Old-time Cat Postcards -- The family life of cats-- 1890s-1950s
A wonderful art company from Belgium printed these postcards from the 1890s-1950s. I suppose it is out of business, now, but I sure wish I had more of them! I think you'll like them, as they are really cute, detailed pictures of the moments in our lives that aren't always special, but memorable, anyway!
No date of printing, but the postmark is 1898:
Postmark 1916:
Postmark 1947:
Postmark from the 50's, can't read them!
Thanks for coming by!
It is most annoying when the postmark is smudged or gone! I love these, and thought that maybe they would bring a smile to your face, too!
Hereare the pic's I was looking for!! These are fantastic! I love the cats in their bathing suits. Thank you for sharing these treasures!!
You are very welcome! It's hard to be blue when you're looking at these cute pictures!
I had to find them, and scan them in again. Right now, I don't know where anything is. Funny how I've managed to tear up 2 houses, and am nowhere near the end... I am happy to send the scanned pictures to you!
What beautiful treasures! The colors are really vibrant, considering the age of these beauties...or did you color enhance them?
Actually, I did nothing to them... I guess lying in a dark drawer for all these years "preserved" them!
I love these-- they are fanciful, but interesting, too!
They are fabulous, love the dog-drawn carriage and driver amongst the kitties!
Me, too!
Of course all of us are "servants" to those regal creatures who were once considered Gods, and haven't forgotten it...
Is it likely that cats would voluntarily dive into water? Not in my experience living with a cat.
I think I actually have some of those dressed-cat cards around someplace. My grandmother and great-grandmother saved every postcard they collected or received and made huge albums out of them.
This website shows a couple of the same cards you have, Dowser, and discusses how to identify them by artist, clothing style and subject matter if the actual print or copyright has worn off.
What a wonderful thing to share, thank you. One was from 1916, do you know what printing method was used. That one is so detailed.

I love cats, I worked for one, as a personal servant, forover 15 years.
These are great pictures
