What if……… I keep asking myself the same question on almost a daily basis. Every time I ask myself the question, the answer that I get is the same……. Impeachment. Let’s play that same “ what if?” game.
What if there was credible evidence that Barack Obama had his campaign work with the Russian government to undermine the electoral process?
What if the President of the United States had fired the F.B.I. director, acting F.B.I. director, forced the resignation of the assistant F.B.I. director, threatened to fire the Special Counsel, and the Assistant Attorney General, as well as rail against his Attorney General for recusing himself from an investigation on Russia and the presidency?
What if Barack Obama had decided that white supremicists were basically good people and were no more to blame for Charlottesville? What if President Obama said that both sides were equally at fault?
What if Barack Obama demanded a wall across our southern border to be paid for by Mexico and then turned and demanded the money from the American taxpayer, holding the young people of DACA hostage to the ransom demand?
What if Barack Obama had 19 women come forth credibly accuse him of sexual misconduct?
What if it came out that Barack Obama had paid off a porn star $130,000 to quiet an alleged affair while his third and current wife was immediately post birth?
What if the inner circle of Barack Obama’s campaign were indicted or pled guilty to felony charges stemming from actions during the presidential campaign and turned state’s evidence against Obama?
What if Barack Obama called countries around the world “s….hole nations”?
What if Barack Obama had nominated more potential judges rated as unqualified that the cumulative number of unqualified nominees by the ten presidents that preceded him?
What if? What if? If it were Barack Obama, the House would have voted to impeach him within the first three months of his presidency. That vote would have been non-partisan and the Democratic leaders would have done what the Republican leaders did with President Nixon. They would have told him that the Articles of Impeachment that were voted on in the House, would lead to a guilty finding in the Senate and that the President’s only option would be resignation. The nation would recognize that we elected an unstable president, understand the mistake and move on.
But this is 2017, and what if doesn’t seem to capable of is recognizing that the face of this nation is looked upon by the world as a national catastrophe.. Donald Trump has done every one of the what if’s. He would never have survived a first year in more normal political times, but he has. The Republican party has lost any semblance of balance. They may have a political agenda that is important to them, but that agenda has become held hostage to the Trump show. The GOP may have an elephant as their mascot, but the real elephant in the room is the orange mammoth running roughshod over this nation and destroying this nation’s future.
