On a Day with Been Senseless Violence …

I am not religious … I do not identify myself to anyone as a Jew, nor as a Christian, nor, by anything (and ,only if pressed for such an identity) other than "a citizen of the planet".

On a day of senseless violence like today, when "reason" is elusive … I take myself to a place in nature and remind myself of the lines spoken by George Burns (playing the role of God) in the film, "Oh, God".…

"You can love each other, cherish and nurture each other or you can kill each other.

Incidentally, "kill" is the word. It's not "waste." If I had wanted "waste" I would have written "thou shalt not waste."

You're doing some very funny things with words. You're also turning the sky into mud. I look down, I can't believe the filth. Using the rivers for toilets, poisoning my fishes. You want a miracle? You make a fish from scratch. You can't. You think only God can make a tree? Try coming up with a mackerel. And when the last one's gone, that'll be that. Eighty-six on the fish, goodbye sky, so long world, over and out.

"Over and out" …

On a day of senseless violence like today, when "reason" is elusive … for me personally, Reason and Order are most readily, if not exclusively, available in Nature … Whoever or Whatever created it … organized religion notwithstanding … seems the only source of comfort and hope.

Although America is a Republic, I hope many Monarchs will find solace on your Milkweed.

Beautiful shot ... Might be a Tiger Swallowtail but nevertheless a great image!

Could be Mac. We had quite a few Monarchs this year, but also a lot of the Swallowtails.

The thing that we don't have this year is hummingbirds. Just a few now and than the last 5 years we had dozens around all summer.

It took me a bit to find it, I saw it and commend you for an excellent photo. Is that in YOUR garden?

lyric by Jacques Brel

If we only have love
Then tomorrow will dawn
And the days of our years
Will rise on that morn
If we only have love
To embrace without fears
We will kiss with our eyes
We will sleep without tears
If we only have love
With our arms open wide
Then the young and the old
Will stand at our side
If we only have love
Love that's falling like rain
Then the parched desert earth
Will grow green again
If we only have love
For the hymn that we shout
For the song that we sing
Then we'll have a way out
If we only have love
We can reach those in pain
We can heal all our wounds
We can use our own names
If we only have love
We can melt all the guns
And then give the new world
To our daughters and sons
If we only have love
Then Jerusalem stands
And then death has no shadow
There are no foreign lands
If we only have love
We will never bow down
We'll be tall as the pines
Neither heroes nor clowns
If we only have love
Then we'll only be men
And we'll drink from the Grail
To be born once again
Then with nothing at all
But the little we are
We'll have conquered all time
All space, the sun, and the stars.

Beautiful!!  Adding another to my growing list of favorites!  When you get that butterfly in flight image, Mac, may I call dibs on using it for my avatar?  You know I love the butterfly pictures!

AH,

The butterfly bush picture has not come through.

You saw my two attempts A-Mac?  Cool!

They were just some shots from my Flicker account taken years back.  Perhaps the images were too dense, guess I could try taking them down to jpgs or something and posting again.

Lets see if they'll post this time.

The Butterfly Bush - From the bedroom widow 04-06-2012

I count 7 Butterflies caught in this picture but there were dozens flitting around the bush.

Fun with zoom.

Not as pretty as Kavika's lavender, nor as stunning as any of yours or Buzz photo compositions but hey, they tickled my fancy at the time. ( smile )

AH, there is no photo, only a blank page with a tiny something up in the left hand corner.

Well, there you go.

Try and bring a little joy to the world and POOF, gone like a thief in the night.  Unmarked and Unloved. (ha, ha)

My virtual life imitating my real world one. (smile)

Last night I tried to past post two images, with descriptive script.

First try was to post the whole thing but post wouldn't take.

Next I tried posting only the script and when that worked I opened the edit and added one image.  That worked, so I used the same process for the second image.

Eureka!

Now my screen was showing both images and identifying script showing so I opened the edit one last time to add a summary sentence, updated and went on to other stuff.

What is the file format of the originals AH? JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PNG, etc?

Let's start there and see what we can do.

Well, sense copy and pasting the images didn't stick last night, lets try "embed local media" this time.

THAT'S IT!

Always go with "EMBED Local Media".

The original and the zooms are all outstanding … the butterflies are Tiger Swallowtails.

Thanks for an excellent contribution to the thread!
