Hillary Clinton fires back at critics: No one told a man who lost an election to shut up

Source

Hillary Clinton is striking back at critics telling her to "shut up" following her 2016 loss, saying, "They never said that to any man who was not elected."

"I was really struck by how people said that to me - you know, mostly people in the press, for whatever reason - mostly, 'Go away, go away,'" Clinton said Thursday during an event at Rutgers University.

"And I had one of the young people who works for me go back and do a bit of research. They never said that to any man who was not elected. I was kind of struck by that," Clinton said. Clinton's remarks came in response to a question from Eagleton Institute of Politics' director Ruth Mandel about the former Democratic presidential nominee's reaction to those who say she should "get off the public stage and shut up."

"I'm really glad that, you know, Al Gore didn't stop talking about climate change," Clinton said to applause.

"And I'm really glad John Kerry went to the Senate and became an excellent secretary of State," the former first lady continued. "And I'm really glad John McCain kept speaking out and standing up and saying what he had to say. And for heavens sakes, Mitt Romney is running for the Senate," Clinton said.

The 70-year-old ex-secretary of State has taken heat in recent weeks, even among some Democrats, for comments she made about Americans who voted for President Trump in the 2016 race.

"I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward," Clinton said earlier this month during a conference in India. "And his whole campaign, 'Make America Great Again,' was looking backwards."

"I think it was a moment in time because what had been expected to happen in the election, which obviously did not," Clinton said Thursday . "And then a lot of angst and second guessing and finger pointing and everything that went on."

Most people, once they've lost the election have the good taste to shut up and go about their lives instead of continuing campaigning.....I guess she's planning on the Hillary 3.0 campaign for 2020.

I hope she keeps on making a fool of herself...just like Justice Stevens, she continues to be an ongoing gift to the Republicans as the midterms loom in just a few months.

What's nice about all of this is that it just helps her "elitism" shine through more clearly.   When she was actively campaigning it was largely kept under wraps except when she occasionally slipped up and made dumbass public statements like "the deplorables" and such.

Now she is not fettered by such things and her true colors shine through regularly.

She's such a nasty thing.   The Clintons really are nasty, elitist people.

Well, when the best our system can produce is Trump, Clinton and Sanders our system is broke dick busted.

Moderates like Kaisch or Webb can't get past the primaries and that is a problem we need to fix.

I have to agree with you that the system is broken.  For many election cycles many referred to the elections as a 'Beauty Contest'.  And it has continued to spin downward, with complicity, to ending up with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as the 2 people out of our, what, 319 Million citizens, that were our only possibly electable candidates?

You may and thank you, i agree 100%.    I always thought our "silence" was a little silly but tried to respect the request just the same.

I've said it before and i'll say it again.   I would have voted for Webb in a heartbeat had he been there in 2016.   Like others he got gamed by the system.   The two party system spawns and protects the fundamentalism coming from both sides and that needs to get fixed.   I believe most Americans are closer to the middle than the edges of politics today.

Happy Easter to you and yours Trout.   I'm headed out to watch the suck start for my Tigers this years.

The only ways to fix primaries are to remove them from the control of the parties and then make them open, similar to Missouri's system back in the 1990s; or, eliminate them completely and just have an open general election.  I don't know if it is still the case now, but when my maternal grandfather was alive (he died in 1999), he was able to go to the polling place and request a ballot for either party to vote on during the primaries.  Most primaries are run by the respective party and they determine who can be and how they get on the ballot, then determine what is needed to win their races.

Webb would have been the Democrats best choice as he is a Moderate based on what little I know about him and his positions and the fact he has very little scandal floating around him, unlike Hillary and Bernie.  However, I probably still would have voted for Trump as the Democratic Party really has stopped being of the people, by the people, and for the people and has become of the powerful, by the powerful, and for the powerful as shown by the actions of the Clintons, the Obamas, Pelosi, Reid, and Schumer.

I didn't know making America Great was a bad thing. I sure don't want to vote for someone that wants us to be like EVERY OTHER COUNTRY on the planet. That would be kinda hard to do in the first place anyway. Haven't met a COUNTRY that wasn't "Different" from another. close call

She wasn't my first choice, but the reality is that the image most conservatives have of her is comical in its false characterization of her. She's not the head of some murderous cabal, there was no nefarious wrongdoing with her private email server, there wasn't even any evidence it had been compromised in any way, multiple partisan Republican investigations into Benghazi concluded she couldn't have prevented it and was not responsible, she didn't have Seth Rich killed, she didn't run a child sex ring out of a pizza parlor, she wasn't the deciding factor in the Uranium One deal which didn't give Russia any uranium anyway, she's just an elderly grandmother with decades of being in the political spotlight and a few years experience as a Senator. I still would have preferred Bernie and I voted for him in the primary, but she was certainly a far better choice than the serially bankrupt, morally deficient, ignorant narcissistic circus clown elected by the minority of bitter bigots and angry out of work white nationalists. There is simply no way in hell a Hillary administration would have been in this much chaos and had as much turn over and created as much uncertainty as the current commander in-competent has.

Yes there was....she set it up intentionally to be able to control all of her emails....both personal and governmental. That way she could delete (or so she thought) any emails that might turn out to be detrimental to her. In that July press conference Comey pretty much convicted her of committing a crime, yet refused to recommend indictment because she supposedly did not have "intent"

elected by the minority of bitter bigots and angry out of work white nationalists

Another uninformed opinion that has no basis in fact. The truth is that 60,000,000 or so American citizens did not like nor in good conscious vote for her

For it to be a crime there had to be intent. She was careless in missing a handful of emails that shouldn't have gone through her private email server, the missing emails were found and reviewed by the FBI and they found no intent to obfuscate or obstruct anything and they didn't find any evidence her email server was compromised which can't be said of the actual official State Department email servers.

"Overlooked in the controversy over Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server , is the fact that suspected Russian hackers have bedeviled State Department's email system for much of the past year and continue to pose problems for technicians trying to eradicate the intrusion.

Federal law enforcement, intelligence and congressional officials briefed on the investigation say the hack of the State email system is the "worst ever" cyberattack intrusion against a federal agency. The attackers who breached State are also believed to be behind hacks on the White House's email system, and against several other federal agencies, the officials say."

No government e-mails are allowed to be funneled through a private server.  Ever.  Additionally, some of them were classified.  Regardles of intent, because of her actions, classified information was compromised.  For someone aspiring to the highest office in the land, she should have known that, but she claims she didn't.

Regardless of your opinion, there was no evidence any of the classified emails were compromised as verified by the FBI. You can whine and harp about some "deep State" conspiracy all you want, but our FBI found she had, at worst, been careless with her handling of a handful of classified emails.

"The disclosures came a day after n ews surfaced that Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and adviser, used a private email account to send or receive about 100 work-related emails during the administration’s first seven months. But Mr. Kushner was not alone. Stephen K. Bannon, the former chief White House strategist , and Reince Priebus, the former chief of staff , also occasionally used private email addresses. Other advisers, including Gary D. Cohn and Stephen Miller, sent or received at least a few emails on personal accounts, officials said."

The hypocrisy of conservative Republicans really knows no bounds.

I would say the ignorance of liberal progressives really knows no bounds if they think sending classified material on a private server is the same thing as sending non classified work material on a private email account is the same thing.

So, take your emotions out of the picture.  If her server was hacked, as everyone knows is true, all the e-mails stored on that server were also compromised.  Whether they had classified on them or not.  So, yes, she did in fact mishandle classified information by funneling it to her private server for whatever reason she did.  Intent means nothing when you are mishandling classified information.  We have people in prison for mishandling classified infromation today-there was a 'decision' reached to pretend it didn't matter because she didn't mean it.

As to deep state conspiracies?  That is your construct, I don't believe I've ever mentioned anything like that.  Ever.  Of course, I remember someone else pubicly complaining about the 'Vast Right Wing Conspiracy'........wanna guess who that was?

Any man who whined about defeat this long would be told shut up too. Hillary got beat by a black man who ran out of nowhere and passed her by. Then she had to rig the primary in order to beat an unknown socialist. And finally she lost to somebody she considers a complete buffoon who was also the most disliked person in polling history (with herself as a close second). If she had any common sense, she’d shut up on her own without being told to do it and without making her own stupidity a gender issue.
