I was in Pamplona for the Festical of San Fermin in 1974 -- the running of the Bulls in Pamplona Spain. The festival begins at the 7th minute, of the 7th day, of the 7th month each year and people cme from around the world to drink wine, run with bulls, party 4 hours per day and meet some of the best people you will ever come across. The running with the bulls part of the vacation was not the smartest thing I have done in my life, but I as 21 an my blood was pretty much 50%/50% plasma and sangria that week.I had just finished reading Hemmingway's The Sun Also Rises and I was living the dream. I would not do it again but I am glad that I did it when had the chance and the courage.
Nothing on this planet or in the entire universe could make me go anywhere near there while those bulls are loose! The photos are amazing, though. I hope all those who were gored survived it!
Amazingly enough year in and year out there are very few deaths or serious injuries, despite the level of alcohol and testosterone in the area for the entire festival.
It is a magnificent experience to be accomplished under the influence and when one is young and agile

Thanks for the feedback
I've done a lot of really crazy things in my life, but running with the bulls isn't one of them. But if I was 20 or so again, yup, I'd give it a go.
I had to laugh at the second photo - showing a runner lying on the ground with a big target painted on his backside.
I ALWAYS cheer for the bulls. The humans are the stupid animals here and they deserve every taste of the horn!

And remember a lot of alcohol was involved and the encouragement and participation of many likewise inebriated comrades.

The outfits are greatly varied and imaginative and part of the entertainment of the festival on a daily basis during the Festival of San Fermin

When I was there, we started each day hoping that no one and no bulls would be hurt that day - wishing someone harm is never good karma

It was a lot of fun, but largely in a slight to moderate to heavy alcohol fog so details are a little hazy
The sangria is very good!
Some of those costumes seem to be for actual matadors and toreadors, which makes me think of the Toreador song from the opera Carmen:
"Toreador-uh, don't spit on the floor-uh. Use the cuspidor-uh, that's what it's for-uh."

I have listened to the music of the opera, but never quite picked out that line
Thanks for the info
