Meta: NT is Moving!

It is with great excitement that I announce that NT will be moving to it's new home. The process will start early in the morning of Wednesday, October 7th . This email is to inform you what will happen.
First of all, after much searching, I found a platform that will import the bulk of our material! This was vital to my finding a new platform. During our last move from Grouply, we lost a year's worth of the members writings. Now that will not be an issue. I would still give this warning. No process is perfect, so if there is some articles that you want to keep, please take this week to copy them for safe keeping.
Also, your accounts will be transferred along with all of NT's material. You will be sent a new temporary password to get into your originalaccount that you set up your here, so during the process of moving, please be on the lookout for it. Please check your junk mail. If you don't get it, please copy down this email to contact me:

Also, please take care to make sure that your user name does not have an underscore ( _ ) or extra spaces, as this will interfere with getting into your account. Once you have signed in using the temporary password, you will be able to reset it to anything you like.
I am going to try to minimize the downtime (offline). Here is how the process of the move will go: The sandbox site that has been beta tested will become: thenewstalkerscom.jamroomhosting.com and import of our present Ning material will be going on while the Ning site is still live. We then, asap, switch the domain servers (the site might not be accessible at that time for a short while), and the Ning site will still accessible at this addy: thenewstalkers.ning.com . At the same time, if you use the addy thenewstalkers.com and get to a site that looks kind of like NT does now, you should log in as using your temporary password. You can still post and get to me on thenewstalkers.ning.com , you should find yourself on the new platform. If you are posting on the Ning site, we will do a last minute import to pick up any interim items and posts, but it would be better to start using the new platform.
We have members who have participated in beta testing and are willing to help all the members get over the transition period. Raven Wing, Dowser, NWM and I are available to help, and I have made some instructional videos to let you know about all the wonderful new features this platform has. You can find the videos on the top tabs of the new platform.
I am very excited about this move. It has taken me a lot of hard work and time to set it up. Obviously, there will be things that will need tweaking as we go along, so please give me feedback. But I think you will all enjoy the speed, new great features and setup of the new site.

The new site is absolutely beautiful, and will be so much fun! There are some differences about how it works, it will take a little getting used to-- BUT, it is going to be so much better!
I want to thank Perrie for all her time, effort, and sheer work to get this site up and running! I can't imagine what she has been through to get this going... Thank you, Perrie!

Yes groups and all their discussions and chats will be moved along to the new site.

Not to be a pest but will the converted files be accessible by a completely different addressing scheme than the Ning address ? To get to an old seed/article after it has been moved will there be any advice you can give now ? Also will there be a columnist's column similar to what we have on Ning ?

The site is fully mobile responsive. That means you'll get the whole front page, module by module, so no more pinching the screen, with a nice clear interface. One of the many reasons for the move. This site is not mobile responsive. It is usable if you pinch the screen, but not easy to use, and the mobile app isn't good to use.
And since I am always on the move, this was very important to me.
You can try to bring up the homepage now on your phone.
Yes. You should be able to find your articles on your own homepage.
Not sure I understand. I am giving notice now, so if there is there are some articles that you want to backup (since when dealing with downloads/uploads and servers anything can happen), you have a week to do that in.

I have a file called BF's sock puppets. Everything there will be dumped or stored to be used for a congressional hearing.

You may wish to really think about your screen name-- I don't believe you can change it, once you've signed up.
I will be trying to publish the general avatars on the site, somehow! I know that you are exceptionally talented and can make your own avatar, but some of us have trouble with that...
There is also a TABLE function-- where you can insert a table! YAY!!!

Allow me to clarify a bit!
The front page will be the same for everyone, BUT, you can select which Discussion Forum you want to see! It won't be a conglomeration of goo like it is now. You want to discuss politics? You go to the News and Politics forum. If you're having a day where you just can't bear it, you go to something else!!!

So I checked them again, just now, because you said to check them. I was hoping something magical may have happened, but they are still sitting there, just as they have been since, like forever, with every box checked, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE;
My email address is also correct on my profile page, as it would have to be in order for me to be receiving NT alerts for everything else.
Is the Jamroom page up now? I keep getting the "NT is down for maintenance" message.

Jerry, check the front page, the message has changed. There was an issue with the download. It was corrupted and looked a mess.
