Spikegary's Father Passed Away

It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform the community that our friend, Gary, has lost his father after a very long fight with cancer. Gary adored his dad and was there with him when he passed. May he find peace in the memories of his dad.

Dear Friend Gary, my heartfelt sorrow at the loss of your beloved Father. The loss of a loved one is hard to take as it is, but, to lose them to such a vicious killer as cancer is even harder. My prayers are with you and your family.

While your beloved Father has now walked on to follow the next steps of his own eternal journey, his Spirit will always be with you.

The sweetest legacy we can leave behind is the smile that comes to the face of those we love when they remember us.

I pray God's peace to you Gary.  I hope there are many smiles in your future as you remember your dad.

I encourage you to make a list titled "The things my dad taught me".  I shared my list at my dad's funeral.

Peace to you my friend.

Gary, I'm sorry to hear about your father.  A loss so special, I may not have this right, but I remember reading something Enoch wrote on here some time ago.  Your father is never truly gone until the last person who knew him has left us as well.

It may not seem like it now, but what an incredible blessing for both of you that you were able to be together when he passed.

Peace to you and your family, Gary.

To Perrie and everyone,

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for your words, both here and privately.  It meant  a lot to me.  My family is very close, though we live in different areas of the country.  I was lucky enough to have Enoch's counsel before and after my dad's passing.  And I was lucky enough to have my dad and still have my mom throughout all these years.  I know not everyone receives that blessing.

Again, thank you, your words mean a lot to me.

Ausmith, I was asked to do the eulogy, and I based it on your thought of 'What my Dad Taught Me'.  I'm considering making it an article for Newstalkers.  Thank you for the thought.

Gary

'What my Dad Taught Me'.

You are welcome Gary.  I am glad it helped .

My father taught me to use dynamite and drive a tractor at age four.  The gasps in the audience were quite loud.

At four I carried the battery so it wouldn't accidentally contact the caps.  I stomped on the clutch of the Ford tractor when the men pulled a shock of wheat off of the old binder.

Hello, Spikegary --

I'm very new to NT (2 days) and came across this article on my home page. We don't know each other, but I wanted to express my sincere condolences. My parents passed away in 2014 and 2016. I found this poem helpful in learning how to cope with no longer having their physical presence in my life. I hope it will help you, too:

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

By   Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
