get to see the original photos you took (but not the lampshades or the slide show), and they are magnificent.
