It certainly does have some red on it's belly, so you could be right. It's been a long time since I've seen a Redheaded Woodpecker live. They were everywhere in Michigan where I grew up, but I haven't been back there in many years.
That's one of the things that makes this such special shot to me,,,I have never really seen much but a mere glimpse of the birds belly through a pair of binoculars as they have their belly up against a tree. Seeing him close up, bent, totally exposed is very cool!
