A Horrifying video has emerged which appears to show a six-year-old girl being sold into marriage with a middle aged man in exchange for a goat and a few items of food.

The shocking act reportedly took place in a village in Afghanistan and the tiny child, dressed in long, flowing clothing, can be heard screaming and crying in the video.
The girl's father is accused of selling his daughter, named locally as Gharibgol, to Seyed Abdolkarim, the village's 55-year-old mullah - a respected Muslim who is learned in Islamic theology and sacred law - because he was struggling to make ends meet.
Witnesses reported hearing the father say that by selling the child he gained food for two months and had one less mouth to feed.
The heartless father sold the little girl for one goat, a bag of rice, tea, sugar and a few litres of cooking oil.
Under Afghan law, women must be 16 to marry while men have to be 18.
While it is not unusual for underage girls to get married, such a huge age gap is rare and Afghans have expressed shock on social media after watching the video.
The forced marriage took place in the village of Obeh, where the six-year-old lived with her family.
After the wedding the older man took his child bride to stay with distant relatives in the country's Ghor province.
Their host initially thought Gharibgol was Abdolkarim's daughter but when he realised the man was undressing the child at night he questioned his guest who reportedly replied: "No, she’s my wife, her father gave her to me."
The mullah's relative was so appalled he and a friend contacted the area's women's rights bureau, the police and local journalists.
Women from the father's village were also disgusted when they discovered what he had done and before police could arrest him they dragged him from his home and beat him in the street.
The child is now living with her mother in a safe house and Negineh Khalili, the head of the women’s rights bureau for Ghor province, is helping the child get a divorce as well as trying to ensure the father loses his parental rights.
The youngster and the mullah were only married religiously, not legally, which means a judge can't divorce them, it must be done by another imam and divorce is a taboo subject in Afghanistan.
According to local sources, the girl was examined at a hospital and doctors said no sexual intercourse had taken place between her and Abdolkarim.
The girl's father claimed he had made the mullah promise not to begin a sexual relationship with his daughter until she turned 18.

This is sad. The father is so poor that he sold his daughter for a goat and a bag of rice so that he could feed his other children. Underage marriage is illegal in Afghanistan and the father was arrested, after being attacked by villagers, so this is no more a negative reflection on Afghans as a people than it is a reflection on all Americans when we discover a pedophile in our midst. There was no sexual relationship with the child which reflects more restraint on the part of a pedophile than might be exhibited here (or elsewhere) under similar circumstances.

It seems that counter to the broad based attacks on Afghans and Muslims we see on this thread , there were people in the situation who knew it was wrong and reported it to the authorities.
