Star Wars
I have tried. And I mean I have honestly and sincerely and even desperately tried to like the Three Star Wars moves. Chapters One, Two and Three. Really I have! BELIEVE me! I swear I have. Yet I have failed. For me there will always be the what I consider the "Original three films, Chapters Four, Five and Six. I can't help it! Really! I think I was set up! I was sucked in by George Lucas into seeing those three! And then, after seeing A new Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jdei, I was pre-conditioned, pre-set-up, to love the first three chapters. The new films. I loved the first three (actually the middle three) so much, they were so good, that George Lucas thought he could do anything with the "First three chapters" and fans would just buy it and love it. That he could just "phone it in" and not put any real effort into them and that fans would drink his very, very, very weak beer down and love it. It failed. The "First Three Chapter" films of the nine sucked dead baby bears. I mean they really did! They stunk! They were TERRIBLE! They didn't deserve to be part of the same franchise of films! They were AWFUL! There is no way to express just how bad they were compared to Chapters Four, Five and Six! Four, Five and Six had it all! They were Si-Fi and old shoot 'em up Westerns at the same time! A nearly impossible task to accomplish! Genius!!!!
Right now I am watching for the countless time "A New Beginning", Chapter Four and it is every bit as good as seeing it the first time I saw it in the theater in 1977. It's like re-reading a very much beloved book or comic book again and again! It never gets old! I hope George has something a whole lot better for the next three, because they have to stand next to giants and the first three were just miniature replicas. Toys. Bad, made in China, easily breakable, garbage, toys.
In a minute I'm going to throw The Empire Strikes Back for more times then I can count and I will enjoy it as much as always. The same will never be said about Chapters One, Two and Three.
BTW, if you get a chance to watch a film called "John Wick" and you decide not to, then you're far to stupid to watch movies at all and should be condemned to life in prison, with your eyes held open, watching constant repeats of The Wendy Williams Show until all remnants of sanity leave your brain...forever.
Chapters One, Two, and Three of the Star Wars franchise SUCK!!!!! They always have! They always ill! They were terrible!
BTW, watch "John Wick" or you're a moron.
Nobody involved in making money out of Episodes I, II and III gives a damn that you didn't like them, as long as you paid to see them or bought the DVDs.
I'll definitely check to see if I can get John Wick on the movie channels here.
I didn't pay to see 1, 2 or 3. My son had them on netflix. They sucked.
All I can get is the John Wicks trailer/preview.
Keanu Reeves took almost year off to learn "Reeves spent four months learning Judo , Japanese ju-jitsu , and Brazilian jiu-jitsu from "some of the toughest guys" both Stahelski and Leitch have encountered, which included their " LA SWAT and Navy SEALS friends" to prepare for this role, including turning down several plum roles to get ready to play "John Wick". Rarely, outside of De Niro, has any actor spent so much time and effort and preparing for a single role. The film itself took nearly another year to film because of how complex the choreography was for the gun fight and hand to hand combat scenes. When you watch it, it is exactly like watching Fred Astaire dance. The sequel will be released until January of 2017, however it is very hard to believe any film could equal this original. You can NOT consider yourself a true connoisseur of modern gangster films without having seen this one. The critics raved, it did not do well at the box office. The critics were right this time. If you don't have this film burned into your brain, then you are a rank amateur of modern gangster film.
Embarrassing trivia tidbit: Give me any line in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi, and I can give you the next line without looking it up. What's really sad, is that not only do I remember the name of the guy that took to see my first Star Wars movie, but I also remember what I wore on that date. Just to put it in perspective, I can't remember what I made for supper last night.
I have yet to sit through any subsequent episodes (after Return of the Jedi) in their entirety.
Give me any line in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi, and I can give you the next line without looking it up.
That's what makes them classic. Do you remember any line at all from The Phantom Menace? I'll bet you don't.
Randy you are spot on! As each chapter, beyond the first three, were released, we'd go with anticipation only to be disappointed.
I mention John Wick to my best guy and he proceeds to tell me what a great flick it is. He's a night owl, usually up to 3 or 4 watching movies via Netflix, Hulu and our nephew's server (we don't ask where the media comes from)!
You and he have peaked my interest...on my movie list for the weekend.
Never much liked any of the "Star Wars" films. I lean more toward darker more adult oriented scifi.
John Wick? I'm with you. Hard to go wrong with an extremely well done and choreographed revenge movie. Wick is a beautiful dance of brutality. Thumbs up! Saw a short vid of Keanu running a three gun shoot in real time. That fellow can shoot and move. Impressive. On the other hand, were I a rich movie star with unlimited ammo I'd be that good as well. Nonetheless, he is a shooter.
Oh, apparently, there is another Wick movie in the works. As well as a remake or continuation of "Blade Runner".
There is also a prequel of the Alien franchise in the work, Alien Rising. I saw the first part, Prometheus and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Me as well. There does seem to be a pretty good group of scifi out there and coming. "Sense8". "Humans". "Stranger Things". "Mr Robot". Not too mention film.
