UPDATE: Apparently, Tom Petty has not yet left us. However, I am seeing reports that he has been taken off of life support.
FURTHER UPDATE: Tom Petty has passed away.

He suffered a massive heart attack, he is still alive in the hospital but is not expected to make a recovery...
Also the family and hospital has a no resuscitation order on him.
If it is his time then only the lord knows.

Sorry! I didn't know he was still alive. I had not seen anything to the contrary. Again, I apologize for posting this too soon. He's one of my favorite musicians.

Indeed! You know, I try to keep a "stiff upper lip" in moments like this for our stars are only "timeless" in our hearts. Their day to day lives are rigors of joy, pain, crowds, and solitude. So like us, they fall victim to the same fates as are common to mankind. Where ever you go, Mr. Petty, bring music and several songs please.

I just updated the post. It appears that he has not yet passed away, but I have seen reports that he has been taken off of life support so it seems it is only a matter of time.
I just saw the same thing. I didn't think he was that young.
BTW, I just want to make sure that you understand I wasn't accusing you of changing the headline.
I didn't think you accused me of anything. The headline didn't say that when I seeded the article. I kind of feel bad since this is my first seed on News Talkers and it's inaccurate.
Is there no possibility that taking a person off life support could mean that he was able to survive without it?
It's possible but the reason they took him off life support was because there was no brain activity and he had a "do not resuscitate" in place.
I don't know. There are reports that He's been declared brain dead but with this being so inaccurately reported, that could be wrong too. We'll have to wait for some official family statement. We can only hope for the best.
that's what I figured.
Hopefully he'll survive and get to see how people mourned for him. That would be a change. Most people never mention those people they admire and love until it is too late.
So...did Petty croak or didn't he??
